For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

yes attachemnt as in baby - carer relationship. Looking at impact of maternal depression and subsequent educational issues for children of depressed parents.

It is very interesting and remarkably positive.

BBBee · 02/04/2008 01:32

UR I am so glad you parents celebrated you. I don;t appreciate your in laws.

UnderRated · 02/04/2008 01:43

Yes, I didn'y appreciate my in-laws much either. I suppose the good part of divorce, if there is one, is that they will be ex-inlaws.

Your work sounds fascinating. Both from a personal and professional perspective. I often wonder how depression has/ will effect DS. I used to work with children who had various psychological/ psychiatric problems and I often wondered about their parents. Many were adopted, usually at a very young age, and it always made me wonder if that played a part in their difficulties. Others had traumatic early childhoods and some came from what you would think were 'perfect' families.

BBBee · 02/04/2008 01:46

oh UR there is some very interesting things on adoption and looking at Romainian orphans and how they are often misdiagnosed with autism when it is actually an extreme form of attachemnt disorder.

The resilience of children of depressed parents is quite remarkable and heartening. I am enjoying this assignment very much.

Anyone fancy sending Mrs C something? Have I missed an email?

UnderRated · 02/04/2008 01:47

I'm not really sure what I was wittering about there.

BBBee · 02/04/2008 02:04

made sense to me - okay - I am to bed.

FrannyandZooey · 02/04/2008 08:21

MrsC says please don't send things atm as it will make her feel overwhelmed and she wants to take it bit by bit
well I think that was the gist
we shall have to kep asking her in case she has changed her mind

Bee thank you those were all very nice things to say. She is pleased, but she is just much more interested in ds than me, and she is always obsessed about weight / size.

hello

I don't want a rushy worky day but I might not have aa choice.

It is dp bday today so we are going out for a meal which will be nice. I gave him the dvd and he did a face because essentially it appears to be about a couple splitting up and how awful marriage is so what a great present that turned out to be!

Just checking in

I am sorry I haven't been around much; I have had a headache that just won't go away and staring at the screen doesn't help. I expect it will go after ds's birthday...

I think of you all when I am not here though

FMF shall we try to meet up soon?

BBBee · 02/04/2008 10:10

poor tatties - hope you feel better soon.

TigerFeet · 02/04/2008 10:12

Hi Tatties, hope the headache disappears soon.

I am not joining the army of veg growers sadly - the best we usually do is a couple of tomato plants in pots on the patio, and even those have been cunting disappointing for the past couple of years. I keep trying though. Can't keep a good vegger down and all that.

eternalstudent · 02/04/2008 10:38

Morning!

It's boring job day today but at least the boring job is nearer to town than the ever so slightly less boring job which means I get fabuloso olive shed lunch and a meander round the Farmers market. Fun times.

DD had a bit of a rough night last night. She is coldy / feverish / teething and covered in excema. Last night she figured out how how to scratch. Such a pitiful sight, poor little thing writhing around in her cot doing her sleep whinge.

lullabyloo · 02/04/2008 11:33

oh poor dd ES

I am wondering if ds's eternal cold/cough is due to mouse allergy

I t was making awful noises in the boiler cupboard in ds's room last night. The pest man didn't even check in there.
There are quite large holes around the pipes.
Ds wasn't worried,he said the mouse was singing to him

eternalstudent · 02/04/2008 11:40

She's fine today, little monkey!

At least kids think mice are 'cute' rather then grubby and thus not things to fear.

We had a rat in a house I lived in once, it used to run around the skirting boards in my bedroom which was particularly horrific given that at the time I only had a mattress on the floor!! Makes me shiver thinking about it now. We had a dog in the house too but that didn't put it off!

lullabyloo · 02/04/2008 11:42

I dont mind the poor mice....I do mind the urine & droppings everywhere.
I want to rip up all the carpets & burn them but we are not allowed hard flooring here.

Googling allergies to mice is quite disturbing

lullabyloo · 02/04/2008 11:43

I feel like hiring a team of cleaners & getting them to totally gut the place

ugggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

lullabyloo · 02/04/2008 11:44

oh...& I have heard nothing about ds's schooling

everybody has had their letters/appeal forms etc
it seems we are being ignored
I guess I'll have to ring up & grumble again

eternalstudent · 02/04/2008 11:46

Mouse nappies?

Why no hard flooring?
