All the ones I can see look within normal ranges- is there anything you were particularly worried about?

DarkDarkTimeOfLife · 22/03/2024 16:48

Where does it say abnormal? I’m struggling to see ones outside the normal reference range.

GameChangingNameChange · 22/03/2024 16:49

They all look normal to me.

madamy · 22/03/2024 16:50

It's says abnormal even if just 1 test is slightly out of range.

All I can see is that your cholesterol is a bit high, all the other tests ate within the normal ranges.

CormorantStrikesBack · 22/03/2024 16:52

I think your cholesterol is a bit high but I’m a midwife not a nurse/dr so out of my area….other stuff looks ok.

Jayd291 · 22/03/2024 16:52

Yeah I’ve had a text message saying my colestrol is high, I’m only 32 is that not too soon to be getting that? On each blood test it had abnormal so was just panicking a bit.

Exactly this. All normal except cholesterol slightly out. Doctor will just want a word about that.

BrutusMcDogface · 22/03/2024 16:55

BrutusMcDogface · 22/03/2024 16:56

I’m no medic but the numbers in brackets are the normal ranges.

BabyEmber · 22/03/2024 17:02

All the results are normal, cholesterol is a bit high so that probably what the 'abnormal' refers to.

Everything else is spot on.

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 22/03/2024 17:06

What they said. It says abnormal at the top of the report. It must just say this if one result is out of normal range.

123anotherday · 22/03/2024 18:42

your ferritin is on the low side which is common in menstruating women, I see you had the bloods done because of tiredness?

Yeah I did, been to the docs my colestrol is a tad high but said everything else was normal, what is the ferritin? Thanks everyone!

123anotherday · 22/03/2024 19:31

@Jayd291 ferritin is a blood protein that stores iron ...if you have heavy or long periods its often really common to be low, I've been low on and off most of my adult life ,try and increase iron rich foods in your diet and speak to your GP when you next see them ( I've also been prescribed iron tablets on and off).

Jayd291 · 22/03/2024 19:37

Yeh I do have heavy periods, I’m waiting for an ultrasound on my ovaries ect just to check everything is ok!

It doesn’t say abnormal on any of them. Where did you get the idea that it says abnormal for all of them? Your results are within the normal range for everything except the non hdl chlolesterol and that doesn’t even say abnormal.

If you look at the first one for example, calcium, your result is 2.5 and then it gives the normal range, which is 2.2 to 2.6.

Caswallonthefox · 22/03/2024 19:46

I had a blood test recently which said my cholesterol was a bit high and my ferritin was low. I now take folic acid and atorvastatin every day. I've also had to change my diet a little. I'm in my 50's.

123anotherday · 22/03/2024 19:47

@Jayd291 good luck with that, to be fair the GP may well not be worried about your ferritin at all, its not that low, i just sympathise as i dont feel great if my ferritin goes below a certain level & i have tiredness issues too.

LawrieForShepherdsBoy · 23/03/2024 18:50

It’s just the cholesterol. I don’t know anyone who would consider your ferritin to be low. 98 is a great number for ferritin level.

evangelinename · 23/03/2024 18:58

This is really an odd co-incidence.

Yesterday I received a text from GP saying call for blood tests within 3 days then another saying call today. I have these tests every couple of months and they are always fine.

I couldnt get through and so logged onto my online GP account and there were 4 abnormal flags including acute kidney failure- I didnt look at the figures but called them back straight away and after an hour got through. The receptionist said my cholesterol was just slightly high- I asked why all 4 said abnormal and she said it was a new way the tests were showing- If any aspect is abnormal it flags them all as abnormal .

I have a kidney tumour (hence the tests) and so was in major panic when I saw the abnormal flag but looking the tests under that flag are all fine.

Thanks for all your reply’s, I had the bloods done for severe fatigue all the time, now all that’s come back clear what do I do now?

LawrieForShepherdsBoy · 23/03/2024 20:04

It’s probably harder when blood tests come back all clear as the uncertainty makes it all feel worse. At least if you had a defined problem, then you could get to work fixing it.

GPs don’t routinely test vitamin D, but you could do a private test by post via eg with Medichecks or Monitor my Health.

I would also consider going back to the doctors. Can you keep a very brief diary of symptoms and how it’s affecting your day to day life? There’s lots of people in your position, and it’s just awful.

I’ve been anaemic for a couple of years, but even when I’m ok, my fatigue has just brought my life to a bit of a standstill. I’m following some of the strategies for cfs by You Tuber called Raelan something. I don’t have any urge to purse a CFS or Long Covid diagnosis, but there’s a lot of stuff she talks about that really resonated with me and some really helpful techniques to manage day to day.

Thank you so much for that, I wish something had came back so I know what it was but I’m no further forward really , hopefully these iron supplements that I have bought will start to work, I am that sleep deprived I feel I’ll!

Your ferritin is well within range .. yours is 98 mine currently stands at 4 !

cholesterol is a bit high but that can be reversed with lifestyle changes
everything else is well within range , your tag is excellent so not under active thyroid either
