Turn around stir fries, every now and then I feel a part (of a mango)

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Totally agree, to the point wher I test each blueberry between two fingers before it goes in my bowl, any hint of soft pap and it goes in the dcs, mouldy ones go in the bin of course.

Goddamn those mangoes, Franny. I have come to the conclusion that I am the only person who buys the mangoes in Somerfields. The basket of them stays exactly the same and none of them are ripe. Three days I think, and that will be perfect for at least two of them. I have put the one with the rosy oblong in the left pointing towards the one with the green fan and we will see. I bet you ten mangoes oblong will still face the fan in three days. Oh yes.

This is basically an unsatisfactory fruit support thread.

No wonder people call us fruit loops.

Stay strong people. xx

MrsCarrot · 27/02/2008 20:18

That reminds me of fruity polos, can you still get them?

I am eating a ginormous florentine that I bought in Fortnums passing the time till two on Sunday. It is deelicious.

FrannyandZooey · 27/02/2008 20:30

All the blueberries I have had lately have tasted a bit queer. Not exactly cunting but very slightly minging. It is a hard life.

I don't know about fruity polos but I know you can get fox's glacier fruits because I am eating some a friend told me

my doula has just been and she says I should get my notes from ds's birth so I can work through the whole thing

I am scared of it

I did that after dd2s birth Franny and it was temporarily horrid but then much much better. A midwife read them all out with me and went through each stage and what happened and why it might have happened. And it worked because then I didn't think about it anymore and it stopped making me sad. Doing it was hard though and I had that shamanic shake too.

FrannyandZooey · 27/02/2008 20:46

ooh [fear]

on a more prosaic note, how much did you have to pay for them?

OP posts:
Boco · 27/02/2008 20:50

Me? For the notes?
No nothing, was a free service. One day when dd2 was about 6 months old I was talking to the HV and said that I still thought about the birth quite a lot and wanted to know why all these things happened and there was lots that I couldn't remember at all and the not knowing was still bothering me. I'd have that thing where i'd be out and about and get a sudden memory of it and freeze. So, she called the hospital midwife and arranged for me to go and read through the notes.

Hope you meant me then or i'm just waffling.

FrannyandZooey · 27/02/2008 20:58

oh

the doula said I would have to write off for them and there would be a charge
I guess this is two slightly different things

I'll ask my midwife as well then

lullabyloo · 27/02/2008 21:03

I asked for my notes when ds was born because I wanted confirmation that the things I thought had happened actually had.
I photocopied all of it

FrannyandZooey · 27/02/2008 21:06

I asked to see them the very next day after ds was born

I was told I couldn't

Evening all, just nipping on as I haven't had a chance since before the weekend and I wanted to say hello. I have been busy baking today - apple cake with dates, cinnamon and almonds (dp's b-day)

MrsC and Franny it was so nice to meet up MrsC I didn't realise you didn't get a green sandwich. Franny did you get clothes?

Lully, very sorry to hear about your friend, I am sorry I have no constructive advice

Avi yes email me!

Franny I have my maternity notes, I really wanted to read what happened from the MW's perspective. I think I paid about £10 maybe... but you can go and look at them in he hospital for free.

Oh, and WE FELT THE EARTHQUAKE! We were so scared. I thought someone was trying to break in and dp clearly thought it was a poltergeist but didn't want to say

MrsCarrot · 27/02/2008 21:12

why not?

My midwife came with my notes after my section with DD. I was having a home birth and ended up in hospital so I was very confused and upset about the whole thing. She went through the notes line by line explaining and it was very helpful.

I imagine you have to pay now as someone has to look for them for you and it's not as urgent planning your next birth as dealing with a recent one maybe? I can't believe we have to pay for our own notes though.

FrannyandZooey · 27/02/2008 21:14

oh god the guilt about all the ruddy green sandwiches I ate
next time we go out MrsC I will colour one in for you with a felt tip

Tatties yes indeed, though I must start a thread on stupid maternity clothes at some point
I got about 5 tops, some yoga pants (I want to make stupid quote marks in the air when I say yoga pants), 2 dresses (the wearing over trousers sort) and some big men's pjs

gosh that is loads isn't it

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 27/02/2008 21:15

lol, tatties, I thought it was something untoward as well, something unsaintly shaking my sheets.

I didn't get a green sandwich, no, but I really don't mind. It doesn't sound that appetising anyway! Mmmm, I could eat the whole thing again.

FrannyandZooey · 27/02/2008 21:16

well they had them in their hand when I went in the other day thinking my waters were leaking

the midwife had them, a great fat wodge they were

I should have grabbed them and run for it. I would have, if I wasn't in a hospital gown with my arse hanging out

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 27/02/2008 21:16

yes let's go again TOMORROW

OP posts:
Tatties · 27/02/2008 21:16

I think it's an admin charge - for photocopying and sending the notes. I got mine quite soon after ds's birth

FrannyandZooey · 27/02/2008 21:17

so how come every other bugger was allowed to see their notes and not me? [suspicious] [paranoid]

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 27/02/2008 21:17

am going for a hot sulky bath

OP posts:
Tatties · 27/02/2008 21:19

I am going to have cake with dp

MrsCarrot · 27/02/2008 21:21

Here, take this with you

FrayedKnot · 27/02/2008 21:39

It never occurred to me to see my notes.

I would love to see if they wrote

"FK talked complete gibberish for 3 hours instead of pushing like we told her to"

Cos I think I overdid the G&A

I don;t know if this is the key to the cunting mango situation but I bought mine from Waitrose. And I tell you they are luuuusssssshhhhhh. They are also called "Kent" mangoes and I did snigger to myslef in the shop and wonder if anyone actually thoght they were from Kent (since that is where I am).

lullabyloo · 27/02/2008 21:57
