For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Morning all,

I am eating 2 apples, pear, orange, raisins, half a banana, oats and seeds etc

Boco if you don't have any luck locally, you could talk to my magic lady on the phone, and I can buy the stuff she recommends and post it to you

but I know these things can be expensive

I am in awe at all the fruit trees

Hello.

Is there pre-meet stress about what is to be worn and the like?

Tatties · 07/11/2007 08:59

Morning

Everyone is fretting about the meet aren't they?

I think I have my clothes sorted but I don't have as much control over my skin...

Will catch up with thread later, going to dentist now

IdrisTheDragon · 07/11/2007 09:05

Hello. DS is not quite well . His throat is "rattly" in his own words.

We are going to have a lazy day . And do the washing.

hunkermunker · 07/11/2007 10:20

Morning all.

I haven't eaten anything yet

DS1 came and got into bed with us last night, so I slept on a ledge [need bigger bed] He said he was lonely by himself.

DS2's still in a cot in our room - he scared the living wotsits out of DH last night. DH was coming to bed and he crept into the room, past the cot and as he just got past it, a still-fast-asleep DS2 said "Boo!" He must've been dreaming about playing hide and seek...but DH thought it was "a robber"!

PossumIsMunchingPumpkins · 07/11/2007 10:41

Boco, to echo what Avi said, your very itchy rash did sound possibly like a fungal skin infection to me but I'd presumed the GP would do a skin swab as a matter of course to check for this? Fungal infections can be treated with manuka or tea tree oil (eg in the bath in a light carrier oil eg almond) and by diet - no yeast products at all, no alcohol, no mouldy cheese, no yeasty bread, mushrooms, grape and apple skins, fermented products eg vinegar etc etc, an anti-candida diet in effect. It is tough to cut all those things out so best to be tested first to see if it is that. The yeast can overgrow when one's body is out of balance due to stress/diet and is then spread via breaks in the skin i.e. caused by scratching. Still worth seeing a homeopath IMO too to boost your general constitution and get to the root imbalances in your system. It must be miserable, sympathies.

Avi, the neighbour impasse is tricky, on one hand you want to chuck back all the rockets yet you have to live next to them for foreseeable future. I purge my irritation at my millionaire, garden-hungry neighbour by waving to him in his conservatory as I climb a ladder to prune the hedge, whilst saying in cheery tones in Persian, "you mother f**ked a flatulent camel to produce you, oh turd in a chamber pot". (In addition to wanting to buy my land, he has a gardener who uses every pesticide and herbicide in existence, his now pristine pond has no duck weed and no frogs - they all got sick and died. I was I wanted to gather all the froggies and give them refuge but I was too late. It still makes me cry - b/feeding hormones, I get strangely maternal about many living things.)

TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsBoecoe · 07/11/2007 10:50

Possum thanks for that. Never had a skin swab but that was the first thing the dr thought and i had a cream for fungal skin infections first of all. But it didn't help. He was absolutely certain of a different ailment each time i saw him though, even of scabies. I have to cut out drinking with these tablets anyway so that'll be fine. I only really drink once or twice a week anyway, and then only a glass of wine. Will try eliminating the other things. I probably eat too much sugar at the moment.

I know what you mean about hormonal bf feelings for creatures. I remember when dd2 was tiny and dd1 first got nits i found it really hard to kill them, even though i hate them and they're vile - i felt bad. Weird.

Feel very sorry for you with bad neighbours, it's such a pain. My neighbours are ok but some of them have odd habits.

lullabyloo · 07/11/2007 11:35

I must say..Franny's bad is marvellously comfy & she doesn't snore at all.

lullabyloo · 07/11/2007 11:35

bed even

TigerFeet · 07/11/2007 12:46

you are all in bed and I am at work [wails]

I want some phish phood (or whatever) PWETTY PWEEZE

Am struggling to keep up with the thread atm - my job keeps interfering with my mning. Tis shite and no mistake.

All these babies off to school next year... my dd is one of them. She will only just be 4 (July baby - actually Franny if you are 4 days early your new dc will share her birthday) but I reckon she'll be OK. Have seen one school and liked it but it is on the wrong side of town, we have the local one to look at and then must choose a third for the form which is really difficult as there are a lot of schools around here with problems. It really is difficult.

Hey-ho, lovely fruit salad for lunch, so all is well with the world

(whispers) Boecoe do you think there is a chance your stepsister may have seen through your Cunning Disguise???

FrannyandZooey · 07/11/2007 13:12

do not fret about the meet

it will be lovely, and I will email soon with lovely lovely details for you all

"how lovely", you will say

When is this great event taking place?

TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsBoecoe · 07/11/2007 13:35

Oh dear, i've been very chipper and excited about the meetup but now that my rash has spread to my earlobes and i look spotty and unpleasant i'm suddenly not so confident about it all. It's only 11 days away!

littlerach · 07/11/2007 13:42

Too fast again!

Yestarday managed to have sweet potato and carrot soup again, then veg curry (beans, peppers, courgette and too much spinach!) and fruit cake (hopeful emoticon)

And we ate the pomegranate and it was splendid. i did the pin thing, and we were all sprayed with the juice.

Dd2 thought it was lovely, dd1 trued it (hurrah) and declared it strange.

Today I feel poorly - sympathy welcome - though dh says it was the curry, but I don't htink it was.

So I have had porridge and peanut butter on toast.

I am so pleased not to be coming to your meetup. You are all sylphlike with gorgeous skin (Boco's rash aside) and fantastic dress sense. I am not.

Hope you all have lots of fruity fun (watch that Franny mind, she is RAMPANT atm)

TooTicky · 07/11/2007 14:39

Who hasn't yet admired my newly uniformed dd1 and ds2? On my profile

I'm not worrying about the meet-up.
Well, not much.
I wish 100x was coming.

TooTicky · 07/11/2007 14:41

I am not sylphlike and have no dress sense whatsoever.

lullabyloo · 07/11/2007 14:48

I am not sylph like,& have given up caring what I'm wearing as I'm almost bald & my skin is terrible at the mo

gosh.....I'm really selling myself myself

ds & I were blown round thbe park this morning, fed ducks with mounds of left over party bread, jumped in the huge mounds of leaves the gardeners had raked up & ate lentil soup & rolls & salad at the park cafe.It was bloomin freezing.

lullabyloo · 07/11/2007 14:49
