For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

going to bike to kindy this morning, with the kids in the bike chariot. Started then stopped, must start again, blue skies, no wind... I must bike and have fortified myself with a good breakfast.

FrayedKnot · 23/10/2007 20:33

Evening all

I have had a bowl of fruit salad with kiwi, grapes, melon; dried fruit; a big veg & lentil stew. Probably 7. I need to have some fruit shortly.

DH has come in very down about work. He was made redundant about 3 years ago and we had to move here for his new job. We've spent loads of time & effort and a fair bit of money on our house & garden, and have just started to get really settled.

The company he works for are horrible and he is hugely overworked and stressed all the time. He says he never gets to the end of a working day and feels he has enjoyed it - any of it, ever.

I feel so sorry for him. I usually enjoy going to work, even though my job is a bit of a non-event. Then I'm only there for 4 hours and I come home and do nice things with DS and have time to make proper food and stuff, which I enjoy too.

I don;t know what to suggest. If he starts looking for another job it could be anywhere and I can;t begin to imagine anotehr move and starting all over again. But I don;t want him to spend his life hating what he is doing

Sorry, I am waffling on. It's really worrying me.

Papillon · 23/10/2007 20:36

Tatties sorry to hear you are in pain, good your dh is there so you can rest.

Well done on long fat carrots Franny, my dad grew some recently they were stumpy and of medicore girth. I love asian veges so my garden will be mostly filled with them, except for the pea patch YUM!

Wish I could come to meet up

littlerach · 23/10/2007 20:40

FK, I do feel sorry for husbands really. Dh was in a similar position to yuors a couple of years ago, and we had just moved form Bath.
Luckily, he stayed where he was, and the work actually got more enjoyable. He is in a rut again now, but hopefully temp thing.
Hopefully it will all work out for your dh too.

I have had a PMT filled, very clumsy day - sympathy please.
I managed to spill ketchup on my clean jeans (my others were in the wash from where I had spilled curry on them).
The I poured coffee over the table, and my jeans.
Dd2 was very cross today, and was shouting so much. And I then thought it was probably that I had done so to the pair f them with my PMT. Not that that is an excuse though.

Not good food today. In fact, so bad I feel I shouldn't say it out loud.
the good bits were salad.

No badge for me.

NotQuiteCockney · 23/10/2007 20:42

Just popping in to confirm deny that Frances and Greeny are the same person. Frances is also not a different person from harpsi. These three are absolutely all different people. I swear.

The trip home was fine, we had a very slow express train, and then we biked home mostly on the very wide underused pavements, thanks to the lack of bike lights. We are getting a spare child at 10am or so tomorrow, so that should be fine.

It was indeed lovely. The costume changes are a bit embarassing, as are the constant conversations with herself between them. One of them always seemed to be in the room with me, while the others were busy in other rooms. It was all a bit .

They were continually rushing in and out of the room, adjusting their outfits. I just went a lot.

The boys had great fun, and DS2 is mad about Frances' garden, if slightly grubby, shocker. DS1 finished his bloody maths book, but I had a message from the bookshop, and the next three are waiting for us.

NotQuiteCockney · 23/10/2007 21:34

They could of course all be carrying on a wild lesbian affair, rather than all being the same person. That would explain the rushing in and out and the adjusting of outfits, I guess.

Oh, it was hard enough keeping a straight face through all of it on my own. If there had been anyone else there (I mean, other than me, Frances, Frances Greeny and Frances hc.) we would have looked at each other and then rolled about on the floor laughing, surely?

zippitippitoes · 23/10/2007 21:56

have people been having sex mini meet ups

i have just had a proper dinner of broccoli shoots a whole packet, raw cooked prawns and chetnut mushrooms cooked in milk which then had couscous dropped in it..so now i am right stuffed..and feeling fat

fullmoonfiend · 23/10/2007 21:57

snigger...

womblingalong · 23/10/2007 22:13

Hello all,

Greeny, Harpsi, Franny and NQC, glad you had fun at lunch.

Tatties, how are you feeling, any better with the meds and bath?

TooT, glad the party went well, despite the absence of best friends, now you've got me thnking obsessively about cake, chocolate cake.

Idris, how are your teeth? Mine are getting better, just schng in the gum, rather than the referred pain into my head, until DD launched herslf at me for a cuddle and managed to headbutt my jaw, it is all sore and tingly - not v nice.

Am v wistful of 100 in Venice, keep thnking about when we go married there, years ago now. I can't wait to go back, although won't be the same with dc's.

FrannyandZooey · 23/10/2007 22:13

FK that is horrible. That feeling of "you need this" versus "but WE need THIS" is so hard. Would it not be possible for him to find work locally or within a commute? Work from home somehow? Apologies if these are really impractical ideas.

Littlerach you can have a badge saying "WATCH IT I have PMTn

NQC is being really very silly indeed. Her dses have amused mine all day and he is only very slightly scarred. Mentally

we ate salad didn't we NQC? and felafel, and bananas.

andpizzaandicecream

Hello, Tatties sorry to hear you're not feeling good, hope you get lots of rest.

MrsC, when shall we meet for lunch - i'd like to risk it, and hope for the best regarding the shouting. I can only really get to Norwich at weekends though - is that ok? Dp happy to drop us as he wants to go to the climbing wall at the UEA.

NQC and Franny&co, glad you all had fun. Looking forward to the meet up even more now i know there'll be costume changes.

Avi i think MrAvi is hooked after his first forum performance!

FK - sorry to hear about your dhs job. Dp is feeling exactly the same. He absolutely hates his job - and the more he stressed he gets the less able he is to get another one because he just sinks into a rut - where he's been for ages. I really wish he'd try to get out of it.

Toots, glad the party went well - the cake sounds lovely.

Hello Zippi and fMV and Paps and Rach and possum and everyone else.
