For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

It is Ay-vi I think.

IdrisTheDragon · 22/11/2007 21:49

However it is said you are very much better than me at scrabble. And seeing as we have three games on the go mainly due to my inability to click only once, I keep noticing it.

PSW I probably haven't played my move in our game. I will investigate.

I don't feel strongly about it, and I'm interested in what you're saying Possum and Avi.

I think I understand your position intellectually, but not imaginatively. It all seems very literal and concrete and shining bright lights and knowing The Truth, and sometimes I think it's okay for things in childhood to be murky and a bit unknown and fantastic and ambiguous. FC sort of is here, because he's a good story, and possibly true and possibly not.

We go about with all the lights turned down dim here, bumping in the furniture and jumping at shadows.

Phew, I didn't wink.

IdrisTheDragon · 22/11/2007 21:56

I like playing scrabble .

It is fascinating seeing the words other peopl ecome up with (and occasionally coming up with something myself).

Am glad your DH got his flight (although of course I haven't met him).

IdrisTheDragon · 22/11/2007 21:59

I wonder what DS thinks about Father Christmas. I am not convinced I won't accidentally reveal all, although that isn't my intention.

FrannyandZooey · 22/11/2007 21:59

I was pleased with stramp

IdrisTheDragon · 22/11/2007 22:00

Franny, I saw your thread in your other name (and immediately knew it was you ).

I wish I could do puns. Maybe I need to have more vegetables and then I could.

oh of course it was me

I just don't want linkage

FrayedKnot · 22/11/2007 22:06

Did we find out what Mr Avvy bought?

I had a very embarassing moment with DS this afternoon in our local post office / shop where they happen to sell trashy pocket money toys.

I was in teh post office queue and DS was holding forth loudly about the fact that if DH were there he would buy DS x toy because DH has lots of money and he always says

"Errrrr....ummmmmm...ok then"

Now this was a bit of an exaggeration but nevertheless I am having words with DH about it now

pinkspottywellies · 22/11/2007 22:07

Idris I've just played my turn, I've been off all week. Avvi, I've started a new game with you (and I've got the worst selection of tiles ever!) Franny, gigue?!

FrannyandZooey · 22/11/2007 22:08

gigue is lovely

god you lot are so PICKY

JustPossum · 22/11/2007 22:09

100x, I'm not aiming for literal and concrete, explaining the story of S Nicholas has many powerful mytho-poeic elements which are essential in childhood before the brain has matured to think ethically and in the abstract. I simply object to the 20th century hijacking of that myth and its debasement from something that was previously much more magical.
I am certainly pro rustley bustley stockings, they cansurely be thrilling and tingly with anticipation without all the clap trap of a mad fat Finn with reindeer on LSD who fly above the chimney pots.

ahundredtimes · 22/11/2007 22:10

I don't think I understand what you're saying really Avi.

Am I right in thinking that you are going to tell ds that it is a story? And then there will be a stocking. So won't he say 'so is the story real then?' and that you will say 'no the story isn't real, we put the presents there, it's not real, it's a story.' ??

I think children are like this. If you don't explain it is a story, but just act out the story, doesn't that work? I've never said Father Christmas is a real person, but then again nobody has asked me to (except for ds1 the other day).

Oh I'm in a muddle now.

I must go and talk to dh and keep him company for a bit. Night all.

IdrisTheDragon · 22/11/2007 22:12

Gigue is a word I would love to use. I even know what it means (is it just me or does anyone else find that they create words they have never seen before and have no idea what they mean?)

IdrisTheDragon · 22/11/2007 22:13

Are we going to fall off the world again? Maybe I should stop talking and then the chance would be lessened.

pinkspottywellies · 22/11/2007 22:18

I suggested a new title and everyone is studiously ignoring it

Possum, I want to ask you nosy questions about languages and cultures.

Avi, you actually flummoxed me by saying Avvi when we first spoke. Did I look flummoxed? Well that was why, Aivi.

Dd2 and I had a bad night last night. She missed her nap and was too tired to eat much dinner and so was enormously hungry later. After what felt like hours of slurping, I denied her bf. I felt mean but desperate, in a just-can't-stand-it-any-more kind of way. She cried quite a lot but I hugged her and gave her drinks of water (she does get v. thirsty in the night). I was wondering if it was a one-off or whether I was reaching That Stage but I have bf her today and it has been fine. And she doesn't seem at all traumatised. I didn't get to sleep until gone 2 though. Still not sure if I was a very bad and mean mummy.

Maybe I need to use the analytical part of my brain more and treat it as a problem solving exercise, rather than trying to find words.

DH says I have to go to bed very soon. He is right.
