For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Boco · 21/11/2007 09:23

Really? God I really should have stuck around for that.

zippitippitoes · 21/11/2007 09:25

yes it was interesting seeing her in action...

MrsCarrot · 21/11/2007 09:56

yes, that was fascinating. I couldn't hear what Franny was saying but she looked very calm and everything was ok except we had to leave quickly.

He smiled as we all left though?

What was said?

Boco · 21/11/2007 10:07

What happened? Why did he turn?

frothykindofadrink · 21/11/2007 10:37

Hello all

Boco hope your dd is feeling better

Have been a very bad mother this morning - dh left for his train at 5.45am and dd1 woke up. I feel bad enough as it is - I can't really stand up for long enough to brush my teeth - and she kept dragging me up and down stairs, wailing

I was very mean to her and admit here in front of witnesses that I really, really, really did want to suffocate her

(wombling thanks for asking what was up with me - I've got post viral fatigue. So no pain/ life-threatening situation to complain about, just v v tired and weak)

zippitippitoes · 21/11/2007 10:46

sorry you are feeling so rotten frothy..my ds had this when he was 7 or 8 it was pretty awful especialy as we thought he was playing up for ages

have you lost weight too? he used to have build up to help

frothykindofadrink · 21/11/2007 10:58

STOP EVERYONE I HAVE JUST SEEN BOCO IN A CRAIG DAVID VIDEO

exactly the same rabbit head as on her facebook profile

wow. I know someone famous! (you are very good at dancing btw, very, um, supple. Hope you won't be teaching your kids to dance like that)

Boco · 21/11/2007 11:03

What were you doing watching Craig David? You should be resting, stop that at once!

I look quite good in a bikini don't i?
Someone else spotted this a while ago - megalegs i think, and posted it. It's hard being so famous.

frothykindofadrink · 21/11/2007 11:05

it doesn't take a lot of energy to watch music television

it is hardly taxing intellectual work

I'm actually supposed to be writing a design brief I promised myself I'd work for 20 minutes today

Boco · 21/11/2007 11:11

No no, it's not the music video that's taxing - it's Craig David - funny little fella, taxingly awful music.

frothykindofadrink · 21/11/2007 11:48

oh he used to make me larf with his spiky head

chillin the jacuzzi rofl rofl

womblingalong · 21/11/2007 13:11

Hello fellow fruity friends!

Frothy, sounds horrid, and life sapping, poor you.

Boco how is your dd today? (she is so edible btw) Mrs C how is DS? My DS is still full of a cold, and has developed conjunctivitis - boo! Poor thing couldn't open his eyes when he woke up this morning, bless him he cried and cried until I was able to bathe them.

3andnomore · 21/11/2007 13:49

Franny, goodness, why was Roberto (whoever he is) want to call the police? Was he going to call it on you lot? Did you all behave ungraceciously? Gosh, you must have had a good ttime, and makes me feel that I missed out even more
Boco...tried to find where you wrote about your mum making whichever comment, but couldn't find it! But whatever she said can't have been very nice My sister always had a wonderful knack of putting me down in such a sneaky way, that she sort of made the put down like it's meant to be a compliment....NOT NICE!
Well, I went to my course yesterday, and I had to hand in my first ever Essay, and I gotten an A- I am quite chuffed. We only had 2 weeks to do it and we had to write it in 800-1000 words (which isn't many words, you know, lol) and well, the Tutor said that it was the best Essay on that particular Subject (describing current ethical and legal issues surrounding assisted suicide in the UK) she had ever read in that particular course....she also told me that I was able to write critical analytically already very well and that I was a natural student and would have no trouble when doing the OT degree....so, well, am happy and proud
Also got a card from Northampton University, saying they received my application now and I will hear in a few weeks from them...so, cross all you have for me, please.
Must say, f&v wise I am so rubbish, it's terrible, it really is a disgrace....I really should get myself organised and make fresh soups to freeze, as I like those in winter and at least I would increase my f&v intake that way!

3andnomore · 21/11/2007 13:51

Oh, what's the matter with you frothy?

And LL is, I believe, having a Hospital appointment today, hope that all goes well!

TigerFeet · 21/11/2007 13:53

Oh gawwwd you lot move to quickly for me

Have been stuffing fruit into myself in frightening proportions. Our local garden centre has just started a fruit stall - I got a punnet of blueberries, a punnet of raspberries and a mahoosive mango for £3.50. Have been eating fruit salad ever since

Had wholemeal pitta bread with houmous and salad for lunch. It was yum.

I can't watch Craig David any more without thinking of that hideous piss take that BoSelecta did.

lionheart · 21/11/2007 14:51

Well done, 3, what a flying start.

Why did Roberto go bonkers? Were we rowdy? Did we take stuff?

FrayedKnot · 21/11/2007 14:56

3and that's brilliant!

I'm not sure who Roberto was. Why did it all go wrong at the end?

I am wondering whaT to do with DS this afternoon.

So far I have had lunch, he has played a bit with his trains, and now I really need to do something properly. I have that Novemebr feeling. WE seem to have done loads of cooking / dough / sticking and so on lately and it's raining again.

We have also had a conversation about death and I'm not sure what I'm doing tbh. It's to do with DH Mum who died when DH was about 22. DS keeps asking where DH's Mummy is, so I have told him that she died, but he seems to think that we can go to DH's Dad's house and pour water on her and she will come back to life.

So I think I need to explain further but not quite sure how.

Oh well done 3! You must be very proud.

I still want to know what happened at the end with Roberto.

And what is the 7 year thing? I missed that too.

Ooh it's all hotting up at the school gates over the birthday table of shame. The petition is going round and people are divided and tensions running high. A mother came up to me today to 'warn' me that someone was getting very angry and saying it's all my fault and that she thinks i'm an idiot because children HAVE TO LEARN!. WtF. Her child was left out last time, i complained, she didn't - she supports it because they have to learn? She is the diot. Sorry, must keep rant for bday table thread but really.

lionheart · 21/11/2007 16:47

She is wrong. You are right.

Wear some stompy boots so that you will feel strong and grounded and ready for her (no kicking, of course).

I missed Franny's boots.

SauerKraut · 21/11/2007 16:58

Wow, 3, congratulations!! There has been a lot of talk on that very topic here in the last month as it is permitted and one of the organisations has been having problems, don't know if it'sfiltered through to the UK.
Bless, FK,that's a lovely idea of your ds's, if only it were true. "Living in Heaven with God" is how we deal with it and it comforts, but I know not everyone feels they can say that.
You sound very brave, Boco- it's great you're confronting the birthday table problem. A lot of people here have the same attitude towards children having to "learn" in this horrid way and it's just not necessary.

3andnomore · 21/11/2007 17:02

Boco...Birthday table of shame? What is that all about then?

gizmo · 21/11/2007 17:12

Well, I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time Boco - but how does your playground acquaintance think all the children in other, non-birthday-table-endowed, schools 'learn'?

No doubt she is now suffering guilt by proxy. She didn't do anything about it when her kid was feeling excluded, now someone is pointing out it's not right, and she's realising she should have done. Shoot the messenger.

I'm off to eat a banana.

And congrats 3, sounds like you are going to ace your course.

FrannyandZooey · 21/11/2007 17:21

3and, that's great news. You must be pleased and relieved.

FK we had a lot of stress over death when ds was 2, and in the end I found the best thing was to be totally honest (obviously at a suitable level of understanding) and then just cope with his fears. If we tried to protect him from the truth it just went on and on and on until we were more honest. Then he found it quite hard to accept but eventually talking it through as much as he wanted did sort it out. I am actually relieved we have got it over with. We don't believe in any kind of afterlife which made it more hard at the time, but I think in retrospect it was useful for all of us. Death is so seldom honestly discussed and faced in our lives.

Erm I don't get what happened with Roberto either. He seemed to have a kind of brainstorm at the end and wanted loads more money for various reasons - he said I had told him we would want loads of wine (erm, no), that there would be 36 adults (no), that we would be gone by 2.30 (again no) and god knows what else really. I think he had got in a real fluster for some reason, and I suspect he had got confused on the time and thought it was nearly 4.30. Once we cleared this up and told him it was 3.20, and he had gone to check we hadn't all changed our watches to deceive him, he reverted back to being nice normal friendly person - "but you need to leave NOW!" They were fab though, weren't they? It was just a misumderstanding and he was fine when we left.
