I would like to play scrabble on another day however I would warn anyone that I haven't played since I was seven

am very at roast dinners and pizzas, dh reheated a frozen paella - except it wasn't very hot

and I cannot complain because he is doing everything at present while I lie flakily around in my pyjamas

TigerFeet · 11/11/2007 19:14

[sails in on boat made from satsuma peel]

what ho ladies

sex on the beach, anyone?

there is f&v involved

TooTicky · 11/11/2007 19:14

Why are you flaking Froth? Are you ill? Have I missed something?
Thanks v. much for photos btw - I did email but sometimes my emails don't arrive and I worry that people think I am rude

TigerFeet · 11/11/2007 19:16

(realises the thread has moved on)

I have a Serious Question, but I will keep it for tomorrow when we are all being virtuous again

BBBee · 11/11/2007 19:28

3 satumas
large crab and prawn salad
roast vegetable crostini
some vile tinned fruit salad

that is not much but worryingly a darn sight better than I have been doing later.

Oh well - will buy some apples and satsumas and eat all 8 throughout the day tomorrow.

AitchTwoOh · 11/11/2007 19:29

i have been dabbling with a bit of meal planning and it's been notable that when dh and i eat the food we want it's mostly veggie, but meat is our convenience food.

MrsCarrot · 11/11/2007 19:52

Mmm, Aitch, that sounds delicious. I must come to your blog, I have moved over to the dark side and we mix finger food with puree. I know, I know. I don't know, however, how to curb his love of carrot and apple puree, despite his loving whole apple and carrot.

Franny - You had a child's pizza? Why?

Even my children don't eat the childrens pizza. It's titchy, bird sized, deffo not for a tall lady creating life.

BBBee · 11/11/2007 19:56

MrsC - oh tell me it was wonderful - not cut foot and hangover - tell about you dancing and twirling and all your friends telling you how wonderful you were and how brilliant you felt...

MrsCarrot · 11/11/2007 19:59

LOL bee, I was having a fab time, that is why I didn't notice the cut foot and even when I did I was enjoying myself too much to stop dancing so I danced on a towel.

And, I said I felt dandy

Everyone liked my long earring and slick hair but I worried a little bit that I looked like my mother. She wears long earrings, but these were a bit deco.

PossumIsMunchingPumpkins · 11/11/2007 19:59

Boco, whilst the rest of the veggers are beach-combing and batting their lashes at passing pirates, can I just hiss to you, "Aloe Vera"?

My LO has had eczema since birth which has then contracted all manner of hideous secondary fungal and bacterial infections. Whilst homeopathy is sorting out his constitution for the long term, in the short term we are having fantastic results by breaking open a fresh aloe vera leaf and applying the sap to his skin. It heals wounds, is anti-inflammatory so it stops itching and cools the burning heat that his skin throws off, and is generally flippin marvellous. He was scratching himself raw every night, now his skin is pink and normal-looking. Worth a try?

Right, back to your coconuts and bongos on the beach...

mrs C, glad you had a memorable 30th

AitchTwoOh · 11/11/2007 20:03

mmmmm, carrot and apple puree. i do love it in juiced form myself.
the recipe is, er, onion, garlic, chickpeas, lots of lovely sweet smoked paprika, bay leaf, juice of a lemon, some stock and then let it simmer. i
f the chorizo is of great quality do it with the onions, if you're not sure cook it separately and add it at the end . along with some lemon rind and spinach, if you've got some.

Boco · 11/11/2007 20:04

Oh thank you Possom, that sounds good. Any idea where i'd get fresh aloe leaves from? The antibacterial cream is really helping too. I have to admit i've not used the pills except for one day as it rules out bf, and although we're almost done, it's hard. The ones that are ok for bf i had last time and did nothing. So, still itching, but rash is looking much better.

Dp just arrived home and had a great time with lovely friends. I'm quite jealous actually, i miss them. They took him to St Johns - that restaurant where they eat squirrel and odd meaty things - yuk.

AitchTwoOh · 11/11/2007 20:07

i think you'd have to buy an aloe plant, boco. they sell really cheap ones in ikea, natch.

Boco · 11/11/2007 20:09

I used to have an aloe plant, i'll have to look out - no chance of finding one in this village.

MrsCarrot · 11/11/2007 20:10

Thank you, possum.

God, that does sound tasty, Aitch, I'll have to try it. I have chorizo and butter bean sometimes but lemon and chickpea sounds better. I know what you mean about the orange slick. All the flavour comes out of the chorizo I've noticed. This makes a great sauce ut the remaning chewy lumps of meat are not so pleasant I've noticed.

The puree isn't even my own. I've been sucked into those Ella's kitchen oraganic ones, they are so convenienet when out although since he's started having bread this is easier. In France we snuck a brioche or croissant away from breakfast for him to munch later, very useful.

AitchTwoOh · 11/11/2007 20:10

pah, villages are filled with aloe-tending old ladies...

MrsCarrot · 11/11/2007 20:11

I noticed a lot in that post didnt I.

AitchTwoOh · 11/11/2007 20:12

totally true about the weirdy grey chorizo meat, definitely. we get ours from a handy local spanish deli so we're fine. [smug]

FrannyandZooey · 11/11/2007 20:16

I had a child's pizza because I also wanted a salad, a main course one, and I thought I was going to be overfaced if I had a whole pizza and a whole salad. Of course I was completely wrong and I am sitting here feeling peckish asking dp if we have got any edam

Aloe vera plants are very cheap to buy, any garden centre would stock them - in the cacti section, or someone you know may have one with babies that you can re-pot. You can slice a small slither of a leaf on the growing plant and the leaf will 'heal' itself and close over the cut, so you can keep slicing from the same leaf. It is very economical and works better than any aloe gel in a tube IMO.

I have eaten too much cheese today. I feel mildly ill from it all. DS is being very 13 months and wouldn't eat in his high chair so I ended up feeding him chicken whilst balancing him on one hip and snatching lumps of cheese for myself as a sort of ready meal so i didn't keel over from hunger. As Gizmo would say, I am a Mother Who Tries Too Hard. I am caving in to his peculiar whims. In case you worry Aicth that I'm not BLW, I also gave him corn on the cob to chew on (whilst still balanced on my hip) and he gnawed at it with the ferocious delight and adept thoroughness of a cannibal slobbering over a thigh bone.

Today I boil washed a tambourine as DS had posted it into the machine pre-wash and I forgot to check. I love this age, they are such hard work but so very very cute and funny. All curls at the nape of the neck and baggy dungarees. He tried to climb the stairs today, fell down them spectacularly, scowled at the offending staircase then set off to have another go.

AitchTwoOh · 11/11/2007 21:05

oh no i can't come on here if people are going to treat me like the BLW Police. please, please, as you were...

frothykindofadrink · 11/11/2007 21:08

oooh chorizo and chickpea; we do it with passata it is dh's favourite

TooTicky I am ill, yes, for a couple of months now, nothing life threatening just loooooonnnggg

my mate who is a nutritional therapist is putting me on an exclusion diet from tomorrow so I have been saying a fond goodbye this evening to chocolate and beer

and - oh god - no coffee either

frothykindofadrink · 11/11/2007 21:09

oh and I did get your email glad photos were ok

MrsCarrot · 11/11/2007 21:10

There there, it's fine, sit on the sofa here in the yurt. There's plenty of room, Franny's only been eating child sized portions.

Boco · 11/11/2007 21:10

Oh dear, will you have to change your name? Cap might be a painful reminder if you're not allowed any. You could be 'barleycuplady'?
