Verruca diaries - the banana skin method

Chanel05 · 29/05/2024 19:38

Two verrucas on one foot.

One has been there for nearly four years and the other has been there for about 17 years. The long standing one has had everything thrown at it over the years. Bazuka of course (numerous times!), filing, tape over the top, leaving it, at least six treatments of cryotherapy and the thing still has never budged. Trying the banana skin method this time in the hope that I can have a lovely pedicure and foot massage before I go on holiday this summer! Tonight will be night four of banana skin and I think they feel a tad softer but it's hard to tell!

Please regale me with your banana skin verruca success stories! I need the motivation. How long did it take for yours to go?

@NicoleSkidman I'll give it a little file today then.
I've just done night seven and they seem to be getting softer round the edges. The 16 year one seems to look more crater like but definitely still there. The newer one is proving to be more hardy.

Can I ask did this work please? I have a giant verruca that seems to be getting bigger with pregnancy, and I can't take over the counter treatments at the moment so will take any hope the natural methods work!

It completely works. Do it every night for a 2-4 weeks and it will be gone.

Chanel05 · 22/07/2024 08:49

@kc92 I did it religiously for over three weeks and it didn't make a difference!

Thanks for reporting back OP.
What's your next move?
If the GP freezing them didn't work should they refer you on?

CrunchySnow · 25/07/2024 02:31

I had one for years and had different podiatrists try multiple different things. Drove me nuts. Then I broke my toe and took my toe nail off at the same time. It was wrapped in Fixumol to protect the nail bed for a couple of months and the verucca disappeared! I think this probably works the same as the duct tape method.

Chanel05 · 25/07/2024 06:42

@seedsandseeds I had them frozen about 8/9 years ago now so I don't think they'll be referring me 😂. I think I'll pay privately for the laser therapy treatment at some point but I'm breastfeeding and it's not recommended whilst nursing.

sighsloudly · 25/07/2024 07:32

Have you tried putting breast milk on the verrucas. That worked for me. I would file them daily and then put breast milk on.

robotsquirrel65 · 25/07/2024 07:35

Do they not offer to cut it out? I've seen so many (satisfying) videos where they cut the root out.

I'm so sorry OP sounds so frustrating!

JustKeepSwimmingJust · 25/07/2024 07:40

Barefoot walking on beaches is the only thing that’s worked for me

Suddenly painful then dropped off about a week later.

That's rubbish! Sorry OP. Got my 10 yearer frozen off just before pregnancy.
I'd try to see if the GP would refer you for anything just on the off chance. Mine was a decade long one but the pain became unbearable after I begun slicing it off. 😬

Interesting!
I wonder if those little crustaceans might want a nibble on it

Really interesting as my DS had one for 3 months then spent the day at the beach - in and out of the sea and it fell off!

Verrucahelp · 27/07/2024 19:18

Out of interest, do people walk around the house barefoot with them? And in bed, etc?! I feel like if I do that and ever manage to get rid of mine, I will just catch it again!

I've ordered some Salactol OP, that worked for me last time. Not sure if you can use when breastfeeding though.

I couldn't really stop my DC from walking around the house barefoot and he didn't get another one and neither have the rest of us.

I had one for around ten years. It was so big it almost had its own gravitational field. Various remedies were tried but the banana skin method got it in the end. It took about three weeks but the verruca turned black, shrank and then disappeared completely.

Buffypaws · 28/07/2024 06:49

I just had Swift. It really hurt.

I don’t think that anything I did whilst pregnant or breastfeeding or for a while after made any difference at all to mine enormous verrucca and I’ve always assumed due to immune suppression during pregnancy.
I nagged and nagged at mine with this and that, footner, I tried those medicated corn plasters (hole in foot, verrucca remained, ) at home freezing, hard cutting back, beach, ignoring, mind exercises, bazzooka, apple cider vinegar, anything else. Then eventually I stuck duct tape on for a couple of weeks & that seemed to get through & it went. 🤷‍♀️

some people say if you eat a bit of the Erica your body will get wakened to it…
or if you’re in Ireland I believe there are people who will buy it from you/charm it (I forget the proper name) I did actually consider a trip at one point.

Telemichus · 28/07/2024 07:06

The verrucca not the Erica ffs.

Verrucahelp · 28/07/2024 11:14

@Telemichus I cannot think of anything worse than eating a bit of it 🤢

Verrucahelp · 29/07/2024 16:33

Soubriquet · 29/05/2024 19:48

I used the duct tape method. Worked perfectly!

What did you do?

I had an Irish friend who did that.

Did it work?
I forgot, I also tried is it Thuja? Pills. Homeopathy. I don’t believe in it, but that’s how desperate I was.
I think I spent a bit on some good supplements as well in the hopes of maximising…..things… I don’t know, seemed like a good idea, I was pretty run down after 2 babies.

It did, if I remember rightly, but she didn't do it for me. This was decades ago. The only other thing I remember was she had to offer - you couldn't ask. She was not a flake or at all woo. She's quite a high flier these days. Don't know if she still does it.

Lolatusernamesuggestions · 29/07/2024 20:58

I applied tea tree oil, used banana skin and also duct tape. All three. I was that desperate. Every day, complete pain in the arse but it eventually worked. Duct tape applied like a cross nothing religious over the small bit of banana skin.
