Hi any ideas what this is. It's very sore when I swallow. I have a sore head and feel a bit nauseous....

Tonsil stone? I get them all the time

Mrsmch123 · 02/09/2022 07:32

@Purplerain1144 do they just go away on their own?

OP posts:
KangarooKenny · 02/09/2022 07:34

@Purplerain1144 do they just go away on their own?

They do eventually but when I get them it scratches my throat and tastes disgusting so I normally try and brush it out with my toothbrush
Gross cos it makes you gag.

20viona · 02/09/2022 07:39

Tonsil stone. Nothing to worry about

kimchifox · 02/09/2022 07:44

It looks like tonsillitis to me especially coupled with the fact you feel unwell and sick, but odd that it's only one side. Tonsillitis can result in white pussy spots on the tonsils. If it's bacterial you can get antibiotics, if viral not. Contact dr and send a picture of your throat. If it doesn't resolve in a few days they may give you abs.

kimchifox · 02/09/2022 07:45

I mean it could be tonsil stones but I get them sometimes but they've never hurt.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/09/2022 07:47

That second pic looks like it might be infected especially as you feel ill. I'd get that looked at. Tonsil stones are usually nothing but that doesn't look right,do you have a temp? Gargle loads with salt water.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/09/2022 07:53

Google Quinsy,I'd want that ruled out.

Mrsmch123 · 02/09/2022 08:09

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor i felt shivery last night but didn't check my temp as I was in bed. Today it's been fine. Also to add my toddler was unwell with a temp a few days ago and looked like he was struggling to swallow but it resolved.

A tonsil infection or a tonsil stone. Possibly an infection if you say you are in pain right now. Tonsil stones are basically rotten food that get stuck in cavities of the tonsils and they really smell bad. I had my tonsils out years ago because of this.

Mrsmch123 · 02/09/2022 09:12

No bad breath noted. I've called the gp who is going to call me back.

Ugh, bad luck, it's rubbish - sorry for you - rest up & hope it gets better v soonFlowers

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/09/2022 12:08

Not surprised, thought it was more than just a tonsil stone. Keep up with salt water gargles as that will help with the pain and shit all the gunk. Feel better soon 💐

Mrsmch123 · 04/09/2022 15:58

Quick question....the yellow pus appears to have turned black in some spots.....is this normal?
is it contagious?my husbands seems to be getting yellow spots just like mine🙈🙊

OP posts:
Covidwoes · 04/09/2022 15:59

Owch @Mrsmch123, I did wonder if it was tonsillitis! I've only ever had it since having both DDs. Not sure about the black spots. Do you have a photo? What are your other symptoms?

Mrsmch123 · 04/09/2022 16:09

@Covidwoes funny I've never had it before but had a baby14 months ago.
I now randomly have one blood shot eye🤷🏻‍♀️

jeffbezoz · 04/09/2022 16:10

My bro had them when he ate too much sugar

Mrsmch123 · 04/09/2022 16:14

I don't have a sugar heavy diet at all🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
Covidwoes · 04/09/2022 19:13

Owch that looks painful! If it becomes much more painful on one side, it could be quinsy (in which case definitely call your GP). Hope you feel better soon, tonsillitis is awful!

Mrsmch123 · 04/09/2022 22:26

It proper hurt's. Even drinking water is making my eyes water!yesterday I managed a muffin the full day and around 300ml of fluids🤦🏻‍♀️I'm drooling like mad but I think it's because I'm not swallowing subconsciously🤦🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
YourUserNameMustBeAtLeast3Characters · 04/09/2022 22:32

That looks horrible. I assume the black stuff is blood. Poor you.

I’ve no idea at what point it would require further medical help. I know quinsy is a risk. Presumably the GP prescribed you something?

NippyWoowoo · 04/09/2022 22:35

I'm obviously late, came on to say def tonsillitis as I've had it many times but see you know this now.

Are you on antibiotics? They really start to help within the first 24 hours I find, and with painkillers round the clock I'm just able to manage it. Hope you feel better soon
