For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I have finished talking to people who may or may not have been there.

They were from Ireland, Hong Kong, Israel, Romania, Sweden, Canada, Spain and Australia. The Australian person was up at half past midnight.

I have been eating more sunflower seeds. What good things will they do to me exactly?

Boco · 28/02/2008 14:22

MrsC you are so so lovely.

FrannyandZooey · 28/02/2008 17:02

sunflower seeds are good for Omega whatsits I believe Idris

I am slightly disgruntled. Good to read everyone's news although sorry about rash / ladybirds / boilers / stressy work

TooTicky · 28/02/2008 17:12

Hello Franny, why are you disgruntled?

FrannyandZooey · 28/02/2008 17:25

I dunno
I am tired I think
ds is being awkward about new shoes and it is very wearing

filthymindedvixen · 28/02/2008 18:26

I have had a tearful, snippy, snappy, angry, ''everybody hates me and life is a cunting mango'' day. Then I realised I have been forgetting to take my B6 tablets and it is exactly one week before period is due....it is almost a relief to realise it's 'just' hormones....

hugs to blotchy people, fretful people, ladybird-infested people, hungover over-excited novelists people, and anybody else who would like one

FrannyandZooey · 28/02/2008 18:31

oh nasty FMF
Lully I am impressed you are even irresistable on S&*%$£e

feet are up
dinner is being made

I have mild shakes because I just ate a load of white bread

OP posts:
Boco · 28/02/2008 18:37

Oh dear FMF, hope you feel better.
Shakes from white bread Franny? I used to know an ex heroine addict who couldn't eat white bread because then she'd eat sugar which would lead to caffeine which lead to nicotine which lead to alcohol which lead to heroine. There may have been other stages, but there was a weird link.

I've cracked dd2s rash! It was organges - which is odd as she eats a lot and has never had a problem. She started eating one this evening and within minutes was covered in giant bumps and wailing again. Grabbed the orange and threw it dramatically into the garden. She had a slice of orange at toddler group, mystery solved - must be because of her upset tummy she's sensitized or something.

Boco · 28/02/2008 18:38

oranges, and not organges.

FrannyandZooey · 28/02/2008 18:40

oh oranges, oh I am glad you have worked it out, must have been a worry. I hope she can eat them again when she is a bit less under the weather

yes it is only because I am pretty hungry so I suppose my blood sugar was a bit loop the loop anyway. I haven't yet had cravings for heroin. I'll keep you posted though.

Oranges are classic skin triggers, they're so acidic, often the culprits for excema. I love them but try not to eat too many or I get a stomach ache. Brilliant that you noticed it so quickly, we spent weeks trying to work out some that DH had.

Franny - Would you convey to ds that his letter was very much appreciated and the reply is under construction. There is glueing involved. She has been doing stuff after school lots ths week so it is slow progress but it will be finished and duly arrive.

I have run for 25 mins this evening, not sure it was such a good idea as I feel a bit weird after the treatment but there we are. I was in a fouol mood and now I'm not. I am having tuna nicoise for dinner with tons of asparagus.

MrsCarrot · 28/02/2008 20:09

I crave sugar after white bread too.

FrannyandZooey · 28/02/2008 20:12

what the dickens was IN that envelope MrsC? about 75% of the contents were a complete mystery to me and veiled in secrecy

Hello

I'm feeling a bit frazzled but not grumpy, just tired. DH just rang to say his plane has been delayed and he won;t be home until gone midnight.

I have lots of important things to ask him like what film does he want to see tomorrow but can't do it all over the tinny echoeyness of mobile-in-departure-lounge.

Tomorrow we will mostly communicate via a series of scribbled notes until we flop down in our cinema seats at god-knows-what film and fall asleep

I have hired a very small bouncy castle for DS' birthday party and now I am wondering if I have sold out and joined the competing ranks for the best party or something. He is beside himslef though

Glad you found out so quickly about DD's rash, Boco.

I want to hear more about the book, 100x, I really do. But only when you're ready

Idris I have to have conference calls at work with people round Europe, and I am the only one in the room, and I quite enjoy it, usually I eat loads of chocolate apples and put my feet on the desk and stuff. And you can make faces at people if you don;t like what they are saying much.

Or perhaps I am rather immature and other people sit nicely cross-legged and nod seriously into the loudspeaker?

Boco · 28/02/2008 21:15

So, you know mother's day. Do your dhs buy things for the children to give you? Because that has never happened here, and only since reading mn have I realised this is done at all, and when I suggested it to dp he looked incredulous and said 'but..you're not MY mother!'

Is this reasonable? I don't know. Maybe it is, I'm not his mother after all.

FrayedKnot · 28/02/2008 21:26

I have had cards, Boco, and I think flowers once. Can't quite remember last year. DS also brings something home from nursery usually.

But DH also has previous experience of this kind of thing as well, with DSS & DSD

I can remember my dad mobilizing us as kids and helping us get stuff for my Mum - it was usually homemade cards and a breakfast tray taken up to her with burnt toast

Actually, that really surprises me looking back because in many ways my Dad was pretty hands off.

So no idea whether my Mum dropped hints or not!

Does he help them get you things ready for your birthday?

Sometimes I think they just don;t click at all with this stuff.

Boco · 28/02/2008 21:38

No, he's never got things from them for xmas or birthday, because he sees it as pretending I think. The girls will have made me a card i'm sure, i don't really mind, just curious about what everyone else does so I know whether or not to feel hard done by

MrsCarrot · 28/02/2008 21:47

dh always takes them to town and they buy me things but tbh, I'd be just as happy with something they made me at school.

Franny - there was a seahorse picture as well as the letter, it was very sweet.

TooTicky · 28/02/2008 21:54

Have just had slight dislocation drama. All well now, except that the sink is full of washing u and I haven't made acked lunches.

FrannyandZooey · 28/02/2008 21:55

Boco, but you are THE mother of the house
dp takes ds into town and points him at appropriate shops and pays for something he chooses
they make a card, or nursery usually do one as well

MrsCarrot oh he said "there is something for her to colour" - it was a seahorse picture?

We aear to be missing the letter between o and q.

TooTicky · 28/02/2008 21:56

Dd2's elbow, but it seemed to reset itself after about 45 minutes of screaming.
