Hand hold while I wait for ambulance for daughter

Currently waiting for an ambulance for my daughter. Been sent as category 3. She's not been right for a few days now, not eating, not drinking, just laying slumped on her bed. This morning she collapsed in the bathroom and went really pale.

She has a learning disability and complex mental health problems so she can't tell me what is wrong as she doesn't verbally communicate when she feels unwell.

She was in hospital a couple of weeks back due to an infection (see previous threads) so I hope it's nothing to do with that.

I'm so worried, I feel sick.

Do you mean it wasn’t needed? I’m confused @StopTheQtipWhenTheresResistance. surely they don’t train for years to help someone into the vehicle who doesn’t need it? This job should be carried out by untrained professionals no?

With all due respect, I'm not going to respond to people from now on who think I shouldn't have brought my daughter into hospital.

Newstarto · 27/01/2024 23:42

I have not in any way suggested she’s a time waster. I have said that as our ambulance system is in meltdown, a different solution - with less trained medical staff - to transport non emergency people to hospital might work better.

I don’t really understand what is wrong with that?

simonell · 27/01/2024 23:42

@Newstarto didn't you leave ?

@EliflurtleAndTheInfiniteMadness I did indeed say a different way of getting help for those that need it without employing medically trained people would be preferable no? so I don’t understand your point

Yes that's loud and clear and not the only thing you dont understand. How about you check your privilege or leave. OP doesn't deserve endless posts about the necessity or not of an ambulance. Anyway you can have another pop at me if you like. I'm out because you're never going to get it and replying to you is pointless.

Newstarto · 27/01/2024 23:45

@simonell no. I said k wasn’t responding to you as you were unintelligible. I know I have broken that to clarify. God speed

vacay · 27/01/2024 23:45

Oh op ignore the arseholes on here, Mumsnet is full of vile people lately!!
I remember your last thread and hope your daughter is doing okay, nice she is smiling at you again

Newstarto · 27/01/2024 23:48

@Whatdoy oh come on. Talk to me if you wish to engage but don’t resort to picking holes in my grammar on an internet forum! Discuss what’s important to you, don’t get caught up in aggression

Bless you. Was it the thread when she had the infection? She recovered from that and started eating and drinking fine again until Thursday roundabout.

How is your DD going @StopTheQtipWhenTheresResistance ? How are you doing? My kids have SEN and complex needs, but nowhere near this level. One of mu friends has a non verbal child and I know she worries at times like when he's sick and she can see that but he can't tell her what's hurting or how bad he feels. I imagine it's overwhelming and exhausting and just plain scary at times when something is wrong like this.

Patient transport ambulances exist, and are very well utilised. The OP's situation (patient with complex need and disability) was such that an ambulance was required.
I hope you will do the decent thing now, and bugger off.

StopTheQtipWhenTheresResistance · 27/01/2024 23:52

In response to the issue about an ambulance, I had 1 senior nurse decide to send one out, another LD nurse tell me to call one, and a member of staff from the ambulance service telling me she needed one. So were they all wrong? 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
vacay · 27/01/2024 23:52

@StopTheQtipWhenTheresResistance yes it was, I have name changed since but I suggested she had vaginal swabs if she could tolerate it due to discharge you mentioned. If you remember.

I'm sorry she has gone downhill again but she is now in the right place, and hopefully the antibiotics will kick in by tomorrow and she'll keep improving

Newstarto · 27/01/2024 23:53

Well @SloaneStreetVandal she was told the wait was 10 hours so surely patient-transport ambulance would have made more sense.

this is not directed at the op who is doing what she needs to do, but at our shit health systems.

not at all if that was only solution. But why is this the only solution? I hope your daughter continues to recover

simonell · 27/01/2024 23:55

@StopTheQtipWhenTheresResistance No they were right and so were you. Try to get some rest if you can I know it will be incredibly difficult. I always thought it was just AIBU that was horrible. So shocked at some of the responses on here.

It isn’t a grammatical error, it’s a calculated attempt to appear superior- designed to imply that what you have said is so blinding in its obvious correctness that no one could possibly disagree.

Except it doesn’t work when you don’t have at least an arguable position to back it up.

The op needed support and kind words, not language games and moral judgements.

We are still in A&E as no beds available yet on the ward. My daughter is getting comfy and dropping off to sleep. I'm on a hard plastic chair though so no chance 😂

Hope your daughter is ok OP, it sounds really stressful for you 💐

simonell · 27/01/2024 23:59

@StopTheQtipWhenTheresResistance Oh no ! Hopefully won't be too long you must be exhausted. Wishing her a speedy recovery and back home soon 🥰

StopTheQtipWhenTheresResistance · 27/01/2024 23:59

Does anyone know if there is any chance of her being moved onto the ward at this time or is it too late? I don't know if there are policies on times to move people.

um okay, thought I was just posting on a chat forum about the shit-ness of our health service ….

simonell · 28/01/2024 00:01

@StopTheQtipWhenTheresResistance They move people all the time so there is always a chance I have been moved in the early hours before so fingers crossed 🤞🏼

MissHoollie · 28/01/2024 00:02

Yes you can be moved anytime
