DD1 has just come home with a big fat neck and a weirdy rash - what degree should i pitch my panic?

She was crying in her classroom and saying she can't move her head. I checked, and she can put her chin on her chest. I looked at her though and one side of her neck is huge - the other side a bit bigger than normal - she is having trouble turning her head. She was shivery and weepy and said her armpits hurt. Just stripped her off expecting armpits to be a gland thing - but there are funny lumpy spots in her armpits.

Went into the pharmacist who did shrugging and said go to the doctors in the morning.

She's taken herself up to bed.

Do i do doctor calling. Maternal instinct thing tends to get stuck in these situations and i sway between calling 999 and doing the shrugging and saying it's viral and you're fine.

I'm sure your DD will be fine and that the Antibiotics will sort it out.

Just keep a close eye, my DH was very ill with it a couple of times and it is very nasty.

Poor thing I hope she is feeling better soon.
