For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Can I still be a 10/10er if I'm having a glass of wine at the mo?

frothykindofadrink · 30/11/2007 20:45

great news about the holiday Boco

MrsCarrot · 30/11/2007 20:46

Of course you can. I am.

RobertSmithStoleMyLipstick · 30/11/2007 20:53

phew! haven't stopped thinking about a week in cornwall btw...I sooooo need a holiday.

BBBee · 30/11/2007 20:54

oh mrs carrot - how I adore that idea - how I wish i hd thought of it - how I wish mine had papery calendars with glitter on!

sigh!

frothykindofadrink · 30/11/2007 21:00

we were very against the chocolate route dd1 asks for one every year and I tell her they are boring and try to impress upon her the magic of advent surprise

if that fails I point out she would have to share the tiny button with dd1

my dad bought us a lovely thing the other year - it is far too big but it is nice - it is a Christmas interior scene (tree, Santa, mantelpiece) surrounded by 24 little boxes, and in the boxes there are little wooden toys and baubles that you hang up around the scene on little hooks

MrsCarrot · 30/11/2007 21:01

They are lovely

ds1 has a big mountain scene with a castle and angels and dd's is a old fashioned toyshop with trains and dolls and fold out wings so it looks sort of 3d.

They are the sort of calender I wish I had when I was little whereas I had some sort of branded chocolate one and when I sneakily ate some of them one year, my mother got in a rage and tore it up and shovelled all the remaining chocolates into mouth. Horrible.

BBBee · 30/11/2007 21:02

there is a shop near me that has a lovely nativity set - all painted figures. It is less than £10 and I really want it but DP is a fundemental atheist or something so I am not allowed.

It is so lovely though.

MrsCarrot · 30/11/2007 21:05

is he so fundamental he doesn't eat his Christmas lunch?

MrsCarrot · 30/11/2007 21:06

I bought a navaho indian nativity set last year because I fell in love with the baby jesus.

When I brought it home DH said you only got that because you're pregnant. It was true. It is not the best nativity set.

BBBee · 30/11/2007 21:07

no - it is very selective and i feel it is mostly for effect / recreational arguing / excuse not to do most things.

frothykindofadrink · 30/11/2007 21:07

yes no gifts for him if he is so fundamental

RobertSmithStoleMyLipstick · 30/11/2007 21:08

lol MrsC

frothykindofadrink · 30/11/2007 21:08

buy nativity scene Bbbee

if he makes a fuss don't give him any turkey

MrsCarrot · 30/11/2007 21:14

You know those tacky canvas covered tents in the DIY stores that sell all the ghastly light up santas and flashing stuff?

Well we found a really sweet little set, sort of swiss looking scene with tiny lit up cottages and a train going round on a track. It sat on the piano and glowed pleasingly and dc's loved it.

Last year when DH got the Christmas box down it slid off the top and smashed to bits and we couldn't find another one. They are all nasty and and noisy and glowy.

MrsCarrot · 30/11/2007 21:15

I didn't let him have a mince pie with his mulled wine for punshment.

FrayedKnot · 30/11/2007 21:16

See now if I had a husband who was a fundamental thingiebob I would be tempted to wander round the house singing "Away In A manger" after an argument.

I don;t think DS' calendar has chocolates in ti but actually, i haven't looked.

TootTheAbsoluteLoon · 30/11/2007 21:27

Bee, buy it! For the magic. Oh, I LOVED the timelord bit!

MrsC, that was a horrid thing your mother did

My dcs have German glittery ones. My mother always seeks them out. She will be v. upset when some of them declare themselves too old for such things. Dd1 is on the brink.

Avi, thank you That is beautiful. I need to think about it and then go back and read it again. Actually, dd1 may do some work on it. It also reminds me of a Maths in Nature video we were shown at secondary school, but I don't think it really explained things properly.

Ds1 is not a well boy. He is hot and only able to eat stewed apple. I knew it was genuine when he called for his favourite badger.

BBBee · 30/11/2007 21:28

oh FK that is so the case - I hum the odd carol and pretend I didn;t know it was religous.

funny how he manages to bring up the ol' pagan festival element when it comes to drinking and feasting!

lullabyloo · 30/11/2007 21:47

mrs c..... at your mother
ds has a big glittery woodland scene calender....cant be doing with the depressing chocolate variety

he got up this afternoon & we baked a tiny weeny fruit cake in his little cake tin from his new baking set & then we made soup and sat slurping while we watched The Snowman snuggled up on the sofa under a quilt.

dh is away.....hurrah.....for peace & quiet & no cooking

RobertSmithStoleMyLipstick · 30/11/2007 21:56

lullllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lullabyloo · 30/11/2007 22:05

hello lovely
(what's with all the changiness??????)

pinkspottywellies · 30/11/2007 22:07

I have bought a little advent train with drawers. I think when dd is older we will have some drawers with treats in and some with bits of paper with Christmassy things to do (ie, making mince pies, hanging up decorations). The train is boring though so I will add things to it - glitter and snow and the like!

Food - rubbish. Headache all day. Going to bed in a minute. DD still screaming ALL the time

fancied a change...you know me

mailed you today, hopefully it found you

IdrisTheDragon · 30/11/2007 22:17

I am enjoying my construction very much .

DS and DD also have paper glittery ones from my mum. I am not a believer in chocolate ones - the chocolate is generally yuvcky and there is no imagiunation in the pictures.
