No but plenty of professional experience with it.

A ketogenic diet is exceptionally effective for reversing this.

CleoKitten · 10/12/2023 13:19

Can I ask how youve been diagnosed? Someone on another thread just said I should push to be tested for this despite my doctor's not mentioning anything. Now I'm worrying I have it.

CleoKitten · 10/12/2023 13:20

Just realized your the same person lol

lovemenomore · 10/12/2023 13:20

Me!

Had it did about 8 years - well that's when I was diagnosed. I also have Cirrhosis which is from a combination of the NAFLD & medication I've taken for years for arthritis.

Fun!

Im pretty scared.
I was advised to rest in summer - got a CFS diagnosis from rheumatologist consultant.
Nov 2023 was nafld diagnosis from private liver mri
After a ct abdomen scan in oct

Im worried as my liver protein number got worse even between nov 20th and 4 days ago ( 2 sets of blood tests )

Ive reduced crisps etc
Had low fat soup

No more beef

I cut ham and bacon etc 6 months ago due to bowel polyps :(

Someone told me meditation diet

I had cod with no batter / no bread crumbs

Ive had b12 issues too - & now someone tdld me to minimize potatoes / scratchy carbs due to Nafld - guna make my b12 issue worse though :(

Awaiting NHS liver mri urgent results
The hot dog person / radiologist ?requested more lower andomen stuff/ images so we did that

I don't eat cake or biscuits
Not diabetic
Chlorestrol fine

Unfortunately a bit over weight.
Bmi 30.5 ish
Been through a lot the past 2 years - including recent early miscarriage & a relatives death

Me! I got diagnosed with a fatty liver alongside gallstones in gallbladder. Scan to check for gallstones showed the liver being fatty. I have so far reduced my diet loads and cut out cheese, crisps, chocolate, dairy, cake, excess sugar, etc etc. It's a pain but I'm at least losing some weight which should maybe help. I don't know.
I have around 4 stone to lose and I'm 1 shine down at the moment so hoping the rest comes off ok. Sorry no useful suggestions at all from me as still new to it all but you're not alone. Thank you for posting this as makes me feel less alone too. And sorry to hear about your year that you've had.

Amongst all that - - they still dunno why i have abnornal ca125

Apparently nafld shouldnt effect that ...

I have some private non invasive / non radiation breast and arm pit imagery mid Jan - - as im worried re ca125

Drs said they could put me in 4 chest scan
But didnt wana yet as a lot going on
And he wants liver MRI NHS results first etc

OP posts:

@worldwidetravel2017 no I haven't heard of them, thank you I will look into it!
I get what you mean about having conflicting conditions, it's a pain. Some things that help the liver are bad for the gallstone and vice versa, I have fibromyalgia which makes exercising etc difficult and painful, and I'm a carer to my elderly parents and ASN kids. I never normally write that all down and it suddenly seems like a lot but it is what it is and I'm enjoying seeing the numbers go down gradually on the scale so there's a silver lining there! Good thinking on the exercise bike, that sounds great. I'm now trying to decide if I have space for one once the Christmas tree is away haha, January sales here I come!!

I have it. I’m already a bit underweight and can’t afford to lose any. I’m already generally plant-based, but do eat some fish. I don’t eat any meat, drink alcohol, or eat crisps or chocolate, or any highly processed foods or takeaways. However, my diet is quite carbohydrate heavy, and I’m trying to change that. I have high cholesterol too and I’m on statins for that, and I have gallstones.

Yeah we are - allowed - fish ....

Ive been told about reducing scarchy carbs.

Already got b12 issues - less potato will mess that further

Minimal beef will help liver but not feretin levels
Ugh

Im guna get a Mediterranean diet cook book

I ordered a fatty liver disease cook book
Im trying - just feel a bit overwhelmed

@worldwidetravel2017 I hear you on the BMI grumble, I'm all boobs too and always was even when I was a tiny 8st teenager. If it makes you feel any better you're further down the scale than me to begin with- I'm here celebrating being down to 15st 4lbs. I was 17.5st in 2019 then lost 2 stone and piled it back on to find myself at 16st 5lbs after lockdown and never lost it until now. You are doing great so keep going. Sending my love to everyone else experiencing this fatty liver madness, it's not fun.

worldwidetravel2017 · 10/12/2023 14:16

Thank you

I was 2 stone lighter - before covid and before glandular fever ( and now cfs )

Ughhhhh

I've been told I have it by two different departments but as an aside to the main results. .When I tried to ask about it they shrugged their shoulders and dismissed it.

Is it a serious thing then?

WashItTomorrow · 10/12/2023 15:40

I had breast cancer . There were never any lumps. There’s different types of breast cancer and some don’t show on mammograms or ultrasound.

Sorry to hear.

Im under 40 ' no ones offered me a mammogram

I have imagery mid jan which can show inflammation

I have a dr call dec 20th - im guna ask then what the plan is re abnormal ca125

I got some quotes 4 private chest scan and may book that 4 dec / jan

I showed my mum an area that concerns me - she said that area doesnt concern her

But i will be getting a medics opinion one way or another soon

Ca125 could be raised due to potential endo - but gynae dont think i have endo - they wont do Laparoscopy as my bodies been through a lot and they know we would like a child

Me! Diagnosed last year when I had Gallbladder removed.
I’ve lost around 11ibs since but also got diagnosed with hashimotos so struggling to lose weight tbh.
My ALT levels are raised by no signs of fibrosis.
I really want to lose more weight but doing so in a manageable way, I can’t eat any fat since gallbladder removal as I get an achy afterwards in my liver area.
Doctors seem completely unbothered.
I’d be interested in what the liver cookbook is like, I’ve cut out UPF also.

Dingdongkong · 10/12/2023 16:56

Sounds like you have a lot going on. Fingers crossed you get some answers soon.
