That's it really

I am a bad mum and sent him to school this morning. He got up and said he had a headache but was happy otherwise. By 10.30 he was in tears and I left work to collect him.

He has been floppy and hot and his head and neck hurt, and he doesn't like light (though he still wanted the telly on )

He is asleep but unhappy

It has been really hard coping with him and his teething sister

Just come and pat me on the back please??

Back home

He had a dangerously high temp despite calpol, which they cured with ibuprofen (which I never give cos he he is asmatic and told not to), they were worried about him, kept him for ages for obs, got the registrar down, took urine and were going to take blood but temp dropped.

They wanted to keep him in, but he was so much better, neck better, head better, temp better... that they let us come home. I promised that I am responsible thinking human who will watch him and bring him back if anything deteriorates....

tIRED!!

Thanks for support and thoughts and all that...

you were the first person I thought of this morning

berolina · 08/01/2008 08:57

Oh, I'm glad he's better.

ShakeysGirl · 08/01/2008 09:09

Really glad hes better, hope you manage to get some sleep today. Is there anyone that can watch the little one for you so you can get a couple of hours?

LilRedWG · 08/01/2008 09:24

So pleased to see this Norma. You definitely did the right thing in getting him to hospital.

sTAnLeYkubriCk · 08/01/2008 09:26

just seen this NSF

glad he is ok
would have done trhe same myself

lulumama · 08/01/2008 10:00

great news ! glad he is on the mend , you have all had a horrible fright, so you must all lie on the sofa under the duvet watching films and chilling out x

NormaStanleyFletcher · 08/01/2008 10:03

I have taken DD to nursery, and told them that if they need me I am at home.

DS2 is up and his head "has started a bit hurting" but nothing like yesterday. His temp is still really high (39.1 even after calpol) but he is installed in front of the telly

Thanks again to everyone for your concern

Thank goodness that all is well

I like lulumama's suggestion

lulumama · 08/01/2008 10:07

do you have any of those cool sachets that stick to your forehead? or a flannel to cool his head.. a bit of tepid sponging maybe?

bless him, hope he is right as rain very soon

Glad he's ok. Sounds very like the virus we had here over Christmas. My 8 year old DS came out of school with symptoms like your DS, sore neck and back, high temp but ok with the light. Luckily able to get appointment with nurse practitioner straight away as I am a major panic pants but she was concerned enough about him to get GP to check him too.

I had same bug three days later, it was nasty, really knocks you sideways, very severe back and neck pain and high temp. Hope he's on the mend soon and that you don't get it too.

Elibean · 08/01/2008 11:38

So glad he's better, well done you, and hope you both get lots of rest

Another who thought of you first thing today (and at 4am when up with dd1, who was dreaming of scorpions nibbling her toes )

SorenLorensen · 08/01/2008 12:05

I'm so relieved - you definitely did the right thing. You must be absolutely knackered - hope he is feeling much better soon.

MargoWishesYouAHappyNooNooYear · 08/01/2008 17:01

Hope he's feeling better soon. x

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 08/01/2008 17:02

I completely missed this. Hope he is fine now and you have had some rest.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 08/01/2008 17:08

I have had rest (been back to bed for 4 hours while DH held the fort. He has gone out to pick up DD from Nursery now, and I am feeling rotten. I am hoping it is because I haven't eaten all day and that once my blood sugar gets back up I will be better....
