You will be, missy!!!

misdee · 14/12/2004 22:46

Just remembered something the doc on a+e said. said they wanted to give him anti biotics just in case there is an infection present and to stop it before it gets a chance to get to his heart as obviously his heart is weaker.

wish the appt for harefield wasnt taking so long.

I agree with the others about the oxygen. When I am admitted they usually give it to me and I feel loads better but have never been offered it at home.Maybe you should ask.I understand him wanting home but an infection in the heart which is already weak would set him back further.I have decided not to go to the carol service today as had a whole night of huffing and puffing and feel exhausted.I feel so guilty but it is the 1st one I have missed and just not well enough Love to you and your family misdee I hope the docs sort things out

noddyholder · 15/12/2004 18:43

misdee how are things today?

misdee · 15/12/2004 18:48

Just got in. Dh is no better, but n oworse. his temp was peaking again when i left, so wont be out till that settles down anyway. they tried him for a while with no O2, and his sats went back to 95%, so just about ok, tho not brilliant. His liver function tests has come up abnormal, which he found out after i said to him and the nurse that his eyes seemed yellow, but again the doc isnt worried about that. He sound be moved today at aome point from medical assessment unit onto proper ward, but i have no idea where they are moving him to. so tomorrow its looks like i'll have to hunt him down.

I also have my own appt tomorrow for CTG monitoring, fortunatly dd1 is at nursery and grandma will collect her, and dd2 is gonna be looked after by mieow for an hour or so. i dont know how i'd cope without family support!

Liver results are often abnormal from time to time in cardiac patients. Two days after my transplant a junior doctor said you'll be needing a liver next!We were petrified until consultant said the liver results can do this in cardiac patients due to water balance and meds HTH

misdee · 15/12/2004 18:51

I was wondering if its the meds/fluid thats causing the reaction. i hope they move him onto cardiology ward tonight. would feel better if he was under the care of huis consultant, but thats at ta different hospital.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 15/12/2004 18:53

moving someone with his condition should be a priority as not many doctors are up to speed on cardiomyopathy. If i ever see a general doc they ask the most unbelievable irrelevant questions.how far is the other hospital?

misdee · 15/12/2004 18:55

10miles or so. but it far away from train station, so i wouldnt be able to get there.

He has had some stupid questions aasked.

'are you breathless? is it your asthma?'

'yes i am, no my asthma is under control, this is a different breathlessness and it bloody well hurts!!!'

I always get is your period due or are you unduly stressed?NO I apparently have the heart of a 70 yr old. What do they learn at med school?I took 2 yrs to get diagnosed Has your dp seen professor mackenna?

misdee · 15/12/2004 19:02

no. he is under a dr lynch, who is cardiologist at stevenage, and she is great, very straight talking, and he is being referred to Dr Banner at harefield as well, for transplant assessment.

noddyholder · 15/12/2004 19:05

Good!Profeesor m is the world authority on cardiomyopathy and sent me home saying I had mild enlargement which would correct itself with bp control then changed his mind when i got pregnant and said I should have a termination as my heart couldnt take a pregnancy! You are lucky to have someone good

misdee · 15/12/2004 19:47

Did you take his advice?

Have just been making arrangementns for tomorrow. got the nursery run sorted and mieow is on standby lol.

Unfortunately I took his advice (2001)and was told by consultant in brighton 2 weeks ago that I could probably have gone ahead with the pregnancy at that time with no ill effects! Now feel to far down the road to think of it again ds is 10 although I would love to

misdee · 15/12/2004 21:27

that is a shame. there are 2 ladies on DCM board who had babies against docs advice, and one ladies heart improved during pregnancy, which was surprising.

If you had a transplant, would your body be able to cope now with another pregnancy?

Did you dh see your ds sing? hope he got a video/pics.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 15/12/2004 21:31

the heart often improves in pregnancy as the blood volume in the body is higher and weak hearts like that!Dp didn't get any pics but friends did.I am not eligible for a transplant ATM as there are other treatments but I'm not at that stage yet. There is a therapy in america which has been proving v succesful and is a possibility for me but I am 39 so time for more babies is marching on.I plan to discuss this at my next appt in march GOOD LUCK TOMORROW WE ARE TOO YOUNG TO BE HAVING THIS CHAT BUT i'm glad we are my rl friends don't really get how ill I am V good actress!!!

misdee · 15/12/2004 21:34

Just put on a brave face.............

39 is not old for having kids

hope the research comes good.
