Horrible stomach bug - how to stop diarrhoea hurting so much on cut arse?

AngryBirdsNoMore · 09/10/2023 09:52

I’m in so much pain.

I am on the third day of shitting my guts out, and despite wiping gently, my arse is now bleeding and my anus is so, so sore.

I am sudocreming after each bowel movement but it doesn’t help during the actual poo. And I’m having movements 2-3 times every hour, sometimes more.

Can I do anything? Is there anything I can apply or eat or drink?

It is incredibly painful :(

Isotonic drinks over flat fizzy drinks every time. These contain sugars and salts which is what you need.

Electrolytes are, essentially, salts. An isotonic drink is one which is balanced between water and electrolytes so won't increase diarrhoea (which both fizzy drinks - flat or not - and caffeinated drinks do).

Diarolyte is a medically designed electrolyte drink, formulated to correct the big imbalances you get with diarrhoea. You will feel much better for taking it and it will help with the diarrhoea.

I would try metanium as a barrier cream- use before pooing.

don’t use any toilet roll just rinse with jug of water or shower.

StBrides · 09/10/2023 10:26

I do agree as you're on day 3 it's worth a call to the gp, too, especially as you have some bleeding.

HermioneWeasley · 09/10/2023 10:26

I had this a few weeks ago. Mine lasted 4 days so hopefully you’re nearly at the end. Take rehydration sachets, they really will help.

i feel for you!

Motorcyclemptiness · 09/10/2023 10:27

try Penaten - much better than sudocream

NoMor · 09/10/2023 10:34

Eat something. If you only have liquid going in you'll only have liquid coming out! White rice or bananas.

endofthelinefinally · 09/10/2023 10:49

Ice cubes to suck are absorbed more slowly. Make them with dioralyte solution.

KnittedCardi · 09/10/2023 10:57

Additionally to all OP's, I always find nibbling in crackers, or grissini really helps. Salty and plain on the stomach.

Covidwoes · 09/10/2023 12:17

@AngryBirdsNoMore I had this, and it turned out to me campylobacter food poisoning. Worth ringing the GP if it carries on. I ended up really dehydrated.

AngryBirdsNoMore · 09/10/2023 21:19

Thank you everyone for the excellent advice. Anusol, wet wipes and diaralyte (well, Morrisons version because Amazon do same day Morrisons delivery) have improved the situation somewhat. My guts are still pretty liquid but they’re no longer out of control and my arse is much more comfortable.

Thank you so much.

I am now going in to day four of terrible arse so will call the doctor tomorrow.

Made the mistake of having dinner with DC because I felt so much better. That was a mistake unfortunately.

Bless you. Sorry you're feeling so rough. Eat if you are hungry but might be an idea to stick to small frequent portions of bland easily digestible food until your tummy settles. Dioralyte to rehydrate and keep using the wet wipes and anusol cream. What might also help is a bath in some epsom salts to help sore bits heal.

WorriedMillie · 09/10/2023 21:30

Yellow metanium! Must be the yellow one :)

ZebraD · 09/10/2023 22:30

Ah glad you were feeling better…hope it continues despite having tea tonight x

HermioneWeasley · 10/10/2023 07:50

How are you today @AngryBirdsNoMore

Having dinner was a mistake, put it that way. Might just be diaralyte and dry toast today. I’m SO HUNGRY but last night was very unpleasant.

Don’t feel like it’s improving - but no doctors calls available…

Sorry to read that @@AngryBirdsNoMore don't rush things, eat little and often & only easy to digest foods. Introduce normal diet gradually, your insides need time to heal.

Definitely keep trying to speak to a doctor.

HermioneWeasley · 10/10/2023 08:37

@AngryBirdsNoMore i had my worst night on the third night when I too attempted to eat something. By afternoon or early evening of the 4th day I was on the mend. Hope it’s the same for you

AngryBirdsNoMore · 10/10/2023 08:58

Just had some toast, let’s see how that goes.

This is day four, as it came on overnight on Friday-Saturday. I’ve lost half a stone. Just diaraliting, anusoling and wet wiping away…

Thanks for the hope @HermioneWeasley!

Use babies water wipes. You can dab gently with them and they won't pull on the skin like paper can and won't irritate your skin further.

Normalsizedsalad · 10/10/2023 09:05

Wash with water don't wipe. It helps to clean and sooth. You can use some small watering can for better aim. Then you can very gently just dab and dry. It will help to keep cuts clean as well

MaitlandGirl · 10/10/2023 09:10

Bananas, apple sauce, rice and soft dry toast are the easiest things for your gut to tolerate when it’s this unhappy.

I really feel for you - my daughter is allergic to pork and shits for England if she accidentally has any (or just the bacon fat on the frying pan). She’s always so miserable but finds the above foods do help.

I’ve always been crap at doing a water clean without it going everywhere but my arse. Used to live in India where you have the universal ‘bum gun’ which was bliss. But not really an option here (we did look at getting one plumbed in, I am this week sorely regretting not doing so).

OP posts:
fearfuloffluff · 10/10/2023 09:31

Could you improvise a bum gun from clean squirty bottle (ketchup, mayonnaise etc?)

Immodium traps the bacteria inside you, it's better to let it out.

Drink a lot, very easy to get dehydrated with diarrhoea.

Overthebow · 10/10/2023 09:36

If there’s no doctors calls available could you get to the pharmacy today to ask their advice? They may have something that would help, I wouldnt take Imodium without advice as it can make things worse.
