Wtf is going round atm??

I've had this mental cold for over a week now and it only seems to be getting worse. Bright green snot and lots of it gone through 3 boxes of tissues in a week, migraine- like headaches, glands are up and swollen, ears hurt, and a nasty cough bringing up lots of phlegm. Daughter threw up on the way to the childminders this morning. Wtf is it I've never felt so rough

Also lost sense of taste and smell, tested for covid and it isn't although tests have been in my drawer for years lol

We've got it. None of us have covid but for the first time since our first covid infections, we've lost taste and smell too.

I was utterly floored the first week and a half. I'm two weeks three days in now and much better but still got snot like glue coming out, and phlegm coughing up (mostly I think from what drips down the back of the throat, going on what my doctor said last time I had the same symptoms).

It's obviously some cold virus, but the anosmia with it has been freaky.

There’s a good amount of parainfluenza circulating currently. And a number of other viruses. Plus a fair dose of covid still doing the rounds.

Do you have conjunctivitis? I have had a really bad cold with pink eyes for 10 days now and an convinced it is the new covid variant. I have tested negative but I am not sure lateral flows are that great at picking it up.

OMG! I was super rough last week with a ‘random’ side-serving of conjunctivitis!

RSV causes conjunctivitis, might be that.

I and two of my friends who live elsewhere have had an awful cold that's led to blocked sinuses and ears. Bright green snot, been ill for two weeks now. It's miserable.

I have several of the symptoms you describe OP & tested positive for Covid just over a week ago. I would say today is probably the best I’ve felt but it still hurts to swallow & I have an incredibly sore mouth - dentist appointment Wed. Luckily taste & smell came back quickly. Had the headache from hell yesterday & all night - so glad that’s gone as I really didn’t know where to put myself. I have a terrible tickly cough too, worse at night. Nearly threw up a few times. I wish everyone better 💐💐💐

My daughter and I have got it! Sinuses like cement for two days, sneezing, she's been sick and I felt like I'd got the non-vomitty morning sickness for a couple of days. We're getting over it but it's not nice at all.

I have this too. Also did a Covid test, as the last time I felt that rough was when I had Covid. Started with swollen throat. Ears and throat sore, now onto chest, coughing badly and so snotty.

I’m on week two. Started with sore throat, very blocked nose. Now all I’ve got is a “dusty” throat and a tickly cough when I lay down

I've had this, 6 year old dc had it first and I caught it. Week 3 and the green goo has finally gone but still lots of clear stuff and feel like there is constantly something stuck in my throat. It's not at all pleasant - oh and bad headaches too.

I had a cold which started at Easter and it’s only this week that I’ve felt up to going for a run.
The snotty cold lingered for a couple of weeks and then came a tickly cough and the feeling that something was stuck in my throat. It was only last week that the cough stopped.
There was a sore throat which came and went, alternating sides each time, throughout all of this.

My recent cold was covid only when I lost my smell did I realise. Test confirmed.

Lots of patients testing ( we do viral swabs in hospital) positive for Rhino or entrovirus and parainfluenza recently which are probably what’s going round.

I had parainfluenza couple years back and was hideous for a good week to be honest. The cough worse than the cold.

I did a sinus rinse and it was ectoplasm that came out. Honestly vile and so sorry if anyone if feeling queasy. But the sinus rinse with a Neli bottle thing was honestly amazing. Cleared me out.

Started with this last Weds, tickly throat and running eyes, then aches, bad headache, itchy sore ears, very full head, hot eyes. Had two days in bed and feeling I'm getting better now but my head's still fuzzy and am really tired.
Haven't had COVID at all yet and tested negative this time. Just a nasty other virus I reckon.

I think I maybe coming down with this, had an awful head ache last night / this morning, which took ages to budge it’s cleared a bit now but body aches and keep going hot and cold, generally feeling bleugh!

I am on day 10 and feeling a bit better, I think the sun is helping. Still coughing up lots of mucus though and have a very blocked nose. The conjunctivitis however is almost better and I feel less fatigued. I hope everyone else is doing ok.

So glad I found this thread - I was thinking of going to the GP as i so rarely get chest or cough symptoms and it is now day 10 with the same symptoms coming and going. Started with a tight chest and a tickly cough, then developed into a sore throat, swollen glands aches and pains and stonking sinus headache. Felt better yesterday but now rough again today and my chest feels tight again. Also tested for Covid with a negative result. The cough is really odd. It goes away during the day and reappears at around 8pm each evening!

I’ve been taking Benadryl, ibuprofen and paracetamol - seems to help a bit. I have a neti pot and going to try that in case it helps.

I’ve had it twice. Both times it lasted over three weeks. Was worse than Covid. I tested negative though.

We've not had the cold type virus but the whole of my family has had a norovirus thing. It's not just the usual 24/48 hour sickness bug, it's been 4-5 days of severe vomiting and diarrhoea. I've not had it......yet.
