For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

But on your thread there were people who have had the operation and none of that happened, my mum was fine after hers, really fine, none of that at all. If you look at the possible side effects of practically anything, there are horrible lists of things that could happen, any drug, any procedure - but it's all very rare isn't it. No one can promise it won't happen, but it sounds unlikely. I'm so sad they posted, you really didn't need that.

zippitippitoes · 27/04/2008 12:26

that is the enormous downside of the internet

there is a lot of stuff which is just not in perspective

people who have poor ouitcomes are invariably more vocal than those with successful ones who just move forward

FrannyandZooey · 27/04/2008 12:27

am nervy
dp isn't back and I'm going to be late for this party if we don't go soon

just had ENORMOUS kick in my ribs
I went "OOOH"

FrannyandZooey · 27/04/2008 12:28

yes I am sure unnecessary hysterectomy is a bad thing
I mean they used to whip it all out under any pretext didn't they
but fgs that woman had not considered your position at all, she was just spieling out propaganda
I am glad you are going back to see the doctor, you can get it all clear in your mind

ah dp cometh

zippitippitoes · 27/04/2008 12:30

well yes having a hysterectomy because it is absolutely the best intervention possible is different from having one because you have heavy oeriods

MrsCarrot · 27/04/2008 12:35

I know, but it's true they haven't told me about any side effects at all. Expat said have they talked about your pelvic floor and stuff but no-one has. Maybe they will at the pre-assessment on Wednesay.

At first I thought, wankers, and I need this op so that stuff is irrelevant, but it played on my mind and actually, it makes sense that these problems would occur in many cases. You can't remove a whole organ so integral to the functioning of female and not expect any problems Lots of people say they feel better after but I imagine those are people who had problems with pain or bleeding etc. I feel fine now. Will I after? Will I lose my waist, my sex life, a pain-free life and so on and so on. Part of me feels there is nothing wrong and that any bad area was removed and that the op is a just in case it comes back sort of thing. The just in case has such large consequences that I don't feel I have a choice so I am in a scary situation.

Sorry, didn't mean to blurb all that, the HERS confirmed niggling doubts I had that the docs weren't mentioning everything. They are militant, but I think in America lots of people have them when they don't need them.

MrsCarrot · 27/04/2008 12:39

Good god listen to me. I don't want to have cancer that can't be screened by smears, that is why I am having it. If I get side effects then that is better than leaving my children motherless and I will have to deal with them. and I may not get them.

Is your mum really fine, Boco? I don't know anyone who has had one to ask about those things and I didn't want to ask the one or two people on the thread the personal details.

Boco · 27/04/2008 13:04

Would you like to talk to my mum?
She really was fine, and is fine. She's very friendly and I'm sure she'd chat with you about it.

Have to go to the shop now. Email me if you'd like - I could bring her to Norwich and we could go for a drink or she could call you.

Thanks Avi it was a militant anti-hysterectomy site called HERS spamming the internet for people like me to 'inform' us of the side effects before surgery. It wasn't very nice. I am pleased to hear your sister was fine. Did she report any problems?

TooTicky · 27/04/2008 14:18

I like the idea of MrsC talking to Boco's mum. Seems a very good idea.

We're off out to discover a new park.
Eye issue unresolved.

zippitippitoes · 27/04/2008 14:32

i know someone the same age as me who hAD ONE ABOUT 15 years ago

she is fine

she is still slim

skis

runs a chaion of hairdressers

does the hairdressing

etc

MrsCarrot · 27/04/2008 14:37

but are these people that are fine compromised in that area iyswim, is it something that people would talk about other than to their closet friends, or indeed internet sites?

MrsCarrot · 27/04/2008 14:38

closest, not closet

Sorry - I am being needy. I will go and um, dust the ornaments or something.

zippitippitoes · 27/04/2008 14:44

well i havent actually discussed sex with her

but i remember she recovered quite quiuckly and she was quite happy to not have periods and stuff

BBBee · 27/04/2008 14:47

not read thread - just got gist.

MrsC - I have a lovely RL friend who had a similiar operation to yours about three weeks ago. I know you keep getting offered these people but she is very 10/10 IYSWIM.

But will leave it hanging as I know now may not be the time.

will read and be more on the money later.

BBBee · 27/04/2008 14:47

(is 'on the money' something they say when making porn films?)

BBBee · 27/04/2008 14:48

(oh no sorry dp has just told me I am thinking of a 'money shot' at some but still inadequate knowledge of pornongraphic films.)

zippitippitoes · 27/04/2008 14:48

bbee did you see i wil go to9 the tate modern when you finish

zippitippitoes · 27/04/2008 14:49

lol at money shot how inappropriate can you get rofl

FrannyandZooey · 27/04/2008 15:01

party done
tick

last one I have booked

not sure whether to be sad or relieved
both I expect

Boco · 27/04/2008 15:20

It's a relief to know that Bee is going to keep the money shot for later. We don't want too much too soon.

MrsC, I can imagine that asking a stranger intimate questions would be a bit odd and you might not want to. If you want to email the questions to me I could ask her for you and email them back. I am only offering to ask my mother sex and fanjo related questions because I like you so much, I wouldn't do it for anyone else.

MrsCarrot · 27/04/2008 15:22

Be relieved, Franny, it is not over for good, just for now so you can have a good rest and create life.

Sorry, Zippi, that sounded ungrateful.

Bbbee - I forgot about your friend. How is she doing?

FrannyandZooey · 27/04/2008 15:23

Boco I can understand you only asking your mother about her fanjo for MrsC
so would you ask her about her bowel movements for me for instance?
I am just trying to work out where I am on the scale of being liked

Boco · 27/04/2008 15:38

I would Franny, but it would have to be on a different day.
