For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Sorry, PSW, yes I did. I have been chatting on there for a bit. Thank you.

pinkspottywellies · 01/11/2007 21:06

Ah, you said ground linseed and not linseed oil. Where would I get that?

FrannyandZooey · 01/11/2007 21:07

Hello Dolly! Welcome back

PSW it was GROUND linseed not the oil. You get linseed from any health food place and is cheap, then you need to grind it in a coffee or nut grinder. Do you have one? When is it for? I can send you some if there is time

add 1 tbsp ground linseed to 3 tbsp water and leave to stand for a couple of minutes. Then use exactly as you would an egg in baking (it even goes disgustingly viscous like a raw egg)

By the way, I was just going over the last thread and TooT I love your 100x dream! Made me

FrannyandZooey · 01/11/2007 21:08

is it linseed? Isn't it flax seed? [great confusion] are they both the same? Can I be arsed to go and check?

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 01/11/2007 21:13

Thanks Franny. We're getting together on Monday so I'll have to make the cake on Sunday. I'll have to go into town and get some tomorrow or Sat (dammit, I was in town today!) but I don't have a little grinder only a food processor or mortar and pestle do you think that would work?

Oh and TooT, if I do your cake with milk, do I just add it until it looks like a normal cake better consistency?

Why oh why did I offer to do this?!

pinkspottywellies · 01/11/2007 21:14

x posts again! You did say linseed but it may well be flaxseed - particularly considering your condition. Now sit down and don't worry your pretty little head over it

ahundredtimes · 01/11/2007 21:14

I have something to report, something properly F&V:

Today I had orange juice for breakfast and a banana, and then an apple, and then vegetable lentil and dahl soup or something (was from a soup shop, but v. nice) for lunch and then made a vegetable lasagne with toms, mushrooms, garlic, courgettes and other things. Oh and I've drunk a lot of water, which I know doesn't count, but hey, it wasn't coffee.

That's good isn't it?

Also now, I am mostly eating satsumas. God I love satsumas. They are even better than greengages, I can eat bags of them, quite greedily, with juice down my chin.

Franny, put your feet up. You must get lots of rest.

pinkspottywellies · 01/11/2007 21:15

cake batter consistency of course!

FrannyandZooey · 01/11/2007 21:15

I would maybe use a proprietary egg replacer or just follow TooT's advice, she is the vegan baking expert

unless your food proc has a grinder attachment?

FrannyandZooey · 01/11/2007 21:16

they are up, believe me

100 we need hair photos, PLEASE

pinkspottywellies · 01/11/2007 21:16

Wow 100x, I don't think I've ever heard you talk f&v before!! That's excellent, keep up the good work!

ahundredtimes · 01/11/2007 21:20

Oh no Franny I couldn't - I look too weird. Also because of the sceptre of the Venice photographs, I got my eyebrows done, and so I look quizzical and weird. I am hoping by tomorow it will all have died down a bit. Me and the hairdresser had a slight misunderstanding vis a vis the terms: sleek bob, choppy bob and soft bob.

PSW, I am hurt. I HAVE talked about f&v before. I have. Haven't I Franny?

I felt guilty actually because I go on and on here and forget to talk about vegetables.

TooTicky · 01/11/2007 21:21

Wow 100x!

PSW, it wasn't even a dream, just my over-active imagination

Um, re cake, what did I say? Did I mention soya milk? If so, cow milk would do the same job. And yes, normal cake consistency.

pinkspottywellies · 01/11/2007 21:22

Oh I am all boggled thinking about this cake! I might try TooT's one with milk this time but next time they come round I will do the lin(flax?)seed banana cake. DH absolutely loves your banana cake by the way Franny and so does the bloke who shares his office. I have to put extra things in DH's lunch for him! We leave bananas to go soft on purpose now so I have to make cake with them! It freezes really well too.

TooTicky · 01/11/2007 21:22

Okay, clementines or satsumas? Which are most popular? I love clementines, erspecially the little sharp ones.

ahundredtimes · 01/11/2007 21:25

Satsumas If I buy Clementines by mistake I'm all disappointed, I'm exceptionally disappointed in those other ones, mandarins.

FrannyandZooey · 01/11/2007 21:25

100 I am SURE you have OFTEN talked f+v

it must be that we have just skimmed over those parts in our haste to get to the more amusing bits

Pink if you poke me and I remember I will post you some for next time. Let me have your address please.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 01/11/2007 21:26

I call them all satsumas. I don't actually know which is which [fruit ignoramus]

I like the very tart ones with no seeds best. Ooh my mouth is watering now

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 01/11/2007 21:27

Yes TooT you said soya but I was going to use cow's. Sorry everyone for hijacking huge portions of the thread. I'll stop talking about the damn cake now and I'm going to have a bath and go to bed.

I love even more that it wasn't even a dream TooT!! I heard a lady from Bath on Classic FM today and I thought "that could be 100x". You probably don't even listen to Classic fm! I used to have my hair done at Nick Brain in Bath. It was fab. I love having my hair done, although it usually takes me a day or two to like it and I always look horrible in the mirror.

lionheart · 01/11/2007 21:34

Has to be satsumas.

and a particular hello to everyone having a premature or belated mid-life crisis.

And happy birthday to Yannic.

Poor MrsC--you really have been through it.

Tatties · 01/11/2007 21:41

I like satsumas but I call them all oranges

Linseed is the same as flax

Ooh a whole Saturday with nothing to do it sounds lovely Franny

I am going to try to keep up with the bulk cooking because spending a couple of hours on it at the weekend is SO worth it for the ease of meal preparation during the week. I have been slightly flustered with three pans going at once though I must admit

I have 6 leeks in the fridge

lionheart · 01/11/2007 21:44

Did we overdo the bustling and plumping perchance?

ahundredtimes · 01/11/2007 21:48

Franny, that made lolololol, and so did BBee's Mrs Slocombe/Mrs Robinson scarf flicking.

You lot are funny, and healthy. That's very clever.

I must go. Dh is prowling about in the kitchen sighing and saying, 'What shall we do tonight?' to himself/me.

Night all.
