Turn around stir fries, every now and then I feel a part (of a mango)

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Lully you want to be throwing some of those cunting-blueberries at dh!

lullabyloo · 27/02/2008 22:00

last year I had to take ds to the potteryu cafe to paint me something as dh didnt have time ( or inclination)

mutter grumble

FrayedKnot · 27/02/2008 22:30

Does he forget that he is a father, LL

Actually I'm not sure DH knows it is Motehrs day. he is is Spain so no obvious reminders I doubt.

FrayedKnot · 27/02/2008 22:30

He is in Spain

sorry, addled brain, must retire now

UnderRated · 27/02/2008 22:56

Well, I am relieved to know that I am not the only one with dodgy blueberries. I also have a very disappointing pear.

TooTicky · 27/02/2008 23:06

I read pear as rear

pinkspottywellies · 27/02/2008 23:10

The earthquake was about 20 miles from us (the "epicentre" but I felt daft saying it like I knew all about these things!) and me and dh woke up. I just said 'oh it's an earthquake' and snuggled back under the duvet DH was up looking out of the windows and saying 'get dd' and I was just thinking oh god if I'm awake now and I'm really tired I'll be wrecked if dd wakes up later and I have to wake up again! DH thought it might have been some kind of bomb/strike cause we're quite near an airbase.

Haven't read back properly but seems you have a friend in need Lully - hope she's ok and that you can be there for her. Franny sounds like a good idea to put ds's birth behind you. Hope you can go through your notes and make sense of it all.

DH realised it's mothers day last weekend (lightbulb moment in supermarket local greengrocers) but his mum asked if we wanted to come for lunch at the weekend and as we already have plans fopr Sat he said Sunday's fine. I guess we don't have any plans then He's more of a present man though. His ideal fathers day would be for us top give him a computer game then sod off for the day.

pinkspottywellies · 27/02/2008 23:12

TooTicky, must you lower the tone?

I have lost quite a bit of weight and I've now crossed the 'stone' barrier so I'm 10 something rather than 11 something. Yay!

UnderRated · 27/02/2008 23:23

Well done on your weight loss, PSW. Am very impressed and rather I bet you don't have a disappointing rear, like I do.

pinkspottywellies · 27/02/2008 23:33

I shan't comment on my rear here! But I do have a lovely pear

FrannyandZooey · 28/02/2008 08:47

I can't see my rear any longer but I have a double chin.

Melon, banana, raisins, grapes

I am wearing "yoga pants". Did you see my wanky quote mark hands there?

FrannyandZooey · 28/02/2008 08:49

Oh, and ds woke up last night just as we were going up to bed. So I made him get up and have a wee. And then he slept through till 7 am and didn't need to get up again. Hmm. Hmmmmmmm.

TigerFeet · 28/02/2008 09:32

Where do you live PSW? We are in Lincolnshire, about 25 miles south of the "epicentre". (more wanky quote mark hands )

DH said this morning "Oh I must remember to get my Mum a mothers' day card!" It isn't beyond the realms of possibility that he has forgotten I am a mother, so I feel your pain LL.

Vegging is not going well. Work is busy and stressful and I am not seeing enough of dd and I am very sad about it. And eating cake accordingly. If there is a boot camp I want to be the teacher's pet please.

lullabyloo · 28/02/2008 09:36

Our boiler has broken down
We have no hot water
I cannot have my shower
I have been up all night on phone to friend
We have an infestation of ladybirds

TigerFeet · 28/02/2008 09:49

Poor you Lully I hate not being able to shower, it makes me feel icky for the rest of the day.

You are being a wonderful friend and when your friend is feeling better I'm sure she won't know how to thank you enough.

Ladybirds are lovely Are they in your house though?

pinkspottywellies · 28/02/2008 09:56

That's where we are too Tigerfeet. A village to the south of Lincoln. We must be quite close!

Lully, how pants. Do you have crying chocolate ? If you can't have a shower you should stay in your pyjamas all day or wash and put on some "yoga pants". It won't make you feel any cleaner but you can laugh at the fact you're wearing clothes with wanky quote mark hands!

MrsCarrot · 28/02/2008 09:58

urgh, ladybirds are not lovely when you are infested with them, so sympathies Lully. They come out of my window frames when it warms up and flap around landing on you with as you go to sleep or lie crispy shelled under the duvet as you get into bed. These are not native ones either, they have killed all the local ones, apparently.

TigerFeet · 28/02/2008 10:08

to flappy, crispy non-native ladybirds. Are the normal garden ones native? Or is it like a grey/red squirrel total obliteration

We are in chav central a market town near The Wash. We've been looking for houses out in the sticks and when we find a nice one we can afford on dh's salary I will give up work and grow veg and keep chickens - live the rural idyll and stop working myself into the ground. Bring it on

lullabyloo · 28/02/2008 10:20

Mrs C........yes,yes they are crawling in through our bedroom window in their dozens....some in my glass of water this morning
Are they nutritious I wonder? I probably drank a few in the night.
Do I have to ring the pest people (maybe they would take dh at the same time....)
Or do I hoover them?

lullabyloo · 28/02/2008 10:24

psw....no ..no chocolate of any description actually

friend is worrying me terribly ,actually the children are worrying me most as they both have special needs & are being left alone in the house often it seems
How much does one intervene?

lullabyloo · 28/02/2008 10:24

I seem to be very this morning

lullabyloo · 28/02/2008 10:27

dont fancy answering the door to burly boiler men in my pjs...but aghhhhh...i neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to wash my hair

do you think a spot of lipgloss would do the trick?

Boco · 28/02/2008 11:27

Good morning veggers.

I've just run home from a toddler group with dd2 swelling on her hands and feet - urticaria like I get on my tummy, but on her hands and bottom of her feet. She was wailing as it's itchy, but ok now. Seems to be engrossed in cbeebies.

So, I thought, should I consult a)GP, b)NHS direct, c) The Wizard, and settled on d)mumsnet vegetable department.

Anyone heard of this?
She's not eaten anything different, toast for breakfast, a biscuit some banana and half an orange.

Boco · 28/02/2008 11:28

Oh but the vegetable department is empty isn't it. What now?

SauerKraut · 28/02/2008 11:30

Except for a shy usually-lurking member! Do you have a soothing cream to put on it? Do you think it could be an allergy and a dose of anti-histamine could help?
