For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Stourhead is NT.

I did go to the SS GB years ago and remember it being fairly unremarkable. Maybe it was just because dd1 was rather small and wriggly at the time.

Oh yes, Farleigh Hungerford Mind you, we overdid it rather at one point, when ds1 was in his knight phase. We even took a minibus of children there once for his 7th birthday.

What else?

TooTicky · 29/12/2007 20:15

Bristol museum - may combine with grandmother visit. Except that I would drive to grandmother but would rather bus to museum.

I don't know the Victoria or the Holbourn, or Sydney Gardens for that matter....

Nunney we found a bit dog-pooey and there were lots of the pigeon-repelling sharp bits lying about.

Where is Wellow?

ahundredtimes · 29/12/2007 20:44

My god you're uphill TooT. SS GB is utterly, utterly remarkable I'll have you know. DS1 and DD1 will love it. Fab interactive museumy bit with hats to try on and things to do, and then fab fab boat to look around. Honestly, it's the top trip. I promise you.

Wellow, look on a map. If you want to do that, I shall give you directions to the long barrow. That one's free, would be miserable in the rain though.

Oooh we like the costume museum too, with the headphone things in Bath. But you have to pay. Shouldn't have to pay at the Victoria Art Gallery though.

Chew Magna reservoir, nice walk around there. I know another good walk through an old quarry near Bath, mine like that. But again wouldn't be fun in the rain.

Dyrham Park?

fullmoonfiend · 29/12/2007 22:15

Chew Magna - a real place???

ahundredtimes · 29/12/2007 22:15

Uh huh.

Good isn't it? I've never actually been for a walk there, I was lying, I just wanted to say Chew Magna.

fullmoonfiend · 29/12/2007 22:17

Are there diamonds secreted there?

TooTicky · 29/12/2007 22:41

And it's not far from Nempnett Thrubwell

ahundredtimes · 29/12/2007 22:43

Ahhh and there be diamonds in Thembrett

ahundredtimes · 29/12/2007 22:43

Or rather Nempnett or whatever its called

TooTicky · 29/12/2007 22:43

Well, it was a while ago that I went to SS GB. Perhaps it's been updated - I don't remember anything interactive.

Chew good but quite a long way really. I keep meaning to go there.

Boco · 29/12/2007 22:45

These all sound like Hobbit villages you speak of.

TooTicky · 29/12/2007 22:45

Quarry sounds interesting.

And what's the American museum like? Ds1 has an America fixation atm but largely for Elvis and Hollywood and I vaguely remember that the museum is rather more staid. Dd1 would like it.

ahundredtimes · 29/12/2007 22:51

Is very shaker if I remember rightly, and quite boring.

TooTicky · 29/12/2007 22:52

Tell me about the quarry. Is it near Box?

TooTicky · 29/12/2007 22:54

And about the ford and long barrow (although I feel fords are wiser in summer - my boys sit in puddles) - are there good signposts or is it the sort of place where one isn't quite sure whether one is trespassing?

TooTicky · 29/12/2007 22:56

Have you been to Roundway Down? We haven't but I feel we should.

ahundredtimes · 29/12/2007 22:57

Boco - are you on a timer? Is there a set amount of time you can be here before dp will pop up with a thread about modern art? Let's test it.

TooT - now I can't remember your questions. No, I will need to give you directions for the long barrow. There is a pub in Wellow. Ford - v.g in the summer, mine often go for a wade with a fishing net there.

Can't remember what else you asked. Hang on

ahundredtimes · 29/12/2007 22:58

We did a lovely walk through a valley and up to Solsbury Hill in the summer.

But these are all nice weather things really aren't they?

Boco · 29/12/2007 23:06

Well actually I'm sneaking. Dp has flu now and went to bed early so i'm typing very quietly.

Shhhh.

ahundredtimes · 29/12/2007 23:07

Look TooT it's won a host of awards

Honestly, it is SO good. We've been twice, and mine adored it, absolutely and talk about it all the time. You'll be thrilled to know that the ship's kitchen converted dd to vegetarianism. There, now I can't sell it harder than that can i?

TooTicky · 29/12/2007 23:12

Hello Boco

Sorry, I wasn't being unconvinced, I was restarting the computer because it sort of ground to a halt and then it kept giving me yellow dinosaurs and pretending it didn't know what a Firefox was.
I dream of a wee laptop I can use in bed...

ahundredtimes · 29/12/2007 23:16

You WERE unconvinced. You were being very uphill about it. I worry it might be pricey though. But'd be better than the zoo by a million miles.

Have you got any closer to finding something to do?

Go to the cinema?

TooTicky · 29/12/2007 23:20

Atm, I just CANNOT remove dcs from the television only to deposit them in front of a larger screen.

SS GB looks okay... will probably investigate in the new year.

Am veering towards Brokerswood for tomorrow I think, because it is quite close and guaranteed to use up energy.

Thank you for all your ideas though - I was admiring Dyrham Park before the computer misbehaved - actually, perhaps it was shocked by the admission prices

And where is the quarry?

TooTicky · 29/12/2007 23:21

Sorry, I didn't mean okay in that wishy-washy sort of way - I am really nearly convinced. I seem to have a mental barrier somewhere but I am sure it is vvery good.

Have you done @Bristol?

ahundredtimes · 29/12/2007 23:22

Ah right. You go out of Bath towards Bathampton and up the road and erm along a bit and park on the side of the road and walk through a forest.

Is a nice walk. I have a book. Are you serious about it? If you are I'll go and find the book and give you proper directions.
