They usually give you a nasal spray to shrink it.

southeastastra · 26/04/2008 21:25

i've got that it's not doing anything

OP posts:
moondog · 26/04/2008 21:26

If I did, I would not breathe a word of it to ANYONE.
Not even my imaginary friends.

southeastastra · 26/04/2008 21:43

moondog · 26/04/2008 21:45

I will keep it bumped so THAT EVERYONE KNOWS YOU HAVE A NOSE POLYP and from now on, everytime you post, they will see your name and thing 'Ah,the woman with the nose polyp'
(As they did for UCM and her whiffy fanjo.)

PestoMonster · 26/04/2008 21:46

The thing is with polyps is that they come and go. When I was referred to ENT consultant by GP, the consultant swore that it had shrunk back when I saw him (was a while between seeing GP and seeing him) and refused to do anything other than the nasal spray (when required).

PestoMonster · 26/04/2008 21:48

To add, my Dad also gets them and he goes privately and his surgeon removes them in a very eye-watering procedure (as my Dad is awake and not anaesthatised).

moondog · 26/04/2008 21:48

OMFG
Does he see them? What do they look like? how big are they?

PestoMonster · 26/04/2008 21:50

I don't know, I've never asked.

moondog · 26/04/2008 21:51

YES! I have polyps in both nostrils. Not huge, but defo there and am constantly stuffy. Will prolly need to have them removed as I've used nasonex for yonks and have been on steroid tablets for a lung condition since feb, and they are still blardy there.

Surgery is the last resort and they just basically snip it off I think. Otherwise nose sprays and steroids are meant to get rid of it. >waiting

shrooms · 27/04/2008 00:47

They generally grow there because of nasal or sinus swelling over time due to gravity pulling down on the inflamed bit. Urgh. And are usually the result of allergies.

Tinker · 27/04/2008 00:51

I just had to look, I'm afraid

shrooms · 27/04/2008 00:56
