Whilst I know its not that bad , dd1 has been in distress most of the night and day , (moaning and crying and flailing her body but found to be asleep when we go in)and this follows several infections (5) over the last 10week . She cant eat solids easily, as the ulcers are enormous in her mouth and she has a temperature and is extremely fractious. Other than that she doesn't have the spots yet associated with it , so IM not really sure????????. Looks like we'll have another fun time with a poor hysterical dd1 in gp surgery tomorrow morning. She has soooo had enough of it all , as have I .

Is it a nice evening?
Go out into the garden and look at the sky, the plants take some deep breaths, talk to your heart and stomach like you would a baby. Place your hands on them and stroke in a circular motion.

I should really be at kindy, but dd does not want to go so they are both in the bath!

Papillon · 22/10/2007 20:47

Papillon · 22/10/2007 21:09

she is hit and miss with kindy. She likes reassurance and has always had quite a high variety of experiences, think kindy bores her sometimes.

how u feeling now?

melsy · 22/10/2007 21:13

ok ish , dh just told me off as phone was left in dd1s room and it just rang and woke her up , im not thinking straight.

OP posts:
melsy · 22/10/2007 21:15

lol at kindy bores her !!! bless , is there not enough stimuli for her ?? What does she like the best, dd1 would make things and paint all day if she could , infact she tries to here , this kitchen is forever covered in glue , glitter scissors , paints etc and her creations cover everything ! I was much the same though, did reams !!!

poor little thing just cant sleep properly, I went in to check on her and shes just stirred , started crying and couldnt calm down, scratching everywere and making funny noises in the back of her throat. The pimple things are on her knees, but I think they may have been there today already come to think, I didnt even know what they were.

Shes now gone back to sleep for now , but I ezpect her to e up again.

Every time I say to dh we should take her to A&E , hes says Im being ridiculous and over the top and that shes only got a virus???????????? The thing is we dont know 100% , and only putting it all together from here and the fact that hf&m is around her school right now.

Hi melsy
Can it get any worse for you sweet?
My dd1 had hand foot and mouth early last year and she was very poorly with it(this was what made her give up her dummy) ,she had lots of large white blisters in her mouth on her gums and in her throat. It was actually her regular check up at the dentists that drew my attention to it initially.
She also had some very faint pink spots under the skin on the soles of her feet and palms of her hands.
She was unable to eat for a few days and refused to drink(we struggle getting her drink anyway)
The GP just said to giver her Calpol, which we did and she was fine after about 5-7 days.

Hope your dd is soon better
Hugs to you(((melsy)))

Oh melsy
Like anyone would enjoy it!!!

Try and ride it out,i sometimes find that if i just resign myself to a situation and accept it for what it is and keep my head down it helps.
Try offering lots of icecream ,that was the one thing i eventually managed to get down dd1 and have some yourselfadd some Rescue remedy instead of ice magic

PelvicfloorLotsofGore · 22/10/2007 23:26

Papillon · 22/10/2007 23:31

my sister mentioned it could also be glandular fever she got ulcers in her mouth with glandular

Papillon · 22/10/2007 23:44

dd likes kindy but is not a big arts crafts girl.... she is quite into playing outside. My wild child think she will have a sleep today after kindy she looked abit tired and was clingy.

melsy · 23/10/2007 11:23

shes a nature girl like her mummy!

ok diagnoses has been confirmed this morning, and she has HF&M , they need a poo sample to go to the hospital. Had a difficult night as she just couldnt rest and sleep .

I think we will refer to GOSH , as theres just to much going on and have spoken with them and they feel there may be an underlying immmunity problem.

I just want to go to sleep for the rest of the week.

Papillon · 23/10/2007 19:36

am on skype now if you wanna see us in our jammies

melsy · 25/10/2007 09:31

OHHHH my when will it end, dd1 was up most of the night in pain, it seems shes had a very nasty case of it. She still can only just about eat and thats only plain plain things. I really thought she would be getting better by now, friends whos kids have had it are shocked by her response to it, as its meant to be very mild virus. They all thought she would be back at school by now. MY mum said to come and meet her for her hours work lunch and get out of the house , but Im wasted beyond belief , dont know if I can drive. I so need to get out of this house.

Im at my wits end , as dd2 was up till 4 am too, they took it in turns to cry.

We have her appointment at Great Ormond St now , but its not for 3 weeks , as the professor best appointed for her case is going away.

MaeBee · 25/10/2007 18:47

my ds has it too. has been poorly and miserable for a week.
blisters on feet and hands but can't really tell if there are any in mouth. its coincided both with teething and nappy rash...and him giving up breastfeeding!
what a hellish week.
off to the boozer tonight!

Beenleigh · 25/10/2007 18:50

dd1 had a similar reaction to your dd, it lasted about 3 days, was hideous, calpol and ice cream
