For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I don't know. Perhaps it's just that you're a nice comfortable person to be around

Hi All,
hope the meet up went well....I so wanted to come, but well...maybe next time eh.

Had a bit of a baddish news....Dh has been told today that he will not get his extension (to stay another year or 2 in the Army) and that means he will be out in April....I am finding this a really frightening prospect and well he hasn't got a clue what he wants to do, etc...., sigh....not great
Other then that all is well here and I hope you all are doing good!

lullabyloo · 20/11/2007 16:04

oh 3 ...that's tough
you sound very
we miss you...please come back & chat to us more often

MrsCarrot · 20/11/2007 16:18

Sorry to hear that, 3,. Come and talk to us more.

Avi dh was very charming, I chatted to him briefly but I felt a bit shy and babbled stupidly.

Toot - it is ventolin, why, have you got something awful to tell me about it? DD's already had some.

FrannyandZooey · 20/11/2007 16:34

Oh dear 3, that is scary for you. I hope it is the beginning of a great new phase in your lives but at the moment it must look rather worrying.

Avi, please tell us the story of the 7 years trying to catch Mr Avi. I don't think AP should be a word but I do think NI should be, and EB, and anything at all two lettered with a V in it would be nice, also.

We just went to the supermarket and ds on being told he could choose a 'treat' has bought himself some pink carnations

TooTicky · 20/11/2007 16:42

Oh, good luck 3! At least you have some time to get used to the idea.

MrsC, I had ventolin for years. It is very much short term relief. I gave it up in the end because it gave me awful palpitations which really scared me, and which the doctors said were completely normal. Actually, fingers crossed and all that, my asthma has pretty much disappeared since I've been having homeopathic treatment and it used to be very bad at times.

I have fed the dcs already except for dd2 who is having a couldn't-possibly-stay-awake-any-longer nap. Dd1 and ds2 are out this evening and I couldn't face the usual scramble.

FrannyandZooey · 20/11/2007 18:38

well would one of his fans please come and take him away for half an hour? Dp is late home and I am trying to eat my dinner and ds is driving me MAD

fullmoonfiend · 20/11/2007 18:45

seriously. I'll have him...

this weekend made me horribly, horribly broody - not just for babies but younger children generally

FrannyandZooey · 20/11/2007 18:48

yes I would like a little ball of squidge about 2 I think...

...for about half an hour, then he could go back to his real mummy

Boco · 20/11/2007 18:58

Hello - dd2 was given ventolin today too. He thinks it's a viral wheeze and croup and could be the start of asthma - so similar to you MrsC. He also said that if in the next few weeks it hasn't gone away then he will do blood tests for immune problems. She was ransacking his toybox and very loudly chatting so didn't look at all poorly. Coughing her head off now though, but still in good spirits.

FrannyandZooey · 20/11/2007 18:58

more ds news

in his bath tonight he had to pretend to be an archer fish (we saw them at the aquarium yesterday). I had to stick a wad of wet toilet paper to the wall of the bathroom so he could dislodge it by spitting a jet of water at it.

Dp and I saw this coming - he was fixated from the moment he saw the archer fish do its stuff - "That's like me! I'm an excellent spitter too!"

FrannyandZooey · 20/11/2007 18:59

oh cross posts boco

how are you feeling about it?

Boco · 20/11/2007 19:07

Oh ok, just hoping it works. I do think the blood tests aren't necessary, she's prone to this and will very likely have asthma as i do, and is prone to croup and general chest problems, - but hopefully will grow out of it. Just a pain now as i'm TIRED!

MrsCarrot · 20/11/2007 19:43

It does sound similar doesn't it, DD is also a bit asthmatic and so am I, but only around animals these days. Hope the inhaler helps. Lo has gone to bed looking dreadful, rings around his eyes and he's been so clingy. I am pleased he is in bed now tbh as it is ds1 birthday today.

He is out bowling with a couple of friends, and DH, they will be back soon. I am having paella for dinner and I've made him an enormous cheesecake. It was what he wanted but much more faff than I imagined with eggs and cream and bain maries and coulis.

Thank god there are no more birthdays for a while, this time of year is exhausting and barely a breath before the advent calenders. I had to hunt about for nice sparkly old fashioned ones ut I found some. They are lovely.
