So back story, stage 4 endometriosis
Fun. Def not pg.

Day 9 of incredibly heavy period.
Worse within last 48hrs
Incredible worse within last 18 hrs.

Blood pouring out, like a constant trickle but passing huge clots, some size of my palm with 'contractions'.

Totally saturated pad within 20mins.
Saturated pad plus through period pants in 1hr while asleep.

Obs 5.30am

2x Tranexamic acid
BP 98/77
Temp 35.4 / too low to read
Oxygen 96
HB1 110

Feeling a bit (very) shakey, dizzy, sick and a bit breathless.

On my own with my DS, 20 miles from hospital, no 111 service, have called On Call Doctor but no return call yet - 45mins

Im just scared that im going to pass out & DS will have to deal with it.

YABU - wait for call back / GP opening

YANBU - 999

Thanks

I hope you've been seen by now and that you are doing a lot better by now. You poor thing, I sympathize, I still remember my terribly debilitating periods, which improved only after pregnancy and then gradually got worse again till menopause.

Ugh, periods and endo do indeed suck.
So sorry you are going through this.

I hope you are now in hospital and being seen. Well done for deciding to go. Flowers

To those asking why you didn’t decide sooner - sometimes when we feel really unwell it can be hard to make these kinds of decisions!

MrsMariaReynolds · 18/10/2021 10:09

Hope you'll feel better soon, Op.

ImitationofBeing · 18/10/2021 10:13

DebbieHarrysCheekbones · 18/10/2021 10:29

Hope you are ok and have been seen at hospital

Lovemusic33 · 18/10/2021 10:33

I hope you are now at A&E being seen. I have been to A&E several times with heavy bleeding (large clots), they will check your iron levels as obviously that’s one of the main concerns, your iron levels may have dropped dangerously low. Luckily mine were not too bad and I was just given iron tablets, I was already under gynaecology so Hospital wouldn’t do much. I have since had surgery but I’m still having some issues (not as bad but still passing clots).

Ohdofuckofdear · 18/10/2021 11:37

I hope you've been seen by now OP,my best friend has endo and I have fibroids and having periods when your all ready dealing with these conditions is a nightmare.

Fingers crossed for you Flowers

Hexinthecity · 18/10/2021 16:16

@TableDesk I hope you’ve been seen and treated, I have stage 4 endo and remember quite clearly the day I started to bleed so heavily in the library at uni that my friends called an ambulance. I lost so much blood I felt like I was flying, totally lightheaded and everything started to go white. Hope you’re feeling better x

Unmerited · 18/10/2021 20:36

@Kittykat93

Honestly can't believe you didn't know whether to get urgent help, you are literally bleeding out to the point of being Shakey and sick, this amount of blood loss is very serious and a quick Google would have confirmed this rather than waiting for responses on here, Glad you are being seen.
I actually can understand - women are very often expected to put up with terrible bleeding from periods and then you see the shaming on here about going to A&E. It’s absolutely wrong, and obviously this is very dangerous. But I think it’s sadly not surprising.
Toastytoads · 18/10/2021 20:37

Hi OP how are you?

PricklesTheHedgehog · 18/10/2021 22:10

Hope you're ok, OP. Thanks

50ShadesOfCatholic · 18/10/2021 22:45

I can't believe you made the effort to shame a woman who was asking for help when she was very ill.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 18/10/2021 22:49

Hope you're ok op x

Starlightstarbright1 · 18/10/2021 22:55

I ended up in two different hospitals for about the same amount of bleeding when I got shortness of breath and couldn't stop shaking or licking my lips. I knew I was in shock. My heart rate was in the 130s though. Can't remember my BP readings. Turns out my Hb had fallen to 8 from 16.1. The first hospital did a couple of scans, gave me some IV fluids and then after humming and hawing, 5mgs of Warfarin as I am on Warfarin. I was still bleeding as well. I asked the Gynaecologist what she was going to do for me. Nothing was her answer! I then signed myself out of that hospital and presented myself to A and E in the hospital I normally attend 240 kms away. I was given more fluids, more scans, 3 units of blood and vitamin K to counteract the Warfarin. Then I had everything removed, womb, tubes, ovaries, during an operation at about 9.30 at night. The surgeon came round the next morning at about 7.30am and said everything he touched was bleeding! I then had a surgical menopause with no HRT cause of a history of DVTs and discovered I have 2 Endocrine disorders one of them very serious but I'm still here😊

Hexinthecity · 19/10/2021 12:19

@TableDesk hope all’s well table

dizzydizzydizzy · 19/10/2021 18:38

How are you now, OP?

DuvetDayIsEveryDay · 19/10/2021 19:20

How are you OP?

TableDesk · 20/10/2021 01:27

Thanks all so much apart from the shaming sisters Hmm esp the ones saying they "Honestly can't believe you didn't know whether to get urgent help" - i knew i needed to get urgent help, i was not dithering about receiving care, it was how I was going to get there. But once again, you have the minimisers and people who cause you to question your illness Hmm

So i got admitted after being triaged.
I 'looked' ok and it wasn't until a nurse had to accompany me to the toilet that i was taken 'seriously' when they witnessed the blood loss, as awful as it sounds. The nurse was convinced I was miscarrying despite not being Pg (hadnt done pg test yet).

I received iv fluids, iv tranexamic acid x 2, a TV scan and an mri scan booked for next week. I was also booked in for a D&C today if the bleeding / clotting hadnt eased, whixh thankfully it did. Blood levels were 75 which apparently is border? And im to get them checked end of week at GPs for hopeful improvement.

I feel i was 'lucky'. The emergency doctor i got actually had someone working on their team with a special interest / knowledge of womens health / endo and assigned this person to me. It was amazing to be 'believed' and my actions felt justified into coming into a&e.

I have came away with an appointment for mri and gynae consultant appointment all within 2 weeks which i think is amazing.

Thanks for all the good wishes. Sometimes as women, we minimalise our symptoms when we really should listen to our own rationale.

Periods still suck
