It is still a classic bulls eye rash.

SixKeys · 03/06/2023 11:39

Honestly for the sake of my health I would be going to a&e, saying I feel unwell also and requesting antibiotics as you've been let down here OP.

Mumma2Ro · 03/06/2023 11:37

It’s better today. The pen mark is when I drew around it last night so it’s actually gotten smaller

You are still infected with Lyme disease. The rash only lasts for a little while but the bacteria will proliferate until you are treated. It's much easier to treat the infection now before it becomes systemic.

hohum12345 · 03/06/2023 11:40

DD had same and was initially fobbed off by ooh GP.
Ignoring advice to "keep an eye on it" I took her to A & E where bloods were taken and she was out straight on a 3 week course of Antibiotics.

My aunt contracted Lyme's which affected her heart and ultimately killed her so I know only too well how serious it is.

I would absolutely do this in your situation OP.

Not to sound harsh but the fact it's fading is irrelevant. It's not a straightforward mozzy bite.

This is exactly the truth. My husband's symptoms didn't start til a year after the rash, and it was a bugger to treat.

The bulls eye rash means you have Lyme. Not, you might have Lyme. You have it.

Antibiotics asap.

Sorry.

Olios · 03/06/2023 11:43

Yeah classic bullseye rash you NEED antibiotics as precaution risk of lymes disease is too serious

BluePoolNoodle · 03/06/2023 11:44

If you have the funds, try a private GP service today. My DB had a tick bite and did it online and got them same day via video call.

It’s bullshit to wait until you have flu like symptoms, the bullseye is a symptom in itself of Lyme infection. You don’t get the bullseye just from a bite with no Lyme.

i would keep contacting 111 or whoever or try another walk-in until you get antibiotics.

The USA are much hotter on actively treating it

Brackenfield · 03/06/2023 11:44

Please get antibiotics ASAP!!!

BluePoolNoodle · 03/06/2023 11:45

What @Ihavekids said that the bullseye means you already have Lyme.

monsteramunch · 03/06/2023 11:41

Not one for ever exaggerating symptoms but this I agree with.

The outer red line has decreased bit the internal white circle still looks about the same. Either way, it's a bullseye rash, it needs treating. Mine was the same size and I was given antibiotics.

validnumber · 03/06/2023 11:47

Ring your local pharmacy. Explain the situation and say you want antibiotics. They may be able to point you to a pharmacist who can prescribe antibiotics for you. Some can.
This may be cheaper than a zoom call with a private gp and quicker than a and e.

I'm not either and I dislike the misuse of NHS resources for minor issues. I've never been to a&e in my life (touch wood) but Lyme needs to be treated asap. OP get your butt down to a&e. Once you've received the treatment speak to the practice manager for where you went this morning and file a complaint.

Allotmentlife · 03/06/2023 11:56

I’ve had Lyme disease, and that looks exactly like my rash. You definitely need to get the correct antibiotics ASAP. As others have said, the fact that it’s fading means nothing, you still have the bacteria inside you and need to get treated.

CeciNestPasUnPipi · 03/06/2023 12:30

Echoing all the other posters who say that the rash getting smaller is irrelevant: you need antibiotics now. I come from a part of the world where the repercussions of a tick bite are serious.

CeciNestPasUnPipi · 03/06/2023 12:32

Another way to get the ABs if you have no luck elsewhere is via TravelPharm, as doxycycline is a standard malaria/tick bite prophylactic.

Willmafrockfit · 03/06/2023 12:50

but the op has seen a doctor
no need to be so catastrophic about it all

diddl · 03/06/2023 12:53

I didn't think that a bullseye rash automatically meant Lyme?

However given that Op has a puppy...

Mumma2Ro · 03/06/2023 13:00

I’ve booked a private GP video consultation via Livi. £49!! It’s in 5 minutes so will let you know.
you’re all scaring me now

Leaving now. They wouldn’t give me antibiotics! I saw a nurse practitioner who wanted to send me home. I kicked up a fuss and insisted on speaking with a doctor. Doctor came and agreed with the nurse and said no just monitor it. Had a heated argument with the doctor……
and I’ve left empty handed. What a waste of my Saturday morning!! I’m so annoyed

I had a rash like this expanding - drew rinds round it - leg swollen and I had a temperature.

GP receptionist refused an appointment - told me to go to pharmacist - hobble there they said need to see GP immediately - so had to take a form to GP - more hobbling and then go back at end of day.

I'd already been taking antihistamines and icing and elevating - I got told off at start then GP finally looked at it hmm gave me another antihistamine and 5 days antibiotics.

It went down and was fine - but we'd seen ticks found one in the house and been in grass but they just didn't seem bothered.

Hope the private GP is more reassuring.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/06/2023 13:11

That goes against everything I have ever heard about Lyme's disease. If funds allow I'd make a private online GP appt or go to Urgent Care, I would not leave it under any circumstances.

Don’t be scared OP, it’s fine but you do NEED the antibiotics. Good luck with this one.

The absolute state of the NHS 😡
