  • Nausea for on and off a month, worse in the past 2 weeks where its been every day. No rhythm or reason to it. Seems random. Found lying down eases it. Definitely worse at night before bed.
  • Lightheadness over the past week occasionally.
  • Stomach discomfort for 2 weeks, like when you've eaten too much. Burping doesn't ease it, neither does gaviscon taken when required.
  • Tiredness
  • Pooping more frequently but still solid. Think twice a day instead of once.
  • Random metallic taste in mouth.
  • Late period by approx 5 days. Negative PG test.

Seen GP last week who told me to take Gaviscon 4 times a day for a week and report back to have a stool sample done for H. Pylori? Gaviscon 4 times a day did ease the nausea mostly but it still flared up at night.

Sample to be handed in on Friday so it'll be Monday or Tuesday before I hear back. Another weekend of this nearly has me in tears.

Tell me about your eating and drinking habits.

OnNaturesCourse · 12/01/2023 00:20

Plain diet really.
I'm a super fussy eater so it's usually cereal or toast for breakfast, fruit, crisps and sandwiches fir lunch then home cooked meal for dinner like chicken, rice and veg or steak pie and veggies.
No alcohol.
About 1.5l of water a day
Used to have tea and dilation juice too but that is making my nausea worse right now.

Is the nausea worse after meals?

KnickerlessParsons · 12/01/2023 00:32

Do another pregnancy test.

Pinkbonbon · 12/01/2023 00:42

Acid reflux.

Mumma · 12/01/2023 00:46

Sounds like acid. Gaviscon may not be strong enough if its a bad flare up

neveradullmoment99 · 12/01/2023 00:51

KnickerlessParsons · 12/01/2023 00:32

Do another pregnancy test.

This!

ttcnumber2x · 12/01/2023 01:51

Omg OP I am going through exactly the same

12th December came down with that awful viral infection that was going around, was physically sick and felt so nauseous

30th December second round of sickness started but not physically sick just constant nausea and diarrhoea

11th January third lot

Awful metallic taste in my mouth

Negative pregnancy test

I'm going to the doctors tomorrow too but doubt there's anything they will do 😭

GoT1904 · 12/01/2023 02:54

I was actually going to suggest possible H.Plori (sp?) I had it and felt similar, bar the late period.

Phrenologistsfinger · 12/01/2023 02:57

I’ve had same over 2 weeks - today dizziness has added ear infection, stomach slightly improved. 2 houseguests had covid and I got sick soon after but never tested positive on lft (no respiratory symptoms exvept croakiness). Period late by 1 day and tested negative. Suspecting s

posted too soon (oversmitious new phone)…

suspected random viral thing tbh but no idea what. I have had loose bowels though, so not entirely identical.

YearoftheRabbit23 · 12/01/2023 03:09

@Phrenologistsfinger no respiratory symptoms doesn't rule out covid, nor does negative LFTs. I saw statistic that LFTs are only 37% effective now given all the new variants. My only symptom was slight scratchy throat. Some variants cause diarrhea. Also seen other thread on here that having covid affected peoples periods (later or earlier).

OnNaturesCourse · 12/01/2023 08:17

@YearoftheRabbit23 yes I had covid before and it delayed my period by week, same when I got my jabs for it. Very strange.

I can't say if it's worse after eating, I suspect it is but it seems to be flaring up anywhere from right after to 30 mins after. The flare up after dinner is worse than the flare up after lunch, and sometimes the flare up after breakfast is worse than lunch.. Eating more or less doesn't seem to make a difference.

My only relief is a hot water bottle on my stomach and lying down. Nothing is really touching it otherwise. Usually after a night of sleeping like this I get a tonne of gas passing but the discomfort soon flares up.

I doubt pregnancy. Test yesterday was negative. I have started my spotting which is usual before my period. Possible late ovulation with Xmas stress and feeling poorly.

@Phrenologistsfinger @ttcnumber2x

I really feel for you both. Its starting to really get me down. So frustrating that nothing we do is helping. I'm wondering if there is some sort of viral bug going. I kinda hope the h pylori test comes ba k positive next week so I can start treatment cos if not I'm no further forward! Have either you found anything that comforts the pain?

rsfgp · 12/01/2023 08:24

Did the Dr suggest omeprazole? I found that to be much better than gaviscon. Sounds like whatever is going on you've got bad acid reflux.

ttcnumber2x · 12/01/2023 08:28

@OnNaturesCourse

Me too, I'm so fed up of wasting time sitting around in bed. Missed out on so much over Christmas was quite depressing.

The only thing that makes me feel better temporarily is having a bath or sleeping. What about you?

It's awful.

Did you have that flu that was going round?

I'm not sure if mine is just continuing on from that and just flares up every time I get run down.

Just waiting to call the doctors, hope they have some helpful advice.

OnNaturesCourse · 12/01/2023 09:43

I can't take it until I've done this sample as it can mess with the results apparently. I had taken a few days of it before going to the GP which is why I have to wait throughout this week before handing the sample in.

OP posts:
OnNaturesCourse · 12/01/2023 09:45

@ttcnumber2x no I didn't, but my DC both had a horrific cold that lasted weeks and had vomiting with the cough and phlegm. Horrible! I got a slight cold and sore sinuses after but nothing like they had. Hope you get some answers from GP! (do share them lol)

ttcnumber2x · 12/01/2023 10:09

@OnNaturesCourse spoken to the gp. I've also got to do a sample, going to try and get it back to them today before 12:30 so can be collected for testing asap.

She said perhaps I've just been really unlucky and had multiple viral infections but it really does feel like the same thing I've had repeatedly so I'm not sure. She also could be where I've been getting better and then got a bit run down it's come back which is what it seems like to me.

No suggestion of gaviscon for me. Do you have the burning sensation of acid reflux?

OnNaturesCourse · 12/01/2023 11:51

@ttcnumber2x i did have a few episodes of the burning in chest and throat but it's mainly my stomach. Right in the centre, in line with ribs.

OP posts:
Eightiesgirl · 12/01/2023 12:05

I am currently going through exactly the same thing. I had Hpylori in 2021 and it was successfully treated with antibiotics. However, a couple of days before Christmas I started with the same symptoms. I've had a pretty miserable Christmas and went to the docs on Monday. She suspects it could be a hiatus hernia? I've been given Lansoprazole but couldn't start it till I did the hpylori same, as you say, it can affect the results. I'm still waiting for the results but I am feeling a bit better on the Lansoprazole, not as much acidic burning, although I am getting an occasional pain under left rib. Hope you get sorted soon.

Eightiesgirl · 12/01/2023 12:07

Meant to say my discomfort was mainly in the centre of my ribs too, it now seems to have moved to under the left rib.

OnNaturesCourse · 12/01/2023 12:43

@Eightiesgirl hernia, did your GP say what could have caused that

OP posts:
justasking111 · 12/01/2023 12:48

Standard hiatus hernia. You need a gastroscopy to confirm. Until omeprazole

Eightiesgirl · 12/01/2023 13:18

No GP didn't say what caused it but said a lot of people have them and they can flare up occasionally. She was convinced the lansoprazole would sort it out and told me to lay of citrus, spicy food, coffee, alcohol, chocolate etc. She tested me again for hpylori as I'd had it in 2021 but she's convinced it's a hernia.
