For over week I am spending most days in my bed. I go out only if nessecary. I want to do many things but I lack the motivation like in one part of me I know I want and should get up from the bed and do stuff but the other part of me keep me in bed. I don't know what going on. Do I have health problems or is my laziness hit the highest level possible ? I don't want mention this before cause I am new there on this forum. My house needs good cleaning it was taking me 3 days to wash up the dirty dishes I clean bit by bits when I find enough motivation to get up from bed . The cold weather not help either. I don't know what going on with me. Does everyone had same problem? Thanx for any advice

Give yourself a break OP, you've had surgery. It takes a while to recover from them both mentally and physically.
You are allowed a week in bed, we are only human.

gamerchick · 06/12/2024 19:29

Is your kid being looked after?

If you are not still suffering from the after effects of your surgery, why are you signed off work until January? Who decided that?

Gonk123 · 06/12/2024 20:17

What surgery did you have?

My doctor

OK, but that doesn’t explain why you were signed off for a long period even after you had recovered from the surgery?

Perhaps being out of your usual routine while not feeling ill/in pain has led to you sinking into a lack of motivation and low mood?

RubyRedBow · 06/12/2024 20:39

It shouldn’t take you that long to do simple tasks. You may feel better out of bed and having an hours blitz around.

That not me decide about it but my doctor. I was feel ok for while after the surgery the feeling not motivation with some psyhical symptoms come not long ago(tiredness, getting bruises) I need first go doctor to check up what can it be. If is depression then sure the faster back to work can help but if is health issue going back work earlier won't help. I need to do doctor check up first

Have they checked your thyroid? Blood levels, covered the basics? If you are getting bruises this is not just a case of depression…you need your gp to run some tests x

They should also test your ferritin (iron stores). Make sure you get the result yourself as the NHS has a very low minimum, around 14, whereas it often needs to be at least 50 to be sure of avoiding fatigue.
