Zoe Nutrition Testing

Not sure this is the right place for this...

Anyone else doing the Zoe Nutrition Testing?

My results were poor, so now I'm tackling my diet. I thought it was pretty good but it's clear it needs a major overhaul. So much information but finding it good.🙂

I’ve been following this and it sounds very interesting if a bit complicated! I’ve joined the waiting list but does anyone have a referral code please?

Hi, I also joined the waiting list many months ago and not heard anything back yet, if anyone has a referral code I’d really appreciate it. Many thanks.

Has someone sorted out a code for you yet?

I might have one left as someone asked then didn't use it but I'm not sure how it works completely.

A while back not just lately.

How is everyone getting on?

I'm not tracking but I did just eat foccacia for breakfast with cheese, avocado and pickles!

I was chuffed with a tea I made the other day, which was chillied beans, pickles and salad and pretty much the kitchen sink of anything I could think of to add more diversity. Tho it appears I can't remember exactly what now, maybe I should track more. :-)

@Darcy101 I've sent you a pm with my referral code :)

chutneypig · 20/09/2022 12:31

I've just started 301. Generally I'm pleased with it all - its helping me navigate the middle ground which is my biggest struggle. I'm finding it easier and easier not to dive on cakes and the like, largely because I'm feeling well on it so there's a real incentive not to mess things up. The increased energy and loss of my afternoon slump is great and I'm definitely less bloated.

Weight loss could be a little faster but it seems to be heading in the right direction.

I'm tracking everything but I like doing that anyway, I like to see the numbers. That's the other plus now I think about it, I'm much less focussed on calories than I was when tracking in MFP. That's quite liberating.

Flockameanie · 20/09/2022 12:50

My challenge is that if something isn't easy to track (e.g. if I'm eating out, on holiday, or having people round to eat) then I don't. So I only seem to track when I'm eating the Zoe way (and therefore get really high scores) but don't when I'm not (and would get low scores).

My other challenge is finding snacks and desserts that are Zoe-friendly and that I actually want to eat.

I'm also getting a bit sick of beans and nuts! I mean, I'm a good and imaginative cook, but there's only so many ways to make a chickpea interesting!

Other than all that, I am actually getting a lot out of the 'coaching' (I'm on 301 too @chutneypig) . I could probably make more of it, by actually contacting the 'coaching team' for suggestions for snacks that aren't 'nuts' or 'cheese'.

MatchaTea · 20/09/2022 22:15

@Flockameanie for snack you could roasted seaweed? In Asian supermarkets you will find a wide selection . You could also make your own kale chips with a ton of nutritional yeast and smoked paprika. They keep for a few days in a Tupperware.

This said, the best thing would be to not snack and lose the habit, because today, tomorrow you have something suitable to snack on, but one day you won't and you will reach for the wrong thing.
Snacking is a very UK-thing. The word / verb snack doesn't exist in French, Italian , .... because adults don't snack. There is a word for the kids having something to eat mid afternoon but you would never use the word goûter or merenda for an adult.

Flockameanie · 20/09/2022 22:39

Right. Thanks for the snack lecture @MatchaTea 🙄

Not that I need to justify it, but I actually don’t snack a lot and it’s certainly not a ‘habit’. I guess my point was that when I do eat food that isn’t a sit-down main meal none of the Zoe-friendly suggestions appeal.

Anyway, I had an Orange Club biscuit yesterday and still scored over 75 for the day… A girl’s got to live a little after all…

lugeforlife · 21/09/2022 07:14

@Flockameanie I hear ya! I find in general I am snacking a lot less (like you too it was an occasional not habitual thing) quite often because I can't be arsed as nothing appeals .

I have rediscovered my love of fruit which is good so often I am going for an apple or a satsuma. I do have a pudding every day but it's yoghurt and fruit usually. And the point is yes to the orange club if you want an orange club (I am a mint girl myself). Your day is still over 75 mate!

And I hear you on the nuts/beans. I am having so many more pulses but I don't love them. I still hugely struggle to get over 75 and probably only manage it once or twice a week tbh. Mostly high 60s/low 70s. No more weight loss, not massive improvement in how I feel. Focus drifting. Meh.

Flockameanie · 21/09/2022 09:40

Yup @lugeforlife - I have yoghurt and nuts with a few berries as a little pudding most days, which is fine. But I get bored of it, even when I rotate the type of nuts. I have good fat, but terrible glucose, control. So puddings are hard anyway. The Zoe pudding suggestions are all ‘energy bites’ ie nuts in ground up/ mashed together form. I just need to search out some of my own options. I think I found some recipes using ricotta that I think would score high for me.

chutneypig · 21/09/2022 19:04

I'm finding wasabi peas hit the spot, I was missing a hit of flavour with nuts. I'd like more cheese but I don't score well on it.

Flockameanie · 21/09/2022 19:52

Brilliant suggestion @chutneypig ! I love wasabi peas and peas score super high for me.

lugeforlife · 21/09/2022 22:33

@Flockameanie I do a thing with ricotta, flax seed and frozen dark cherries. I sort of layer it up, pop a bit of vanilla in the ricotta and it's like a mini cheesecake sort of. Also the lovely Chutney send me her chickpea blondie recipe and I have a batch in the freezer.

Flockameanie · 21/09/2022 22:45

@lugeforlife you just sent me down a bean-based dessert google hole! Founds lots of amazing-sounding options for that occasional sweet treat...
