Do you have an out of hours gp surgery? Maybe someone there could advise you... Sorry its not much help really is it. Hold on someone will be along shortly who has probably experienced this. Take Care

TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 16/12/2004 20:29

how far along are you?

its most probably an implantation bleed

remember brown blood is old blood

many women bleed on and off, or ongoing in early stages of pregnancy

popsycal · 16/12/2004 20:30

how pregnant are you?

i had this with both my pregnancies....from around 6 weeks to around 10 weeks or so...i think for me it is just one of those things that happens...still best to get it checked out though

Is it definitely brown? is it more like mucus than blood?

coppertop · 16/12/2004 20:30

Better to be on the safe side and find out if everything's okay. Good luck. xxx

virginbonkerz · 16/12/2004 20:31

am 6 weeks and it is very watery blood but i cant stop crying and dont know what to do!

OP posts:
TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 16/12/2004 20:31

I had this at 6 weeks (or 7) and rang NHS direct they said its probably nothing but even if it was the first signs of miscarriage there was nothing I could do to prevent it

Ring your midwife tomorrow and arrange for an early pregnancy scan .. it will set your mind at rest

I had bleeding around 11 weeks too BTW (DD now 7 monhts old)

TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 16/12/2004 20:32

posts crossed .. it is MOST LIKELY implantation bleed

please try to relax

popsycal · 16/12/2004 20:33

6 weeks is a little too early to find much out with a scan..they like to wait til around 8 weeks,

to reassure you, i had this both times from about 6 weeks
ring the midwife tomorrow - she may suggest you go to your local early preg assessment unit to be checked

try to stay calm - there isnt anything you can do hun

popsycal · 16/12/2004 20:33

ps i am 29 weeks and had a slight bleed on monday (all is well)

mrschristmaswallace · 16/12/2004 20:35

put your mind at rest and ring your local day unit as hosp and pop along to see them. youll worry yourself sick if you dont and hopefully then can assure you all is well

TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 16/12/2004 20:40

I had an EPU scan at 6 weeks ..it is late enough to detect a hearbeat .. it is an internal scan though

feastofstevenmom · 16/12/2004 20:59

agree with other posters to try to fix up a scan at your local EPU tomorrow morning to reassure you. I had three days of light brown bleeding and cramps when I was 5 weeks with DS, and everything was fine. Six weeks might be on the early side to see a heartbeat tho - especially if you could be a few days out with dates.

aloha · 16/12/2004 21:51

I have posted on your other thread. I had a scan at six weeks which showed a heartbeat after bleeding with brown blood. All was and is fine and am 32 weeks.

singersgirl · 16/12/2004 23:46

Hi, I was the same as aloha and had brown spotting at 6 weeks - doctor scanned to be on the safe side and there was a visible heartbeat. DS now 6! Also had a little bleeding at around 7 weeks with DS2, now 3. It was actually quite different from the miscarriage that I had at 7 weeks between the 2 - the bleeding and cramps intensified pretty quickly. Good luck! Best to see your GP and try and get a scan arranged.

virginbonkerz · 17/12/2004 00:09

have just got back from epu and have been booked in for scan on wed 22nd. My cervix is closed which is good and no red blood yet but they cant rule out a threatened miscarriage, just have to rest and pray! Thanks everyone

How are you doing today, bonkerz?

tammylove · 17/12/2004 12:20

Thinking about you Hun, im sure everything will be ok, just take it easy xx

serenity · 17/12/2004 12:32

There's a really good article about bleeding in pregnancy in Novembers Junior Pregnancy and Baby. It was written by an MN regular, and some of the cases used are MN posters (me, for one!) It might help. I tried to see if it was on their website, but I don't think they put 'current' articles up there.

{{{hugs}}} to you.

pantomimEDAMe · 17/12/2004 12:38

Virginbonkerz, I hope it turns out OK - my sister had some bleeding around 6 weeks (enough to make her panic) but the scan found everything was alright. Not much help right now, but there will be a comprehensive article on this in the next issue of Pregnancy and birth. Afraid it's not out until New Year, though.
