For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I do not have time to catch up. Party at noon. Have done cake. 2 of ds2's best friends can't come I may have to crochet an emergency beard. It will be a great party.

How are you all?

Boco · 23/10/2007 10:29

Oh good luck toot, hope the party is a success, shame about the best friends not coming.

Avi that's strange, i must have psychic leanings! I'm going to take my dreams far more seriously in future.

FrannyandZooey · 23/10/2007 10:35

I have swept and changed all the beds and cleaned the bathrooms and laid the table and washed my hair and cooked felafel (well, warmed them up) and even turned on the heating

and the house now smells of garlic, and NQC is on the train

avi when is your flight??

Boco - I am staying in Norfolk now but going to Banham Zoo instead. Shall we set a date for lunch or would you rather wait until after the meet up to see if we like each other, especially after the shouting episode?

Franny - very envious of bathroom(s) Have a lovely lunch.

Toot - I'm sure the party will be fab, and I think it is a rite of passage that one's best friend will fall ill on the day of the party, either that or the birthday person. I think that's why there are SO many children's stories about it.

Avi - You have just made yourself even more ethereal with images of sand and a distant pier. I wouldn't be surprised if you said a rhinoceros walks past every morning.

I am not feeling well. Kind of fluey and achey and run down. Ds is sleeping appallingly and I am knackered. Dp is off work this week thank goodness. Franny have I missed any recent emails about the meet up? I know I have paid but has there been an email since that? Confused

Popping in to record intake, after several days of cake and bacon rolls - restarting here:

Breakfast - muesli with lots of raisins, glass of orange juice, half a banana, handful of grapes = 3

Lunch - hummus, felafel, spinach and tomato in pitta, sweetcorn, melon = 3 1/2?

Dinner will be beef stew with onions, carrots, turnips, possibly 2 portions? Will make up the rest with fruit.

Off to the deer centre now, will catch up with thread later.

Party was great if manic, we LOVE Captain Barnacle. Pics later, although I regret not taking one of the cake. It was chocolate cake covered in strawberries.

TooTicky · 23/10/2007 16:13

Sorry you're not feeling good Tatties.

Tatties · 23/10/2007 16:23

I think it might be mastitis. I have had a sore breast all day but didn't connect it with feeling crap. I didn't really think I would get it at this stage of the game. I'm off to check the archives now

FunkyGlassSlipupandyouredead · 23/10/2007 16:33

savoy cabbage leaves inside your bra i think. And also massage your breast while feeding and in warm shower can help. Take paracetemol to ease the flu-like symptoms. If it doesnt ease then go to the Drs. HTH

womblingalong · 23/10/2007 16:36

Poor you Tatts, it's the pits

Tatties · 23/10/2007 16:47

Thanks

I've been looking through the archives and I'm not sure. I have a red sore v-shaped patch, I have experienced blocked ducts in the past but there was a harder lump which eased with feeding and massage. This feels slightly inflamed. I don't heave a temperature but I don't feel well. We just went out shopping (buying lots of veg for bulk cooking!) and I've come back wishing I'd stayed in to rest. I have taken some ibuprofen and will go for a bath I think. Presumably if it was full-blown mastitis requiring ABs I would have a temp wouldn't I?

FrannyandZooey · 23/10/2007 18:40

Oh dear Tatties it does not sound great whatever. Will you ring NHS direct if you don't feel better soon? You don't owe me any emails or anything about the meet up, I am just chasing the last few people who told me they wanted to come but have not paid - Bee and 3andnomore.

Mr Avi I am truly shocked by your allegations that Avi just moved all the rubbish into another room for the photo. The mental picture of your clean and spare house is all that keeps me going some days. So I am going to ignore your vile slurs.

NQC has been, and gone; we ate vegetables. I am quite tired. It was lots of fun.

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 23/10/2007 18:42

Oh no, poor you Tatties! I have had this so many times this round of feeding. Three times I developed a temperature and was very ill for days but there have been countless blocked ducts and lumps and like you have, a red patch combined with soreness and feeling ill. It can turn either way.

Have a hot bath with ginger oil if you have it. I lie on my front and really massage the affected breast. Obviously keep feeding, and REST REST REST. That's the most important. Homeopathic phytolacca is great for this stage but when you have a temp I think belladonna is best. Have lots of vitamin c, your body may just about be fighting off infection, and as always, the savoy cabbage leaf. Hope it works!

fullmoonfiend · 23/10/2007 18:56

tATTIES

Noiw listen you lot, stop having men round when i am not here. It's not fair...

FrannyandZooey · 23/10/2007 19:10

Men? What men?

OP posts:
Tatties · 23/10/2007 19:49

Yes I wouldn't hesitate to phone NHS Direct if I got really bad.

MrsC I only have lavender oil so I shall go and bathe with that now... I have been drinking ginger ale and eating ginger biscuits though. And funny you should mention vit c as I have been wanting to eat oranges today and bought some lemons to have in hot water. I think this must have been brewing for a few days; yesterday I felt really wiped out and fell asleep on the sofa before lunch, and I went to bed very early. It's good that dp is off but I am also upset because it feels like such a waste of time to be ill

BTW, I always move junk out of the way if I am taking photos. I wonder if I should let Mr Tatties on in my absence? I think it would all end in tears. Right I'm away for my bath now
