For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

MrsC, such lovely food! I have had lots of fruit but only a cheese salad sandwich.

FrannyandZooey · 22/11/2007 18:57

I am eating less f +v since I am pg

this is crap isn't it

I just seem to want mayonnaise based foods and occasionally cake

tell me off

MrsCarrot · 22/11/2007 18:57

who is it?

FrannyandZooey · 22/11/2007 19:00

just me

zippitippitoes · 22/11/2007 19:00

ooh u r norty.. but i like u

xx

filthymindedvixen · 22/11/2007 19:01

Franny [shock!]

Eat fruit cake (rich in iron)

I went through a big baked potato phase last time i was pg. (lunch and dinner, with butter, cheese and cottage cheese!)

Go with the flow for a bit, I can't imagine why your body is telling you in needs mayo, but obviously it needs mayo

FrannyandZooey · 22/11/2007 19:04

it does need mayo it seems

I think it is partly because I have gone off fruit this is a sad day for me and no mistake

and partly because I can't be bothered to cook much so dp is doing a lot of the meals. He tends to gloss over vegetables as a food group in favour of fried matter.

FrannyandZooey · 22/11/2007 19:05

I want a baked potato now

filthymindedvixen · 22/11/2007 19:06

yyeeeessss. That sounds familiar. I get given a plate with a bloody great space where veg or salad would obviously be placed by anyone normal...

MrsCarrot · 22/11/2007 19:07

I think you should listen to your body, you will eat fruit in good time.

Were you the other person?

FMV - I long for a chesse sandwich some some days.

FrayedKnot · 22/11/2007 19:18

I had a baked potato with tuna mayo for supper.

I am in no way possibly pregnant.

Perhaps you pought to be eating more eggs.

TrinityRhino · 22/11/2007 19:21

roffle
oh sorry
my dirty mind was immeadiately turning it to down on alice lol

ahundredtimes · 22/11/2007 19:22

MrsC, I don't know about the wart thing. I remember ds2 and his friends all endlessly shaking their heads at each other and saying 'I'm giving you nits'. It was sort of immature and annoying, and they thought it was funny, rather than mean.

Though this girl does sound like she might have been being mean I suppose. In a one to one, and 'then there will be pain' way. I wouldn't bring it up with the mother I don't think, perhaps mention it to the teacher.

frothykindofadrink · 22/11/2007 20:03

Franny I completely went off veg when pg - esp the 'good for you' sort like dark leafy greens - made me want to hurl

me and dd went away for final romantic fling on Isle of Mull when pg with dd1 in lurvely country hotel famed for fantastic food - nearly everything came on bed on wilted spinach or some such it was dire

I am doing very well from a fruit point of view but shite veg wise. Had dinner at my mums which meant obligatory dessert spoon full of Birds Eye frozen mixed veg

however am sipping simply beee-yoo-tiful watermelon, kiwi and blueberry smoothie that I have just whizzed up

I am having it in a wine glass to make it feel more decadent

frothykindofadrink · 22/11/2007 20:04

sorry me and dh went away for romantic fling

romantic fling with dd would have been, well, wrong on many levels

womblingalong · 22/11/2007 20:04

Moony good for you that you would even consider it, I deffo wouldn't reveal/freeze my flab!

womblingalong · 22/11/2007 20:06

Franny,

I am a fruitarian, and even I went off fruit in the 1st trimester, do not worry it will come back, and then for 3rd trimester I was obssessed with grapefruits, not sure why.

MrsCarrot · 22/11/2007 20:17

100x - I know what you mean, it could be normal kids stuff but DD said she just kept doing it, poking it on her face in a nasty way even though DD was upset. And I think the comments about your mum has to pick at it and you scream are a bit weird.

The teacher mentioned things at parents evening about this particular dynamic and she's noticed the meannness in class and was monitoring it. Mostly it's small things but it's constant and this is just another thing.

Unfortunately, DD seems to adore her and believe what she says rather than me. Most evenings at dinner we have to discuss how tomatoes are not actually a fruit because friend's granddad was a farmer and he knows.

pinkspottywellies · 22/11/2007 20:33

I'm baaaaaack! After the lovely lovely meet up we met my friend for lunch and went to the Tower of London and the British Museum and the gift shop on HMS Belfast and the Zoo and everything. DD started doing bits of walking and has 3 molars (ah, that's why she's been waking in the night) and dh was poorly and didn't sleep for the last 3 nights (well hardly at all ) Everyone was lovely but I hardly spoke to some people and I didn't speak to TooT at all (Hi TooT ) and I was just catching up on the thread and MrsC has Le Crueset and I'm jealous! Anyway I shall go and read the rest now!

MrsCarrot · 22/11/2007 20:33

Franny - did you?

So you did, sorry.
