How many times have you taken it? It took me a fair few attempts too but it doesn’t mean you’re a failure. It isn’t easy to pass so don’t be so hard on yourself. Do you know what you failed on?

Dontjudgeme101 · 28/11/2023 09:07

I am so sorry to hear that op.l took 3 times to pass my test. So l totally understand how you feel. Don’t give up. 💐💐💐

MyopicBunny · 28/11/2023 09:07

You have to keep going. The one thing you can't do is give up! I took mine 4 times and I had about 250 driving lessons 🙈

Honestly, you will get there Flowers

peppermintcrisp · 28/11/2023 09:07

It took me three times to pass. UK driving tests are intense. You will pass soon.

Seeline · 28/11/2023 09:08

Are you failing on the same things every time or different things?
Are you having lessons with an instructor - what do they say?
Manual or automatic?

SirVixofVixHall · 28/11/2023 09:08

I had a few friends who failed two or three times, one failed four times ! All passed eventually. Don’t worry, you will get there in the end. You probably just need more practice and confidence.
Everybody makes mistakes ! You aren’t a failure as a person, this is just a practical test and there is a practical solution, which is to persevere and you will get there. Have a nice cake or something today OP, you tried, it went wrong, such is life. It will be ok in the end.

areyouhavinglaugh · 28/11/2023 09:08

Took me 2 tests and 10 years to pass!

What helped me was driving with a friend in a normal car. And taking really good lessons with a great instructor.

You're not a failure it's much harder to pass these days, my eldest is currently going through it too.

strawberryblue · 28/11/2023 09:09

4th test (over a few years) in just so frustrated with myself 😭😭😭 thank you for all your kind words

Beefcurtains79 · 28/11/2023 09:10

I know the feeling, it’s horrible isn’t it. I was just trying so hard not to cry every time I failed.

FuckingHellAdele · 28/11/2023 09:13

My daughter was 7th time lucky! Some through the ballache of the pandemic as well.

I was so proud of her for just keeping on plugging away- for her it was the test itself that she struggled with. Once she finally got that pass cert, she was off! She's a great, confident driver.

Good luck, and don't give up Flowers

Breadhead1 · 28/11/2023 09:39

Ah its so disappointing isn't it! I passed 3rd time. Best thing to do is immediately book the next test, just keep going. I also didn't tell anyone I had a test after the 1st one, I found having to say I failed out loud really hard. So just took them in secret!
Keep going and you'll get there.

Fizzadora · 28/11/2023 09:42

Took me three goes and I actually reversed into a lamp post doing a three point turn on one of them😳😳😳.
It's so disappointing but you'll get there.

saturnspinkhoop · 28/11/2023 09:42

You will do it. I’m not going to say how many attempts I made, but what helped me was:-

  • a different instructor
  • more frequent lessons leading up to the test
  • an attitude of I don’t care what the examiner thinks, I will drive as I see fit. Sounds a bit weird, but I passed.

Good luck.

InTheRainOnATrain · 28/11/2023 09:49

Have you looked up the pass/fail rates for your test centre? DH failed 4 times at one of the really hard london ones so booked another test somewhere in the home counties and he passed without a single minor.

strawberryblue · 28/11/2023 09:49

The pass rate is 48%. All 4 people who took same time as me failed

It's just soooo frustrating as not so easy to get a test but I'm taking all your advice I will NOT give up

That’s the spirit op. 💐💐💐

backaftera2yearbreak · 28/11/2023 09:50

I failed 5 times. Don’t give up!

MmedeGouge · 28/11/2023 09:51

It took my DiL 7 times. She was dyspraxic as a child and she thinks this had something to do with it.
She is a marvellous driver now and can manoeuvre her car, with the horse box on the back, into the smallest of parking spaces.
Don’t despair you will get there!

tinytemper66 · 28/11/2023 17:14

I passed on my 7th...

TruthRevolution · 28/11/2023 17:24

I was exactly the same. I got so nervous that my brain wouldn't connect with my body and foot was shaking on the clutch!

In the end I took some calms the day of test and googled colours to wear to pass your driving test. I passed that time!

Goatymum · 28/11/2023 17:38

I passed 4th time & a couple of friends passed 5th time! Ds has already taken his twice and will have to do his theory again. All very annoying!
What helped me was getting my own car and just practising loads w dh.

Must be about 40 years ago, but my DM passed on the 5th go, aged about 50. She eventually switched from the Romford area to somewhere in South Wales that reputedly didn't have any roundabouts on the test route😂. But I do wonder if the hill starts were steeper...

Anyway, to OP - keep going, and good luck.

TooShortToReachThatShelf · 28/11/2023 18:13

I failed 5! I passed on the 6th test, aged 37 (I'd been trying to learn for about 16 months)

purplewater · 28/11/2023 18:14

Get the Testi app it searches for cancellations so you can book one. You need a test date first though even if it's months away. Best thing to do now is some lessons and get back out there for another test. Don't leave it so long and you will do it. You're not a failure at all
