Hi everyone, has anyone experienced anything that looks like this before? I've attached a normal picture and one of it under the microscope. Just looking for reassurance while I wait any information will be highly appreciated

My husband was on the fast track after I spotted a dodgy mole on his back.
He had an out patient appointment, fortunately I went with him, they removed it under local anaesthesia there and then!
Lab results came back a month or so later, he had further surgery to dig down deeper and is all clear now, no other treatment needed.
The photographs I had taken were used by the Dr to assess the speed of growth.

katelyn2007 · 02/11/2022 16:02

Hi, thank you for your reply. Did your husbands look anything like mine? I am so worried I have to attend the dermatology at the rvi on the 16th of this month and I am so worried.

I was referred on the 2 week pathway too. Be prepared, I had EVERY freckle and mole on my body examined and there are alot of them - not just the one that had changed. I then had to go into a room with a photographer and have full body photos and close ups of the freckles the Dr. was concerned about.

Singleandproud · 02/11/2022 16:14

For me, freckles/moles that had been dark were crusting over and falling off and I'd had them for several decades with no change.

I got a telling off and told I was high risk from skin cancer and to wear UV protective clothing from now on during the summer.

I have never been a sun worshipper or used sun beds but have worked outside alot particularly as a teenager so sustained sun damage then.

Percypigmystery · 02/11/2022 17:28

I’ve had a couple look like that (from your photos) that turned out to be seborrheic keratoses.

Soontobe60 · 02/11/2022 17:32

This looks almost identical to one I had on my side. I had it removed about 3 weeks after I saw the dermatologist. It was a basal cell carcinoma, known as a rodent ulcer. It is benign so there was nothing for me to worry about.

katelyn2007 · 02/11/2022 20:57

Thank you percypig that is what I am hoping it is 🤞 did yours look the same as the one under the microscope? As the doctor said it has a few concerning futures the blood vessels was one of them.

Thank you soontobe60. I really hope it is some that is benign the doctor has me worried as she mentioned malignant melanoma. Did yours look like the picture under the microscope?

Yes, from what I can see on your photo. I hope all is well, but good that it is being looked at and you can be reassured about any other moles, lesions etc, as they should check all. 💐

I cut DH's hair and noticed two new moles last week that obviously he couldn't see. He went to GP and has appt at dermatology next week. His looks more mis shapen than that one.
@Sago1 that's useful, I will go with him to the appointment.

Thank you for your reply. How long from the doctors appointment was his referral? Sorry for all the questions just trying to put my mind at ease ☹️ I was at the GPS on the 28th Oct and getting seen by dermatology on the 16th of November

Hi, no words of wisdom but just to let you know I am going through the same thing. My appointment is on 17th November. It is awful as you keep imagining the worst. Fingers crossed everything works out well for you.

Thank you. It's an awful situation isn't it. Is yours similar to mine? Fingers crossed everything is fine when you get their.

Mine is more raised like a pearl but a small cluster of them. My doctor said it didn't look like anything but sent photos to determatoloy and its them who have called me in which makes it more worrying. Dr said it may just be because the photos are not clear enough.

Hi, I had one just like yours on my cheek. I had an appointment within 2 weeks and they decided to remove it, I was back in 4 weeks and had it holepunched out. Didn't feel a thing and just a slight scar. Results were clear it had just randomly changed shape with age I suppose.

Rnt95 · 03/11/2022 18:53

Also just to reassure you, multiple doctors mentioned melanoma to me before it was tested!

StrataZon · 03/11/2022 18:56

I was on a fastrack a few years ago for dodgy looking mole getting bigger. Had it removed and area around and underneath. All sent for biopsy.
Results came back couple weeks later all clear.

MargaretThursday · 03/11/2022 19:28

I was referred recently on 2ww, but all was fine when I went to have it checked. It just means the GP isn't confident that it's okay. The consultant was happy very quickly.

MarshaBradyo · 03/11/2022 19:33

Why did you have it checked op? Just wondering why you thought it irregular

Is it the area around it or just the mole

Thank you 😊 it is such a worry. Had yours been their all your life or just appear? Mine has been their for about 3 year but just recently went a bit rough when I feel it.

The area around it looks wet as the doctor had put gel on to check with the dermoscope.

My mole was darker and started to look like part of it was a small blister. It was removed and came back stage 2 melanoma.
