For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh Boco you and your poor dds

lol at 'calm down' I shout 'stop screaming' sometimes

my dad is coming today to Sit With Me because I am ill. I do not know what he thinks this will achieve. I know that company is nice etc but we barely see each other, I was brought up by my mum

Still he is trying. He wants to take me out for lunch but on this exclusion diet this could prove very tricky

GibbonInARibbon · 27/11/2007 10:07

OK - was v good yesterday. 7 portions and no wine with dinner (my weakness, I cook and sip wine)

I need ideas, as after lully telling me many moons ago to invest in a food processor, I did so at the weekend.

Have to say it scares me slightly, soooo many attachments...and when you are lacking in imagination like me, v overwhealming.

So does anyone have any food processor virgin fool proof recipies? I'm veggie but DH eats meat.

Sorry to barge in and ramble but I am so determined to get healthy again.

Might even dig out my yoga matt.

Hope you all are well

frothykindofadrink · 27/11/2007 10:31

oh Gibbon I got rid of mine it was too complicated

IdrisTheDragon · 27/11/2007 12:07

Hello. Have had a productive morning of getting up, getting three quarters of the Dragon household dressed, taking DS to pre-school, DD and me posting the shoes to TooT, doing small amount of shopping including satsumas and apples and bananas, going to toddler group with DD, coming back, getting DS's bike to pull along to pre-school with DD in the buggy, bringing them back and am now making lunch.

This is not really lots and lots to have done but in my generally apathetic way it is Impressive .

We will calm down a little now (DS and DD are watching the Snowman ).

lionheart · 27/11/2007 14:34

Hello. I have been rubbish with the 10/10 targets, really busy and stressy and all that.

Must get back on course.

Ooh, thanks Idris We love getting parcels!

I am cooking veg and lentil stew but I can't get up and make the dumplings because dd2 has me by the nipple.

FrayedKnot · 27/11/2007 16:59

Evening lovely veggers.

DS is in the garden in the pitch dark iwth a torch, running around and trying to get the cat to play with him. He wants me to go out but I'm not going.

We are having fish pie for supper. It's about the only way I can tolerate fish so I do try once ina while. Roast veg to go with it. I have hardly eaten any f&v today so far....been on school visit which meant I ate hardly anthing this morning, and apart from a satsuma, my only other F&V consumption has been a lone glace cherry in a flapjack

frothykindofadrink · 27/11/2007 17:20

hello have had day with My Father

he came up to sit with me in manner of invalid in old people's home, bringing plants etc

We discussed:

Farming
Northern Rock
How Now We Are Older We No Longer Need As Many Things (response to 'what do you want for Christmas dad?')
Immigration

I did feed him turkey salad and my vile cardboardy bread, which he deluged in butter and pronounced 'delicious' and fruit, so I have still done quite well

am roasting parsnips for tea. It feels like a roast parsnip sort of a day

filthymindedvixen · 27/11/2007 17:51

Hello parnsippy pals.

I am in panic. It has dawned on me how much I have to do before xmas which isn't actually christmas ifkwim. 2 assignemtns to finish before tuesday, baking for school fair, face painting at fair, arrange somehting for dh's bithday, arrange something for ds1's birthday, buy my mum a birthday present, face painting next week for a charity fair (special favour, pet charity) sort out costume for ds2 nativity. And I'm working 4 days a week ((wail))

TooTicky · 27/11/2007 18:09

Sod the vinegar fmv, just have the cider

filthymindedvixen · 27/11/2007 18:14

I, er, overindulged on sunday so have vowed to be alcohol free til the weekend...

FrayedKnot · 27/11/2007 19:26

LOL FMV. I have all but finished my Christmas shopping because I have so much on in December that is completely un-Christmas related, and I knew if I didn;t, things would have gone horribly wrong by about December 21st. I have even wrapped some things which seemed very unseasonal and weird.

MrsCarrot · 27/11/2007 19:58

I have wrapped about half of mine, completely unheard of for me, I normally do it on Christmas eve.

ahundredtimes · 27/11/2007 20:02

Crikey. I haven't bought anything. Except Franny's brilliant woodwork thing for dd. That arrived. Hurrah.

I must go and get some things. I had very vegetable shepherds pie tonight, well obviously not a shepherds pie at all, unless all his sheep have been got by a wolf and he's been reduced to eating lentils and carrots and things. A Gardeners Pie perhaps? Anyway it was nice.

Right am off to do bathtime. Hope all sick people are getting better.

frothykindofadrink · 27/11/2007 20:10

god but my tea was horrid

pinkspottywellies · 27/11/2007 20:13

Apple, orange juice, raisins, satsumas, salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, BORING), onions and lentils (in sheperds pie), peas, broccoli, carrots, melon. Yay! 10 for the first time in ages Badge please

Christmas seems relatively sorted which is worrying me. What have I forgotten?! I also have mum, stepdad, sis and her dp coming next weekend and we're having Christmas. (We won't see each other over actual Christmas) So I need to decide what to cook. And I'm working at the sweet shop on all that weekend (Fri, Sat am and Sun) that will be a shock to the system! So next weekend fruit and veg intake with include foam bananas, chocolate raisins, chewy stawberries and sour apples!

TooT, have you sorted out the jam jar? I thought of pebbles or shells or dried flowers.

Franny how have you ended up with 2 scans booked? Hope you're feeling ok and that you don't take on too much. Even if people are a bit miffed in the short term they'll understand when they find out!

pinkspottywellies · 27/11/2007 20:15

LOL at 100x! My shepherds pie was actually cottage pie but with lentils too and dh liked it again and I told him there had been lentils in the Spag Bol and he was a bit upset but he still said it was very nice!

FrannyandZooey · 27/11/2007 20:17

I did a roast dinner today, I have definitely got more energy. Am fancying fruit a bit more as well - Tatties - the nausea is nothing like it was, just occasional odd rumblings now or a sudden feeling of aversion, not that awful I-must-lie-down-right-now thing. Am feeling hungry and fancying quite a few foods and am putting on weight I think. Yikes. I will blow my cover too quickly at this rate.

I was ruthless MrsC and turned down dinner tonight with friends, plus phoned church fete woman to say no I couldn't really do a stall this year, however that was slightly less successful as I have apparently got out of doing a stall, but instead have to come for half an hour at the end, and stand at front and lead songs including White Christmas. Dp thinks this hilarious.

What else have I done? It feels like a very long day. I hope everybody poorly feels better soon. Frothy that sounds exhausting, can he be persuaded not to do it again do you think?

pinkspottywellies · 27/11/2007 20:18

Yay, someone else likes my title I have thought of another one too

FrannyandZooey · 27/11/2007 20:20

Oh I booked an expensive local one which would mean dp taking a day off, then when I found out the price of the one half an hour's drive away, that we can do on a Sunday, I booked that one as well and waited for dp to come home so we could decide. We are doing the further away one and getting a babysitter for ds. It's a lot cheaper and less stressful all told - I was worried about having to rush back to pick ds up from nursery, but this is much better.

Only 3 weeks to wait.

pinkspottywellies · 27/11/2007 20:28

How exciting! I'm glad you've found a stress free option!

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 27/11/2007 20:47

Do you not get a dating scan anyway, Franny? I know in Scotland they don't have the 20 week one.

What is the woodwork thing, 100x?

Tatties · 27/11/2007 20:47

Ooh Franny only 3 weeks! That is exciting.

TooTicky · 27/11/2007 20:47

We did two jars. Dp filled one with little bottles of scented oils for burning which he had lurking about. I hastily filled the other with marbles. I think I tipped in some cobweb as well but there wasn't time to fish it out.
