I've come home loaded down with anti-emetics in case it makes me ill.

And have a nurse coming round on Monday to show me how to inject myself with stuff to make my blood count higher all next week.

I'm just sitting here waiting to feel sick

Hope you manage to avoid the sickness, and that there's something nice you can do/treat yourself to as reward for going through this treatment.

Sparkler · 29/01/2008 20:58

Hey well done Anorak. Hope you feel ok. x

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/01/2008 20:58

So when is the sickness supposed to kick in? Or is it only a possibility and not a certainty? Fingers crossed you will feel fine. Is sickness the only side effect you should be expecting? When is the next treatment?

Sorry, lots of questions!

How's the weather over there?

notnowbernard · 29/01/2008 20:59

Hope you're being looked after

hewlettsdaughter · 29/01/2008 20:59

Hi anorak - I haven't posted on any of your threads since your diagnosis, but just wanted to say I hope the chemo treatment was ok and you don't get sick (what did you have? is it likely to make you feel poorly?)

Dottydot · 29/01/2008 20:59

Oh Anorak - thinking of you and sending non-sickness vibes your way!

Lubyloo · 29/01/2008 21:02

Hope you don't feel too sick and manage with the injections.Take care of yourself.

anorak · 29/01/2008 21:02

Yes a possibility not a certainty. Tonight or tomorrow. And they think my hair will fall out in a couple of weeks. And I will be very tired.

Lots of other side effects possible but not a certainty - mouth sores, sensitive skin, constipation...blah blah blah.

Weather not too bad today, showers and sunshine, temp in the late 50s.

Anti-vom vibes from here too
Wishing you all the best dear Anorak XXX

Dottydot · 29/01/2008 21:03

Hope you can get lots of rest and TLC over the next few weeks.

NewYearNewStart · 29/01/2008 21:03

I really hope it doesn't make you sick and you feel 'ok' on the chemo.

I'm still so sorry that you're having to go through this, it seems so unfair. xxx

WendyWeber · 29/01/2008 21:03

Hi, anorak!

FWIW the anti-emetics seemed to work for me and I didn't get sick - felt crap a lot of the time but not throwing up sick, just low and tired, so I hope that's the worst you get (Of course you may be having completely different treatment anyway but, you know...)

Glad it's started anyway - now you're one day nearer to being completely clear

GreatAuntieWurly · 29/01/2008 21:03

thinking of you anorak.

anorak · 29/01/2008 21:03

some unpronounceable thing HD, well two unpronounceable things plus an intravenous anti-emetic as well. I have the names written down somewhere.

NewYearNewStart · 29/01/2008 21:05

I love what the lovely wendyweber has just said about you now being 1 day closer to being completely clear. x

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2008 21:06

hope the side effects are not as rough as you expect / fear

waiting in anticipation of feeling ill is horrible

I saw a friend last week who had a mastectomy and then chemo about 6/7 years ago - she looks so well and is back to worrying about her teenagers' antics rather than her health

anorak · 29/01/2008 21:06

Thanks everyone.

The nurses were a hoot. The time went by really quickly.

And they have been telling me to have all the things I have been giving up - it's crazy! Three good meals a day or 6 small ones, no dieting, no vigorous exercise, lot of lazing about, coke or ginger beer for nausea, and 2-3 litres a day of fluids - water, juice, coffee or wine! - said the nurse

They do sound nice anorak. Will you be getting much of a chance to rest at home? Really hope everything goes well for you.

Sparkler · 29/01/2008 21:10

I've just been looking at your pics anorak - it looks gorgeous in Bermuda. And I don't think your Christmas tree is tacky at all - in fact I want one!!!!

Just think how much time you will save not having to wash and style your hair. More time for lazing around glugging wine, and no worries about stray hairs getting in the way of an all over tan .

They do sound wonderful out there. I am so glad that you have good care, and still sound very positive.

SpacecadetOnADiet · 29/01/2008 21:47

definitely take their advice and rest, rest, rest..there are lots of different chemo drugs and different people respond differently to them..not every one experiences all of the possible side effects although you can expect to feel very tierd.
sending you lots of positive anti nausea vibes

anorak · 29/01/2008 21:56

Ah thanks all. My DH is home from work and says he is working from home tomorrow in case I need him.

I do feel a headache coming on but nothing else so far.
