I keep needing to wee

nutcracker · 31/01/2008 19:23

Not like me at all, can normally go ages without needing one but today I have been loads of times and constantly feel like I need a wee.

Do I need to go the docs or can I just drink shed loads of water and flush it out so to speak ??

It doesn't hurt to wee at all.

sounds a bit like cystitis, although it normally stings. Drink lots of water.

rosybud · 31/01/2008 19:26

At this stage you could probably drink loads of water and flush it out.

I have had a UTI once and started to wee blood, that's not good!

If it isn't better tomorrow go to the doc, it is easily cleared with antibiotics.

Hope you feel better.

nutcracker · 31/01/2008 19:26

Thanks, will definatly try the water. Really don't want to have to go to the docs just for that.

This was the first sign I was pg with my 3rd.

nickytwotimes · 31/01/2008 19:29

Honestly, drink tons of water so you are sick of it, but if it doesn't go very soon, go to the doc.. It's easy to clear up early on but unpleasant later! Cranberry juice is also useful, but you need to be drinking a good litre a day!

nutcracker · 31/01/2008 19:31

LOL twelveyeargap, it is definatly not due to that.

I had this recently and was going to see the nurse anyway for my coil check. I mentioned it to her and she told me I had thrush, and in her words, rather a lot of it! No itching or anything but needing to wee all the time.

nutcracker · 31/01/2008 19:37

Oh no weeble, hope it's not that.

Will give the water a try and see how i go.

weebleswobble · 31/01/2008 19:42

It's easy enough to treat - and at least it doesn't burn like a uti. If I were you I'd pop along to your gp or practice nurse and see what's what

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 01/02/2008 13:02

nutcracker, I had a similar problem that started about 8 years ago and it lasted for about 4 years . I didn't have cystitis, but had a constant urge to wee. I found that my diet directly affected this problem, with me it was things like too much coffee, orange juice and processed fatty foods, oh a biggy was chinese food because of the MSG, this REALLY made it flare up. Also I found that doing pelvic floor exercises really helped. I ended up having two laparoscopies and two cystoscopies but the results didn't show anything up. Just an irritable bladder in my case. I also have IBS.

HTH

HereComeTheGirls · 01/02/2008 16:13

Have you drunk a lot of coffee? If I drink too much coffee I can't stay off the loo!

tigana · 01/02/2008 16:17

Sounds very very much like cystitis. Is it a constant urge to wee, but little to no actual wee? Drink loads of water and cranberry juice.
Can get painful. and fnucking annoying to be constanting feeling like you are about to wet yourself.
Get rid of it if you can, I too have had it track back up urethra and ended up peeing blood (just a little bit). Nasty.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 01/02/2008 16:54

I'd second drinking lots of cranberry juice. Best thing for the urinary tract.

nutcracker · 01/02/2008 20:16

Well this morning I felt fine again so didn't make an appointment, just kept drinking the water just incase.

However in the past hour or so it seems to have come back

Will keep up the water intake over weekend but i think I will have to go the docs on monday.

Oh, can I see the practice nurse for this ? Or will it have to be the gp ?

OP posts:
rosybud · 01/02/2008 20:18

You need to see a doctor and get some antibiotics.

Personally I wouldn't wait until Monday, if it is a UTI you need to get it treated asap.

They can get worse and become kidney infections which are very painful and make you very poorly.

Take care.

pinkteddy · 01/02/2008 20:20

Check with receptionist but practice nurse may not be able to prescribe, in which case it will have to be GP. Hope you feel better soon. Keep drinking as much as you can and you can buy sachets over the counter which help - Cymalon (sp?) springs to mind. They all have similar names. HTH

nutcracker · 01/02/2008 20:22

Thanks

There is no way I can get to gp over weekend so I will just have to hope it doesn't get worse before monday.

It doesn't hurt at all when I wee, and oddly the feeling that I need to go all the time only seems to get bad of an evening.

mynaughtylittlesister · 01/02/2008 20:25

At my surgery, if you think you have an infection, all you have to do is drop a sample down to the surgery. The Nurses check it and if it looks like you have an infection they ring you and prescribe antibiotics.

pinkteddy · 01/02/2008 20:26

I think you can probably get the Cymalon stuff from supermarket, definitely from any chemist anyway.

nutcracker · 01/02/2008 20:28

Thanks

I can get my mum to get me a sample bottle from work, so will see if I can drop that in on Monday morning. Will also try and get something from chemists.

If it's just imflammatory cystitis you CAN flush it out with cranberry-based drinks or over the ocunter remedies like Cystopurin but if it's bacterial, you need antibiotics to clear it up.

Bacterial will usually cause worse symptoms quite quickly, like burning/stinging and a little blood in the wee. Needs dealing with because it can go to your kidneys where it can be more serious.

Othersideofthechannel · 01/02/2008 20:33

Yes, you don't need a prescription to get Cymalon.
In the meantime, if you have bicarb of soda in the house you can dissolve some in water and drink it.

PooperScoop · 01/02/2008 20:33

Oh lordy, counter not "ocunter"! Prediuan slip or what!

Also, hotwater bottle between the legs if pain starts.

Am a cystitis verteran.

nutcracker · 01/02/2008 20:41

LOL PooperScoop

Have just rung my mum, she is going to get me a sample bottle from work and also pop into boots for me for an over the counter remedy.
