under my arms have got very sore and red in a weird oval shape - how should I treat this? I’ve been putting E45 on them today. What’s wrong with them?

Have you changed deodorant or washing powder? Worn something that has a rough texture?

bobotothegogo · 19/11/2023 23:09

Ringworm - you need some antifungal cream.

You can also try applying anti dandruff shampoo or diluted apple cider vinegar.

Iloveanicegarden · 19/11/2023 23:10

Try an anti fungal cream such as Daktacourt or Canestan. Monitor what happens over a week.

Catabogus · 19/11/2023 23:18

I get this sometimes. Looks exactly like that! It’s not ringworm in my case, just chafing. I usually stick a bit of medicated talc on. Clears up in 3 or 4 days.

Send a pic to the Gp.
Mine prescribed a steroid cream which sorted it out.

Aydel · 19/11/2023 23:28

I get this. Wash them with Hibiscrub and apply Eumovate (over the counter steroid cream). Or doctor may prescribe something stronger.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 19/11/2023 23:30

I've had this when I put a strong deodorant on after shaving. I had to not wear deodorant for a few days and put sudocream on.

I had red patches under my arms after covid jab, guessed it was something to do with lymph system being alerted.

henrysugar12 · 19/11/2023 23:38

I had this a little while ago, was a reaction to my deodorant. Was surprised as it's the same one I'd been using for years, but then found out they had changed the ingredients and the new one I'd just used was from the new "batch".

kazzikaz · 19/11/2023 23:47

I got this when I switched to wild deodorant. The only one I can use is the coconut and vanilla. All the other scents cause this reaction. I've narrowed it down to the limonene in the ingredients and the coconut and vanilla is the only one that doesn't have it included. It went away pretty quickly after I stopped using the other scents.

Inca22 · 19/11/2023 23:57

I got this when I traded my cheap deodorant for one that was supposed to be organise etc - it was an independent brand . Went away after I stopped using it

Inca22 · 19/11/2023 23:58

*organic

BitOutOfPractice · 19/11/2023 23:59

Yes, I had the covid and flu jabs at the same time two weeks ago and I had something very similar.

MiltonKeynesCentral · 20/11/2023 00:43

That’s a fungal infection.

Angrymum22 · 20/11/2023 00:52

Either allergy to deodorant or fungal infection.

caringcarer · 20/11/2023 00:53

It looks lovely like a sweat rash. You could use the Dove dry stick. Wash first then use the stick It's creamy and that rash should go overnight if you use it.

caringcarer · 20/11/2023 00:54

Really not lovely.

FiveShelties · 20/11/2023 00:55

I used to get a sweat rash which looks just like that. Changed deodorant to Mitcham and never had it since.

How do you send a picture to your gp?

Ohnoooooooo · 20/11/2023 01:41

I’ve had ring worm and it didn’t look like that.

SeaBreezeDream · 20/11/2023 01:53

I had this in the summer, no idea why.

GP prescribed Daktarin plus a steroid cream and told me to stop shaving. Was clear in a week.

steff13 · 20/11/2023 01:54

I get a rash like this when I use deodorant with baking soda in it.

WiddlinDiddlin · 20/11/2023 03:53

Fungal infection, sweat rash, reaction to deodorant - they'll all look the same really, all irritated skin.

Clean it, dry it (hairdryer on cool) completely, try something for fungal skin fold things like athletes foot or even thrush.

Also ditch deodorant for a day or two.

If theres no improvement then its probably not the deodorant or the fungal thing - speak to your GP.
