Lumpy breast

I went the doctors yesterday as I could feel a lump in my right breast. It's smooth and moveable but he could also feel a smaller one which was next to it. Now this is smooth and moveable. I can't only find it if I press hard into the breast. I've been put on the 2 week pathway for an appointment but I'm worried as hell. Anyone else had anything like this before in one breast? I am 41.

That sounds good! Mine is much the same trying not to go at it as I made it very swollen. Got a cancellation appt for next Tuesday morning! Please update on Friday 🥰

GreenMonty · 19/09/2023 15:44

Wishing you both the best. Glad you got your cancellation Healthfreak.

All quiet so far from the Breast Screening crowd here.

I always try to focus on no news is good news in some circumstances 🤞 so let’s hope for the best for both of us! Look forward to your update & I will do so also on Tuesday :)

Update.

Fred the lump has left the building via a syringe full of gunk!

Fred, despite my self-diagnosis of multiple rare and exotic cancers of which I have no symptoms, proved to be a common 3cm cyst. There was a big black blob on the screen with some "bits" in which the Dr said tends to happen when people prod 😬

I was, frankly terrified by the process, but the Dr's were reassuring and all tests were done within an hour of my appt. It does seem there are efficient pathways where the merest hint of cancer is a possibility (I've experienced this in the endocrinology clinic since I'm screened for familial paraganglioma each year - can't be bothered to explain but it's an inherited cancer which hasn't yet manifested).

Anyway. I've been told that I can probably expect more of these since I've now had one in perimenopause and it's reasonable, in my case, to observe it through one period but no more than that.

I won't say don't panic because I've been a stressed out disaster zone but the clinic really was reassuring and wasn't the huge ordeal I feared.

I am glad Drlouise - it is scary but glad you've come through okay. Celebrate this weekend!🥳

Or tits!

I've literally gone down a cup size - obviously, it wasn't inflammatory breast cancer as expertly diagnosed by me. Seriously though, I'm going to look into addressing my hypochondria now.

weegiemum · 22/09/2023 15:34

My result is less positive, had mammograms, ultrasound, they stuck a needle in to see if it was a cyst but nothing came out so they did a biopsy. The consultants I saw (breast surgeon and consultant breast radiologist) both think it's either a pre-cancerous lump or very early cancer, no spread to my lymph nodes on ultrasound. I have to go back in two weeks to let them have their multidisciplinary meeting and they'll give me a plan, which will definitely include a lumpectomy.

It was all very efficient - all this took almost exactly 2 hours. Everyone I saw was pleasant and nice and they were very helpful with my mobility issues (I have a neurological illness that has me in a wheelchair outside the house or very short distances).

So dh and I went out for tapas for lunch and I am now all tucked up for a rest on the sofa. Going to try to sleep for a bit!

GreenMonty · 22/09/2023 17:16

Oh WeegieMum I'm sorry to read this - I often see you on MN. At least they got it early💐 Tapas sounds excellent and rest up now.

lillie23 · 22/09/2023 17:22

Im sorry you didn't get good news. But good they have found it early. Thank god you went and got it check. Sending big hugs 💐
