WTF? I really think you need to get antibiotics - that looks like a classic bullseye rash which is an indicator for tick bite / lymes

Did you tell them you'd been sitting in a field with a dog?

AmandaHoldensLips · 03/06/2023 10:31

This is from the internet - you have exactly the same

And research shows time and time again that women are disbelieved, not listened to and given the brush-off by the NHS.

Wishitsnows · 03/06/2023 10:35

That is terrible service. It will cost the NHS a hell of a lot more to treat Lyme disease. No wonder people buy meds over the internet.

im going to call the Gp on Monday for another opinion

I would wait and see if the rash subsides or gets worse first, or if you start to feel ill.
As alarming as it looks, it'll probably go away by itself eventually.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 03/06/2023 10:50

What does it look like now?

Nice guidelines here cks.nice.org.uk/topics/lyme-disease/

State you should have antibiotics with the rash but no symptoms. I'd go and see your gp on Monday.

Willmafrockfit · 03/06/2023 11:08

did you never get a call back?
but you saw a doctor in the end

Willmafrockfit · 03/06/2023 11:09

is it growing?

WashAsDelicates · 03/06/2023 11:11

You're right. I was wrong. I had understood the guidelines to be saying that the rash was indicative of a tick bite rather than of infection with LD.

I'll ask for my post to be deleted, rather than spread misinformation.

Looks like a bullseye tick bite. That is a serious risk for Lyme disease. You need medical advice quickly, and probably antibiotics

⬆️ this ⬆️

PlanningTowns · 03/06/2023 11:19

I had a bulls eye following a tick bite on my leg. It was at a festival so I got it seen by festival medics and then went to the gp on my return home. I’m sure I was then given antibiotics. Keep the line on the rash and it will monitor how big it is. Also take pics at regular intervals.

Ihavekids · 03/06/2023 11:24

Just chiming in, we used to live in the US where Lyme is common.

Op you have Lyme disease. My husband had it. The bulls eye rash is a sure sign. The bite could have been days ago. You 100% need antibiotics now. The sooner the better. I'd go to a and e or get an online doctor. Don't stop til you get those anti b's, even if no other symptoms.

It's disgraceful you've been sent away with no prescription, time makes a difference, and I'd raise a complaint to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Best of luck.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/06/2023 11:27

They were completely wrong not to give you antibiotics. It is essential that you get them.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/06/2023 11:30

I would follow Ihavekids advice.

keyboardkat · 03/06/2023 11:32

You would think that anti Bs cost a fortune per script. The treatment of Lyme disease repercussions would be enormous by comparison. I can't actually believe you weren't given ABs. Even if they are not needed they will provide cover just in case. And I am aware of the over prescribing protocols for ABs, but in this case prevention surely is better than cure.

Hope you get sorted on Monday OP.

This is atrocious advice. The rash will subside but the infection will remain until OP has a course of antibiotics. I had Lyme disease for 10 years before being diagnosed, it's nothing to mess around with.

Nothingisblackandwhite · 03/06/2023 11:34

Tick bite go to a doctors asap as you are at risk of lymes . My dad almost died from it

It will go away eventually, but the infection will be in the system and can make you very unwell for a very long time. The time to act is now. I'm originally from outside the UK, from a place where there's greater awareness of ticks and tick-borne diseases and have also known people with Lyme disease. It's really not something you want.

Mumma2Ro · 03/06/2023 11:37

It’s better today. The pen mark is when I drew around it last night so it’s actually gotten smaller
