Keto diet and bowel movements

ForTheLoveOfGrace · 07/06/2023 13:43

I read another thread that it is normal not to have any bowel movements on a Keto diet for 1 or even 2 weeks 😬. I'm on day 8 of no movements and starting to feel really rubbish.

So I've decided to take something to help me go.

Any idea how to improve this so it doesn't happen in the future? I'm really good at making sure I drink plenty of water and eat a lot of keto fibre foods.

Any other thoughts appreciated.

Have you tried psyllium husk? My friend became really constipated on keto and now takes psyllium husk.

That's a good shout. @Daffodilsonthewindowsill

Anyone got any suggestions on eating more a particular keto food that worked for them?

I didn't have that problem when I was doing Keto. Are you eating plenty of salad and green veggies?

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 08/06/2023 20:47

Yes to eating veg. It's really easy on keto to fall into the trap of existing on meat and cheese but there are keto friendly fruits and veg that you can and should eat to maintain a nutritionally balanced diet.

Lemon /apple cider vinegar (if you can stomach vinegar in the morning) first thing in the mornings.

I was awful. Ended up having to mainline a box of bran flakes and learned what dulcoease was for. I eat 5 dates ( clutches your pearls at the sugar),every 2 days and drink enough water I can practically feel my kidneys float. I feel awful when I haven't been, so sympathy.

CheeseDreamsTonight · 08/06/2023 21:35

Chia seeds get it all moving!

Thanks everybody. I'm all good now Blush I took some Dulcolax which were brilliant.

Yes I eat tons of green veg and chia seeds but I reckon not enough fruit. Dates sound like a good idea too. Thanks for the links I'll take a gander.

Thanks again!

A lot of fruit isn't Keto-friendly (full of carbs), but your health is more important than your diet 👍
