I always take mine on the left arm as thats what im used to. Is it because of the lymph nodes you cant do it that side? Or are the readings different?

i asked if I could have mine out today but he said no its not worth it. Ive had it inn11 months now and I long to swim.

Yeah, no needles and no blood pressure cuff on the side that's lost the lymph nodes although actually my online reading suggests there is little evidence that a BP cuff could cause lymphoedema.

Remaker · 15/11/2023 23:07

@Slitheringheights yes I had capox treatment too. I had to have a break for a couple of weeks as the tablets gave me colitis (basically out of control diarrhoea- such a lovely topic to discuss lol) but I got back to treatment and finished the course.

Definitely harder to distance from an 11 yr old especially during a possibly anxious time for her while you’re going through treatment. Even my big teens (17 & 15) who are normally very independent were wanting to spend more time with me.

Wishing you all the best for the rest of your treatment.

TwigTheWonderKid · 15/11/2023 23:11

@Slitheringheights I'm on CAPOX, if there is anything you want to know.

Morning all. Just had a call from a consultant at the breast unit to discuss the results of my biopsy. It does show a papilloma which is benign. But to be sure that this is all, I will be having another biopsy - a vacuum-assisted excision - with a bigger needle to take more tissue for them to check. So all good at this stage. Thank you so much for the support and advice!

@WellWellSaidTheRockingChair
That's a very scary thing to hear, I know

Nothing will reassure you until they say all is well but try to focus on the stats
The vast majority of recalls are fine, absolutely fine.

And if not, breast cancer is largely well treated. The whole point of mammograms is to catch it early so it's sorted

And we're all here for the handhold in the meantime

Tilllly · 16/11/2023 03:10

Octopus45 · 15/11/2023 18:07

Thanks '@tam23, I'll probably take it all off in a couple of days. Have been washing myself still and using deodorant.

Could you pop a clean dressing on, if you feel better with it on?

Tilllly · 16/11/2023 03:17

Had a ride in an ambulance 🚑

Back in own bed now

I have another chest infection, in the tubes, stuck under the tumour - who knew that was a thing?

I had (have) a stabbing pain, actually thought I'd pulled a muscle from coughing. It got worse and worse so I rang for advice and next thing.... 🚑 🚨I felt such a fraud as I was perfectly able to walk

More steroids and antibiotics
And on the plus side, very handsome doctor 😁 thank you NHS 😁

WellWellSaidTheRockingChair · 16/11/2023 06:09

Thank you, I’ll update the thread later.

Octopus45 · 16/11/2023 08:04

@Tilly sorry to hear about your infection, good about the handsome doctor though. I will take the dressing off today, will go and buy some more dressings.

Given the massive effect of exercise on recurrence risk, looks like it's much higher than the effect of other treatments, I would have thought there's a strong argument for having it removed and replaced at a later date if need be. Presumably you can insist, it's your body. The NHS can be so short sighted at times if it's not written in a guideline.

yes I know the feeling with the diarrhoea, nearly had an embarrassing accident in a swimming pool. Enough said!! I actually had to run. Hope your good.

TwigTheWonderKid
thank you. I’m going for my third cycle tomorrow. Half way through. It’s been ok so far. Apart from diarrhoea and tiredness. I can’t stop eating either. Finding hair all over the house. 😩 hope you are good xx

LuciaPillson · 16/11/2023 17:57

@Tilllly Sorry to hear about the infection, are you feeling any better?

@Slitheringheights Are you allowed to take Imodium (loperamide) for the diarrhea?

lucysmam · 16/11/2023 18:05

Omfg I just wrote a whole long ranty post & lost the fucker!!

Anyway.

I

Am

Fuming

Long story short - dentist a success, dodgy tooth would have become a problem at some point anyway because the root grew deformed. Being referred to surgeon for that out for speed & comfort. Small filling required elsewhere but she's not overly concerned just wants to stop any worsening.

I walked in to a letter from cardio stating I "deny" having any symptoms of cardiomyopathy & "deny" taking otc meds regularly. Beg fucking pardon I am not a liar! Fortunately for the reg who wrote it, I had spoken to him about 5 mins before reading it. Unfortunately for the secretary, I will be calling them tomorrow to TELL them to re-word the fucker. How very fucking dare they phrase things like that & have me sound like a liar!

And they've stopped the water tablet. My kidneys are now over-working. He only did this because I commented that one of "his" meds must have caused me to lose a stone in a week. Cue head scratching & "are you sure?"

Yes mate. 100% fucking sure. He breezily passed comment then that "you weren't retaining water anyway". So why give me a water tablet!?

Eye

Fucking

Roll

I. Was. Right.

& I told you so.

Fucking fuming.

I'm ranting away with Pudsey bear ears on my head so they go in my handbag 🤣 & think I'll pour 🍷

Never easy is it!?

Slitheringheights · 16/11/2023 18:45

LuciaPillson · Today 17:57
hi yes I can take Imodium. Not really used it that much only after I have had the drip, straight after. I was on a weekend away and took the kids swimming, out of the blue I had to use the toilet quick 😩. I had a lot of fatty foods and fizzy juice. Not really used to all since I had my colon surgery 11 weeks ago. I have been living of yogurts, and healthy stuff.

WellWellSaidTheRockingChair · 16/11/2023 20:02

Hi all, thankfully I got good news.

the “dodgy spot” from my three yearly mammogram was still there in today’s mammogram, but ultrasound showed it to be innocent cysts, so a fraught few hours in hospital and then the al clear.

I am so relieved

lucysmam · 16/11/2023 20:13

🥳 @WellWellSaidTheRockingChair brilliant news!

Can I join this thread please

Been to breast clinic today and I have "worrying" areas on the bottom of my left breast and lymph nodes
Had mammogram, biopsy and scan, Dr says it's very likely to be stage 3 or 4. Thinks fast growing as I'm only 34 but says that responds well to treatment?
I'm being called back for a CT scan and they will be seeing me next week for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
I know it's normal but I'm just so scared. I've got no proper lumps but the whole under side of my breast is abnormal. DH said on the scan they measured two sections, one of less than 10mm and one of around 12. But it was a long black line, not a round lump.
I don't know what I'm asking for with this. I'm just so scared. We've got three young children, we're due to be married in three weeks. They said it's "very unlikely" it's spread elsewhere and it would be "very unexpected" but that doesn't mean anything does it? I've been googling and I'm worried I have inflammatory breast cancer as my breast has been painful on and off.
I wish I could go to sleep and wake up and none of this had happened. I don't want to die.

@Tilllly Sorry to hear about the infection, are you feeling any better?

Much better today thanks lovey

Rested a lot

youdontneedtopoo · 16/11/2023 21:03

When I write it down it looks so much worse.

Tilllly · 16/11/2023 21:07

@youdontneedtopoo
Hello love, I'm sorry you find yourself here but you are "welcome" if that's the right word

It's terrifying to hear, we have all been where you are
And no one can tell you it'll be ok

Try not to spiral into panic. Try to focus on the little you know, and not guesses and speculation

This is the worst time - it will never be worse than this. You will have facts and a plan very soon

And we're here every single step of the way

Tilllly · 16/11/2023 21:09

STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM GOOGLE!

breastcancernow.org

This is a decent site
Google is not your friend right now

lucysmam · 16/11/2023 21:11

@youdontneedtopoo first step away from Dr Google. It will scare you silly! Second, welcome to the thread none of us want to be on. Lovely place with lovely folks...shame about the circs though!

Third...the oncologists know what they're doing, honest. Trust the entirely shitty process - it's not brilliant but they will do their best for you (and irritate the bejeesus out of you along the way if you're anything like me!).

The waiting's the worst of it all, once you have some sort of plan going up & get into a sort of "rhythm" it gets easier.

How old are your dc?

TopOfTheCliff · 17/11/2023 00:02

Yay @WellWellSaidTheRockingChair we celebrate all good news on this thread! Now off you go back to non Cancer land and keep checking your boobs! Hooray!

@youdontneedtopoo welcome. What @Tilllly said plus try and find a Calm app or yoga breathing to help you with the sheer terror of what you are going through. I have breathed my way through 40 months of treatment for two different breast cancers and it really helps! I’m now apparently disease free and recovering but I remember that scary first month of scans and waiting for a plan. I was surprised when folks said it was the hardest part but it is because of the uncertainty. It gets easier honestly!

@lucysmam the virtual rage room has been soundproofed and is all yours this evening! Enjoy letting off steam.

I went back to my old surgery today to see my ex colleagues and they are surprisingly still missing me and want me back. Not a chance chaps! I’m busy seizing the day. I had a cool haircut today too. A good day!

Sending strength to you all

Thank you everyone (and sorry about my username, I didn't mean to post under this one 😂)
DH and I cried a lot, got some sleep, feel a bit better this morning. I keep chanting "its not a death sentence" on repeat which seems to help.
Feeling very sick this morning but I keep telling myself I've just had a rough biopsy, life has been stressful anyway, and I have breast cancer, which you'd assume would make you feel a bit rough.
DC are 8, 5 and 3. I can forget about everything when I'm with them and just be mummy.
