ZOE NUTRITION NEW THREAD- anyone want to join in?

LisaLovedUp · 20/11/2022 08:37

I've started a new thread as my previous one was titled for techie stuff.
If anyone is fairly new to this please join in and we can share!

I am now on Day 4. All tests done and now recording my food each day. It takes me ages as my phone is slow (needs replacing) and some things I eat aren't listed (it relies a lot on packaged foods.)

eg yesterday I made a veggie curry and the only options were branded readymade ones so I just had to pick one I felt was close enough, rather than itemise every veggie in the one I made.

I noticed this as some 'negative' feedback on another platform.

Has everyone/anyone done the advanced health questionnaire? I started it but gave up. I felt it was more for their data gathering (which is fine to an extent) but also very intrusive and I didn't want to give my personal medical history when it may not be 100% safe from hackers.

I'm going to feedback on this to them.

My blood sugar readings so far are in the 4 - 5.4 range mainly although on a couple of mornings it was below 4. The highest was 7.3 after a sweet dessert ( a one-off for me - out with friends) plus ice cream.

Any tips from more experienced users welcome!

I've received my testing kit today and wondering when to start. I can see day 1 is busy, but why does it say to keep the first four days free because there is lots to do?

You'll be doing some challenges - eating foods and checking out the effects on the glucose monitor. Exercise has an impact on the blood sugar responses so the advice is to try and limit any activity so that the effects of the food can be properly measured.

Neolara · 21/01/2023 07:20

Oh my! Stuck the blood sugar monitor on yesterday evening and can see how this has the potential to be fun in an obsessively -checking kind of way.

A quick question. I know the bsm has to calibrate overnight, but did everyone have big peaks and troughs (looks like between about 7.5 and 3)? When I woke up it was 7.3. Then 20 mins later it was down to 5.4 and I'd just been lying in bed.

TheOnlyKoiInAPondOfGoldfish · 21/01/2023 18:09

I wouldn't worry too much about the readings until you get settled down with it - what looks scary can be normal for you.

I was convinced I would get a poor blood sugar score after seeing my peaks and troughs - but I'm actually very good for my age - better than average 🤷‍♀️

Hi 👋

Found my way here from another thread on Zoe.

Bit of a longshot but if anyone has a spare referral code going I'd be very grateful.

Thanks.

Neolara · 23/01/2023 14:51

On day 3 and completely obsessed by my blood sugar monitor. So interesting. Very tragically, I've had a stratospheric response to baked beans on toast, a meal I usually have about 3 times a week. The jump was significantly higher than when I ate the breakfast muffins. How will I cope without baked beans in my life!?!

towardsexperience · 23/01/2023 16:32

@Guiltycat There are a few in the pages ahead. I have my kit arriving in April even with a referral code. I haven't had much luck getting any earlier unfortunately.

Hello, I’ve just found this thread but have been on Zoe since November. Going back now to read through.

I have a referral code but not putting it on here as it includes my real name - happy to be PM’d for it though. I don’t know whether it gives access any earlier or not

HOW LONG DID YOUR MONTH'S COACHING LAST?

I'm just resurrecting this now.

I wondered if there is anyone here who's finished their month's coaching?

I'm worried that they have rolled me onto the 2nd month and added it to my CC even though I only paid for one month.

I'm a bit confused because my results came in around the 11 Dec and I was under the impression that my coaching would be for a month afterwards- bringing me up to the 11 Jan, more or less.

But the app is still available on my phone.

Why?

According to it I'm 60% of the way through to being a 'Master'.

I'm no longer tracking my day's food as it just takes too long.
I know from the lists of foods what I need to eat and was getting over 70 most days unless I ate something that I knew would reduce the score.

Any ideas?

@Wazzzzzuuuuuuup Just wondering if you are around to answer as I think we were around the same point on the app?

That is a bit odd. BUT it might be because it's still calibrating.

In the morning after fasting, it ought to be low- ideally under 5.6

Anything higher would suggest diabetes.

Mine was a steady 4.5 in the mornings, sometimes 3.9

That was eating nothing after about 7.30pm till around 8 am next day.
Do you eat very late at night?

I paid for 4 months @LisaLovedUp so in a different place. I've seen on the FB group that people have had success in querying / cancelling via the chat facility.

What did you choose as your start date? I would expect your app data to be unavailable once you've stopped paying

Thanks so much.

I think I chose my start date as about a week after the kit arrived. So that was before Christmas but I will check.

I think subscriptions are set to auto-renew. As soon as I subscribed I emailed them at [email protected] to ask them to cancel the auto-renewal which they did without issue.

I was a member for 4 months, it expired in early December at which point you can't get into the App it just has a holding message asking you if you want to renew your subscription. After a month without access, I renewed for 12 months - I completely understand that this isn't entirely necessary and most people will have learned enough (myself included) but I feel it's worth the investment for 12 months of good health with the ability to track when I feel I need to, score new foods and hit a run of +75 days if I particularly feel the need to cutback.

I'm also a runner, so it helps to get guidance from the coaches on fuel for long runs.

I still say ongoing access should be cheaper, and I guess that it will be once the waiting list has been reduced.

LisaLovedUp · 24/01/2023 12:01

Thanks everyone.

I am really pissed off with myself as I didn't appreciate it was auto-renew.
I have now gone back to their site and my results email and see this is the case.

I'm annoyed that I have now shelled out £60 needlessly.

Very annoyed. I stopped using the app ages ago.

I've emailed to say cancel from now on but I'm pretty sure they won't refund for this month.

My one month sub expired 12 Jan.

Bugger.

I am on day 3 so I posted my tests back yesterday. I have a bad cold though and it's crewed up my appetite so I haven't had anything of much I shouldn't. I need to prep for the blood sugar challenges. Any tips welcome

Moongerbil · 26/01/2023 20:12

Hello, I’m new here. Would love some advice… Should I go for the 4 month plan or the 12 month plan?
if I go for the 12 month plan, does it mean I have to log all my meals for a year?… Because that just wouldn’t happen. I already eat a healthy diet, but after some post menopausal weight gain I am interested to understand if certain foods are contributing to this. Maybe 4mths is fine? Thank you 😊

MrJellyBelly · 27/01/2023 08:45

Hello @Moongerbil

I've experienced both. I signed up for 4 months, let it expire, and then signed up for another 12 months. However, to answer your question I'd say that 4 months is enough - you can complete all the 'lessons' in that period, you get a great understanding of how your biology works and what foods suit you. You'll also form the ongoing habits that will stay with you for life.

The reason I signed up for longer is purely because its completely changed the way I eat. I love the security of being able to check new foods and scan what I'm eating if I feel like I want to accumulate a block of +75 days. Plus as the program develops I'm sure they'll be new features and I want to be a part of that.

To answer your other question on logging food - no it's purely optional, once you are through the testing phase log if you want. Don't log if you don't want, Some of the lessons will suggest that you eat and log certain things but you'll have completed those inside 4mths.

Good luck.

SierraSapphire · 29/01/2023 19:36

My kit has arrived and I’m planning on starting on Wednesday. I’m a bit scared of the muffins as I don’t normally eat sugar. I did ask them whether I did have to eat all of them, and they said no just log what I had eaten, but the results will be more accurate if I ate them all.

I’m not sure I find many of the challenges, particularly useful, I think I’m just going to focus more on analysing the meals that I normally eat in with a few experiments in varying the ingredients or timing. Has anyone else taken this approach? I do wonder whether I’m going to have to drink black coffee and tea for the entire two weeks as well to be able to isolate the effect of particular meals. That might be hard!

UtahGirl12 · 30/01/2023 15:25

Hi! Could anyone share a referral code pleas for instant entry? I've read there are discount codes you can get from the end of the podcasts. Can these be sued in conjunction with the instant entry referrals?

UtahGirl12 · 30/01/2023 15:26

Agghhh! Oh for an edit button or the patience to read back before sending! Should be used and not sued! I don't want to sue anyone!

towardsexperience · 30/01/2023 18:52

@UtahGirl12 Im not sure if there is instant entry anymore but they allow you to purchase right away. I used a referral code and got april as my start. Feel free to try my code though. joinzoe.mention-me.com/m/ol/gj8pg-7d9e4c9d9c

UtahGirl12 · 30/01/2023 20:19

Thank you @towardsexperience . I still need to research a bit more before I take the plunge. Hopefully will sign up tomorrow!

Moongerbil · 30/01/2023 23:05

@UtahGirl12 I just took the plunge tonight. I got 10% off going through the Zoe podcast link. Doesn’t start till June though.

towardsexperience · 31/01/2023 06:04

@UtahGirl12 hey no worries! sounds like there is a lot of interest lately. They seem to be doing quite a few promos lately. My referral code now says that I and my referee get a free month when they use the code. Though 10% is probably similar savings! Welcome to the club!

MrJellyBelly · 31/01/2023 07:11

Hi @SierraSapphire , I'd definitely recommend following the program as closely as you can. With the muffins; they are a very specific recipe so the Zoe team can tell precisely how your body reacts to those set of ingredients and also at what time (for example does your blood fat level rise by a set amount, how long does it stay elevated for etc) - those insights are the fundamentals of how they personalise the plan for you.

Good luck
