So 6th oct i went in for an endo op, week later got hit down by the flu! Went back
to work for a week then the sunday i woke up with loud tinnutis, dizzyness (veritgo) being sick and headaches.
dr said its due to having the flu!
the veritgo eased but im still dizzy, and feeling very sick!
how long will this go on for? Im soooo fed up 😩😩 have a little one to look after is very hard with this.
started antibiotics also incase its an inner ear infection.
any tips or advice i would really appriciate it x

Day to day is mainly OK apart from the tinnitus and hearing loss! It was a challenge in covid as I work in healthcare & masks just made everything harder to hear.
If I have an attack now, I need to sleep for 24 hours then I feel really tired and not quite with it for a few days.
I really try not to get overly stressed, I've found acceptance of the status quo very hard but better for me in the long run, if that makes sense?

PhantomErik · 14/11/2023 13:00

I had labyrinthitis a few years ago, I'd had a cold then one morning woke up felt dizzy, could barely make it down the stairs, vomited etc & had to call DH home from work. I was given an injection that eased it enough to be able to open my eyes without vomiting, that lasted about an hour. I was then given anti- emetics (Stemil, I think). They helped a little bit but I was bed bound for 3 weeks & it was 5 weeks before I could drive my car again.

I now get quite scared if something makes me dizzy as it brings it all back.

piscofrisco · 14/11/2023 13:48

It had eased off a bit, now awful again, I hope just due to ear infection. I've got antibiotic spray for the ear x

Starrrz · 14/11/2023 14:45

@DoveOfPiss i bet the masks made it sooo much harder bless you! How often do you get an attack?
i get exactly what you mean! It must be hard as i guess having to make changes in your life.
do you ever feel like you are sensitive to sounds? Right now i can almost hear a car coming from far away. As weird as that sounds x

@piscofrisco oo no im soo sorry! It will definitely ease. Try and stay positive ( as hard as it is) but it will.
the ear infection has definitely made it flare for sure x

Thankyou @Starrrz... I'm trying not to Google tinnitus as all that comes up is that is basically incurable and that's making me panic a bit

susiedaisy1912 · 14/11/2023 15:21

Try not to think the worst, I know it's hard, I am guilty of doing the same thing but it will pass, it's the cold and flu virus that has triggered it, I am currently off sick with a head cold and labyrinthitis as well, I'm feeling very sorry for myself and feeling a bit anxious that this is what the rest of my life will be like, but deep down I know that I was fine ten days ago until I got the cold, and I will be ok again soon. Let's all try to stay positive together. Flowers

Starrrz · 14/11/2023 16:22

@piscofrisco it will definitely go away or settle back down. My tinnitus is very loud atm and im hoping it will :) in a week or 2 it will be alot better x

Hi op and all. I'm on my second set of antibiotics for ear infection and still have the loud tinnitus too. Feel a bit ropey but have got a lot to do this weekend so making myself get up. I just seem to get suddenly very tired and my head feels like it weighs a tonne. Hope everyone else is feeling better.

Keep doing them because it does work. I'm ok; haven't had an attack for a while now thankfully.

susiedaisy1912 · 19/11/2023 16:35

Day 15 of the cold and day 12 of labyrinthitis. Still taking cinnarizine for it feel slightly better but still unsteady on my feet if I try to move my head from side to side without thinking, still feel tired trying to do anything much. Due to go back to work on Thursday so fingers crossed I've improved a bit more by then. Going to drive locally tomorrow which is the first time since it happened.

Is it ok to join the thread, only I'm not sure if what I'm experiencing is the same as many of you on here? I've only had occasional earache with it, my worst symptoms are headaches that make me feel dizzy when I stand up (painkillers not helping). I feel really tired but can't sleep very well, often waking up in the middle of the night and having trouble getting off to sleep in the first place. Slightly runny nose, occasional sneezes. Had really awful neck pain last weekend, stiff and sore, and now my arms feel heavy and tired at times. Just generally feeling really fed up and finding it difficult to imagine ever feeling better! The headaches are usually on one side at a time, but some days on the left and some days on the right. I don't feel nauseous, it's much more of a dizzy feeling and head throbbing whenever I get up and move, and my ears are ringing.

I'm doing a lot better thanks. Not completely gone but I'm about 90% better. Been using antibiotic spray for my ears and taking it a bit slower but so relieved it's healing. How is everyone else doing?
