I hope that he starts to feel better soon. Hugs to you.

misdee · 18/12/2004 20:26

basically the hospital is crap!!

he didnt have his full meds the whole time he was in there (they stopped his bisoprolol, cut his frusimide, didnt give warfarin etc), and they couldnt find what was wrong with him. I am getting onto his cardiologist this week, to see if she can arrange something, evn push through for harefield assessment quicker. At least home he is getting some rest, is getting his meds right and is more relaxed.

he is going back in today. just phoned the on-call gp and he wants dh to go into casaulty to haver electrolyte and potassiam levels checked. If these fall too low apparently it can cause the digoxin and frusimide to have a toxix effect on his gheart rather than helping him. he has tp pick up a letter from the clinic on the way so a+e will know what they are doing.

have a feeling he'll be kept in again.

Santasluckylittlehelper · 19/12/2004 09:23

Misdee - hope it goes OK. Dd had the digoxin problem once after having a somach bug. Glad the on-call gp seems to have something about him anyway. Keep us posted.

I have been ill every xmas with my heart so I really feel for him. This yr I have a chesty cold and am praying it doesn't get worse I hope they let him come home for xmas if he is well enough Do you have people to spend xmas with if he doesn't?

misdee · 19/12/2004 16:14

i'll go to his parents place for xmas. i'm sure they will look after us. he says he is gonna try and get a free present.

they looked after me today at the hospital, gave me lunch as they know i'm expecting, and we'd been there since this morning.

misdee · 19/12/2004 16:21

think its our crazy sense of humour that keeps us going!!

i do have a urge to go on a spending spree tho. that always happens when dh isnt about ;)

OP posts:
noddyholder · 19/12/2004 16:25

Every time I get a good day I can't stop spending! My dp loves it though as he says it shows him I am well.I hope 2005 brings good news to us all Agree about the sense of humour it certainly helps in this house!I am really optimistic most of the time sometimes the doctors try to knock this out of me but I can't do miserable for long. When your dp has his transplant you will have a great life because you will appreciate every thing more than your average person.

misdee · 19/12/2004 16:31

his cardiologist says he'd be able to run the marathon after a transplant. dh says he never could before, but he may well try!

They di another chest x-ray this morning, and more blood tests/cultures, even tho the doc says they will probably be clear like last week. just wondering if he is possibly reacting to the medication.

Sometimes I just get times where I feel awful and nothing is ever found.I think it is part and parcel of cardiomyopathy and heart failure.A really good rest may do him good if he can relax in hospital. The meds are my real problem too.Once they find one that works it invariably has dreadful side effects and if i get dehydrated things are even worse.Could he get a quick appt after xmas with the transplant team It sounds to me like he should be a priority.I wish you lived near to me as you are the only other young family I know living with this Even my own family don't fully accept that I'm ill

misdee · 19/12/2004 16:44

where are u?

i dont know any young people in the area with DCm either, tho the CMA isnt too far away. just wish i had a real support group close by at times.
