For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

The desperation to communicate will help her to speak though. It's only a phase, if a ratrher trying one.

TooTicky · 07/11/2007 22:14

Ha! I can't even spell rather!

pinkspottywellies · 07/11/2007 22:18

T'is a phase and it shall pass [hysterical grin]

womblingalong · 07/11/2007 22:22

Hello all,

Have been back at work for two days and tried to post on here yesterday, but it didn't work for some reason [cross]

Sorry that you are suffering Boco

TooT, the pics are lovely, your DC's look such fun.

FK, your indian feast sounds lovely, I am sure mrs jafferey's recipie was just as lush.

Welcome to the fab fruity world of 10/10, Hunker and Gizmo and Littlerach.

Tatties, you sounds wrung out, please put your feet up if you can.

FMF, exams are shit, but I am sure you've done better than you think.

Sorry I missed out sharing Franny's normous bed last night

Possum, your garden/orchard sounds amazing

TooTicky · 07/11/2007 22:27

Wombling, how was it?

pinkspottywellies · 07/11/2007 22:29

Hope it went ok Wombling

womblingalong · 07/11/2007 22:32

PSW - shh about the exercise!

Franny - hope you are feeling ok and I just know you are looking after yourself.

Idris, are you worried about DD starting school. My DD starts next Sept, a few days after her 4th birthday, just like FK's and th eothers, and I am panicing already

gizmo · 07/11/2007 22:33

Oh yes, I have a screamer and pointer too. Plus he says 'ga' and 'dere' both of which are very illuminating.

I try to compensate by carrying him in the general direction of the point, and when we get close enough to the object of lust he tries to dive out of my arms. After 20 minutes of patiently leaning over to let him turn the same light switch on and off repeatedly I get rather sick of this and put him down, thus triggering a much larger hissy fit than I would have achieved by just ignoring him in the first place.

pinkspottywellies · 07/11/2007 22:34

Exercise you say, Wombling? What are you going to pledge?

pinkspottywellies · 07/11/2007 22:38

DH is making me dance to Huey Lewis and the News I think he's had a few beers

DD says urgh and da and just general high pitched screaming. I can usually figure it out but today was very frustrating

gizmo · 07/11/2007 22:39

Sounds like a bit of Huey is just what you need then, PSW..."thats the power of Lurrrvvv"

womblingalong · 07/11/2007 22:41

Thanks guys,

Work is a bit crap really, the structure has changed since I went on Mat Leave, I am not sure what that means for me, one of the new peeps is trying to tell me what to do, not sure what is going on. But all of that pales into insignificance with the crpaness I feel about leaving DS in particular, he is so much younger than DD was when I left her to go to work.

He is with PIL, which is wonderful, because they are fab, and adore him, but I left work at 5.15, and didn't get home with him until 7.30, and DD had already gone to bed, and he screamed for the whole journey home, 50 minutes.

I feel like the worst mum, and burst into tears in the work car park today, all over my mil's shoulder.

Don't know what to do, frankly.

TooTicky · 07/11/2007 22:59

Oh Wombling!
Here, have some hugs {{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}
Do you have to do the work thing?

hunkermunker · 07/11/2007 23:30

Aw, Wombling

It is hard leaving them to go to work - I find it harder now they're getting older, really, because I want to stay and talk to them! Are you full time? I am, but work mad compressed hours so have two weekdays and a Saturday off. Hope your next day is easier. How old is DS?

I am buying a rebounder from Argos tomorrow so will bounce for at least 10 minutes a day [virtuous] [fretting already about slacking off] I like running too, Gizmo - but haven't been out recently because I'm too knackered after work.

I've just made my breakfast for tomorrow though - punnet of strawberries, kiwi and grapes. So that's three before 9am...if I remember to take it with me. [sticks note on front door]

womblingalong · 07/11/2007 23:46

Thanks guys, not a lot of choice on the work thing, if we want to pay mortgage, eat and clothe ourselves. Glad that it is only 3 days a week though.

Hunker, DS is 7 months today, and DD is 3. I just am finding it hard to give him up, as he is just turning into the loveliest baby, after months and months of stress and yuck, with reflux, failure to thirive, BFing ishoos etc.

TooTicky · 07/11/2007 23:51

Can you work from home at all?

womblingalong · 08/11/2007 00:06

Ad hoc I could TooT, but not on a regular basis. It's just it is a relatively well paid PT job, and there are not many of them about, esp in my field.

anorak · 08/11/2007 01:43

Hello all - long time no see as I have been staying at my sister's and mucking in with what they eat but I've finally reached my new home in Bermuda and have my own kitchen again!

And guess what? I have a purple cauliflower in my fridge

I am going to have some interesting new produce to contribute to these threads in future!

FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 08:31

Morning anorak, how have you been? Your new and exciting produce selection does sound thrilling I must say

Wombling am very sad for you. Hope it gets more bearable quickly. Pink were you going back to work today or did I imagine that?

Tatties what is up? The baffling bit was very descriptive! I also remember very vividly the carrying to the object being pointed at and then finding it was a light switch. And yes, the endless switching.

Pink have your tried baby signing? We just read a book and did it ourselves, it was fabulous for us. Ds used to make up signs for things he wanted to ask for and then teach them to us. God it helped a LOT.

I have eaten an apple, 2 pears, grapes, raisins, oats and all that. I am facing up to the fact that I don't really like nuts. I know they don't count in our ten (do they Avi) but I think I should be eating them. TooT (or anyone) do you know if it is ok to just eat sunflower and pumpkin seeds (which I do, every day) or if nuts have some special thing which you can't get from anywhere else?

ds wants to learn to read I think and I can't be bothered to teach him He is trying to teach himself using a receipt from the garage he found on the floor

FrannyandZooey · 08/11/2007 08:42
