It feels like there is a hair in my throat but none?

This probably sounds mad, (it’s driving me mad) Last night had been all fine then after having 1 sip of alcohol (which I rarely do due to reflux) I felt what was like a hair in the back of my throat, I do have hair that goes everywhere but this has never happened. I tried rinsing with water, using a toothbrush, even ate something, kept drinking and well today that sensation is still there. It’s bothering me and I’m unsure if anyone can relate or know :(

I’ve put no hair in title as surely if had been hair it would’ve…

Dry bread or cough medicine for a tickly throat.

lana29 · 31/12/2021 13:21

I’ll try medicine too, it’s so odd as it feels like a hair, not tickly just like something is there that shouldn’t be! It’s odd! But will give it ago! Thanks :)

That was my first Covid symptom

Dontletthemuggglesgetyoudown · 31/12/2021 13:43

Get a torch and have a look?

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 31/12/2021 13:45

I felt like that, then developed a bad cough and lost my voice for a week. My LFTs and PCR were negative.

lotusgirl909 · 31/12/2021 13:50

Roll some olive oil round your mouth and rinse.

Me too. Spent a couple of days trying to scrape the 'hair' out of my mouth
LethargeMarg · 31/12/2021 14:05

If it's a sore throat it's very likely the start of covid

StealthPolarBear · 31/12/2021 14:06

Yes this sounds familiar from my covid. Sorry.

@Dontletthemuggglesgetyoudown Oh god, how long did that symptom last for you? Was this recently? I’ve previously had COVID before the omicron variant which was September time! I hope not again!

I’d say no sore throat, just feels like ever since I took that sip last night it’s not cleared this feeling of hair in my throat! - just annoying more than anything and was fine up until.. x

Hair in the throat feeling lasted about a week it was awful, so weird and uncomfortable. Several of my colleagues were off with Covid at the same time too, I had a couple of days of as was unwell and teach so had to rest my voice before having to go back to work as all tests were negative.

Dontletthemuggglesgetyoudown · 31/12/2021 15:18

@lana29 this was on Sunday tested positive Monday

2022willbebetter · 31/12/2021 15:26

I had that feeling for a few days, it started first then I started coughing for an afternoon before it really developed with temperature and I started to feel unwell

Fuckityfucksake · 31/12/2021 20:27

I get this due to strained vocal chords, feels like I have a hair at the very back of my tongue going down into my throat. It's so annoying, not painful, itchy or sore just bloody annoying. Other times it feels like I have a lump but get the hair thing more often.

KittenKong · 31/12/2021 20:32

I’ve had this for weeks now - must be five? The feeling when you have a piece of dry food caught just at the back of your throat. Nothing to see and nothing to cough up. I don’t have my tonsils and Dr Google says it’s stress (which would be about right).

Happenchance · 31/12/2021 20:34

Tonsil stones, tonsilitis and post-nasal drip can make you feel like you have something stuck in your throat.

ShrillSiren · 31/12/2021 20:36

When this has happened to me it's sometimes a tonsil stone.

lana29 · 01/01/2022 12:09

@ShrillSiren Does it clear and last long? Sorry for silly question :)

@Fuckityfucksake This actually could make sense with me, a few weeks ago I done my voice at gig and couldn’t talk for week and lately my voice has felt different ever since! Should it recover? :(
