I was inspired by MN to shave my fanjo and now I have some horrible looking rash/spotty things - help!

Well that's it really, have to say I rather like it 'clean shaven' and dh thinks it's christmas. I've noticed where the hair grows it's all spotty - ingrown hairs? how do I stop it becoming a problem? Doesn't look great either tbh.

I would recommend cream rather than shaving, some come with cream to help with the rash that might appear
Give it a few days, it will settle down hun. HTH

avenanap · 06/05/2008 21:07

Exfoliate to help them come through the skin without ingrowing, plenty of E45.

OUCH!

Indith · 06/05/2008 21:07

You need to keep the area seriously moisturised and gently exfoliated. I mean gently using a glove or bath flower or something not harsh granules! Least that is what I have gleaned from my sister!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/05/2008 21:12

Goodness - what boards have you been reading to be "inspired" to do that?

scanner · 06/05/2008 21:15

Exfoliating sounds harsh, so yes, will go gently. Have been slapping moisturiser on. Luckily it's not on the 'undercarriage' just the front bumper and not too painful.

I'll try cream next time I think.

shaving can cause folliculitis which is inflamation of the hair follicle, can be sore and itchy! I tried cream and it really burned the leg/groin skin, not too bad around fanjo or over pubic area in general but groin edges ...hoo hellish..soothed with sudocreme! I really need to get waxed...Im such a wuss though! (everyone I know who gets it done says its not.)

PSCMUM · 06/05/2008 21:20

last time i got waxed, went through all the pain, and i still got the red spots. not pretty. serves me right for not going to my usual tried and trusted place.
what a palaver though.
i just wish it was the sexy thing to have it all growing down to my knees. so much easier.

LynetteScavo · 06/05/2008 21:22

I'm wondering just how many people have been inspired to do the same by MN. I'm certainly neater than I used to be!

lisad123, I really cant' tell if I've misread your post or not. Come mixed with cream????

EggyChick · 06/05/2008 21:25

come mixed with cream!

morningpaper · 06/05/2008 21:27

I use an electric shaver and exfoliate (yes GENTLY not with a pumice stone or anything) and moisturise

Twiglett · 06/05/2008 21:27

I'm sorry but a bunch of hobbits in your computer convinced you to shave your fanjo .. and now you're surprised it's uncomfortable growing back

rofl at you

I shall now inspire you to send all your money to Twiglett, 22 Marmite Road, Stickville

MinkyBorage · 06/05/2008 21:31

here it stings like buggery on any broken skin, but works a treat!

sarahsixtoes · 06/05/2008 21:33

nothing there Minky?!

suedonim · 06/05/2008 21:36

I find a small amount of hydrocortisone cream works wonders for calming post-bikini line skin. Just a couple of days should do the job.

Doodle2U · 06/05/2008 21:37

this works

think I might nominate Lisas post for quote of the week

hifi · 06/05/2008 21:52

take a paracetamol and a glass of wine then half an hour later GET IT WAXED.

scanner · 06/05/2008 21:53

lol. I've ordered some already from Amazon, as much as I was tempted by the offer of the same product 'used' I felt it was a little inappropriate. .

Oh and Twiglett, you are silly - I've been wanted to do it for ages, reading Musnet inspired me to give it a go.

Twiglett · 06/05/2008 22:22

have you been wanting to send all your money to me for ages?

Stripteasle · 06/05/2008 22:24

HI- I find gentle exfoliation of the area helps with the red sore bumps- I get them from shaving and sometimes with waxing. Exfoliate every day- gently, obviously...

scanner · 06/05/2008 22:24

Yes and dh is keen on that idea too, where shall I send it?

OP posts:
Stripteasle · 06/05/2008 22:25

Sorry, I see morningpaper already suggested it

mustrunmore · 06/05/2008 22:25

Ok, this thread wins the prize for making me snigger tonight

Personally, its always waxing. No better option.
